    2 things
    1. all the polymer is to keep it under 10 lbs so it can’t be classified as a destructive device by the NFA
    2. The Polymer Magwell is because Fostech is going to eventually come out with conversion kits where you can shoot rounds such as the 308 using the same lower.

    I just got one a week ago. You are right about the fit and finish and it's robust nature. There is also some hefty Engineeringtalk befire you see the first Origin. I am off a with your praise of the weight (fknhvy). My last build , an AR10 type role was 5lb14oz with a 20" bbarrel. Carbon fiberand titanium is costly. I believe my choice of materia will make for an easy handling thumper. I will also be robust and rather smart, low reecoil and moa @ 600 yds.

    Excellent close up shots and review. Really interested in this. But the JaM-O-MaTiC, broken bolts and broken parts, broken weld's? Thats what turned me away from the UTAS. The S&W M&P 12 BullPup is looking much better now. I have a KELTEC KS7 and with the mini shells. It is a nice piece of kit. And love my BERETTA 1301 COMP 21 inch barrel with the NORDIC Extended Tube and holds 10+1. Super fast, no kick, smooth and fast.

    I had such high hopes for the Origin 12 it really seemed like my all time dream scatter gun but my first "all nickel" 18" locked up before I ever fired a round and I had to send it back to Fostech which was a fast turn around, also it fired when it was on the safe position and that got past QC but who needs a safety right? that first gun broke the bolt on round 6, my second Origin 12 was a "nickel internal" 18" it broke the bolt on the first short fired always using standard 2 3/4" rounds. I still have a few NIB unfired as collector guns but I'd never trust them and I never want to fire another when there are so many reliable shotguns to be had. Mag fed sounds good on paper but in the real world running and crawling etc I sent back to tube fed guns including Tac-13, DP-12 and Tavor TS-12

      Wow! That's definitely a scary malfunction. I hope to never see the day, but so far - I've had nothing but reliability with this one. Every manufacturer has a lemon here and there, but you're not the first person that's had issues with the Origin. I'll definitely do a follow-up video at some point in the future after a decent round count. Thanks for the input!

    The one that they sent to me was a $2,800 paperweight.
    Right out of the box, it jammed every single round. I sent it back to them to fix that and they sent it back, jamming every other round. Sent it back again, and got something that jams every 4th round with a statement that there is nothing more that they will do for me... :-(
    After they told me to screw myself, i got to smithing and with A LOT OF TLC i only had 2 jams in the last 150 rounds.
    Also the accuracy was ~200 MOA out of the box and i have got it to ~10 MOA.

    • @EchoDelta2A
      @EchoDelta2A  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very interesting and unfortunate. Were you noticing cycling issues with all shell types? Did hotter high brass loads still fail? Slugs? I've also started noticing recently that some shells that are marked 2 3/4" are slightly larger than that and would cause issues in the Origin. Either way, I've moved on to the Benelli M4. No complaints here! Lol

    • @Corteese1980
      @Corteese1980 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EchoDelta2A
      Initially, i used whatever ammo i had and it jammed every single round.
      Immediately, I returned it to Fostech (first time) and after a few weeks they returned it telling me that they "didn't have any issues with cycling", but were kind enough to replace a couple faulty parts which had solicited vast complaints from their customers. now it only jammed every other round...
      Not being satisfied with a $2,800 shotgun that is so unreliable, i sent it back the second time. They called me to tell me they are not having any issues and asked what ammo i was using. I told them that if it is just an ammo issue, send me the packaging of the ammo they say "works perfectly every time." If I am willing to spend $2,800 on a firearm, i am clearly willing to buy quality ammo to run through it.
      When i got it back, with their ammo packages, i went and bought a few boxes of each type of ammo. Using their suggested ammo, it seemed to improve, but not by much. Now it only failed every 1 in every 4 rounds.
      I don't care what you spend on a gun, that is unacceptable, but Fostech told me that "there is nothing more that they could do" so i buckled down and started diagnosing the failure issues, then smithing them one at a time.
      When Fostech washed their hands of me (their unsatisfied customer), i had a $2,800 shotgun with ~200 MOA accuracy which failed 25% of the time.
      Adding several hours of work, i now have a shotgun with ~10 MOA accuracy which fails less than 2% of the time.
      I am well aware of what is causing these remaining failures, but it is a cheap component that i cannot fix. It needs to be fabricated correctly, but i dont think they care.
      I was looking hard at a replacement (such as the benelli) until i got this thing tuned up. With all the work i put in and as well as it is working i am having a hard time considering another option. Seems like most firearms i try have some issues that i have to clean up. Is the devil you now better than the one you dont?

      Not with use. I had to smith it a lot, but it now jams less than 2% of the time.

    Can you help me with the gas settings for the different type of rounds

    • @EchoDelta2A
      @EchoDelta2A  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, in general, if you're using light loads with under 1300fps, you want more gas to help it cycle. If you're using defensive loads with higher fps, you can close the gas enough where it still cycles. There's no trick to it except trial and error. Once you get a good idea of which rounds work consistently with a specific gas setting, you should stick to only using that type of ammunition.

  • @tenlittleindians

    Having owned and hunted with a SPAS since the early 80's I don't see any reason I would ever down grade to one of these monstrosities. Carry a SPAS fully loaded with ammo all day hunting and you realize anything heavier would be silly without good reason. Semi auto shotguns here in the Midwest and in colder locations fail to cycle in extreme conditions. I liked my Remington semi auto until it would freeze up while duck hunting. When the SPAS fails to feed I slide it into pump mode for the rest of the day. That's the only reason I have kept it all these decades. Otherwise I'd revert back to my very old Remington 870 pump which is much lighter even with the magazine extension.
