      @@loucious73 no way Buffalo is getting that. They have zero leverage at this point. Its public knowledge Eichel isn't happy with management, that he's frustrated with the situation the team is in, and that the team hasn't done much of anything in the 6 years he's been there.

      @@davideaston6944 he wasn't prevented from getting surgery on a disk that wasn't herniated back then. I get it's part of the contract, but are the Sabres holding up their end of the same deal? They promised him a competitive team to play on, and that's clearly not what we saw this year. Even after the coaching change, the team lost more games than it won.

      @@amasta99 our young at least made an effort. Injuries hurt them. Reinhart played better after Eichel. I don't think Eichel is the leader he is. Press conference sounded very selfish. I understand things are bad, but where was the leadership. Think of the guys who disappeared while playing with him, but played a lot better after leaving. O'Reilly, Kane, Hall, etc.

    To me Jack has done as much as he can for the Sabres on and off the ice and I hope he gets the new start he deserves sooner rather than later. You can tell by his body language he is done in Buffalo.

    Jack, I had this injury and surgery! I am Sabres fan and want you to stay first of all. I was in my late 30s and one day I get this stabbing pain down my right arm. Diagnosed herniated disc at C6/C7 of the Cervical spine. They did an anterior fusion, which goes through the front of the neck. It worked out. It was a bone fusion. NEVER consider a plate at your age. If you have the surgery a bone fusion will give you mobility, you should be fine. I wish you luck. I do not know how bad yours is? Typically this is at the 6th and 7th vertebrae of the cervical spine but not always

    He's an elite player and deserves better support. You surround him with a quality team and he becomes one of the ten best scorers in the league. I'm a Leaf fan but I still feel bad for Sabres fans for what they had to go through this season.     It's sad our organization has failed him, our other players and us as fans so badly. We lose Jack, I am out. This teams been tough to watch for years but Jack gave us some awesome moments for being such a young player. He doesn't deserve to have his career wasted though and deserves better than what the Sabres have been offering and as a Fan that's hard to say. I dont blame him for wanting to be done with this reset button cycle every year.

    A lot of anger towards the Sabre Org. here, and probably rightfully so. But Eichel got 10 mill a year and he isn't a 10 mill a year player. Buffalo gets screwed on any trade because that contract will be factored into it, and Eichel took the money, now he wants out with the cash. He isn't a leader, leaders don't take the money and run. I feel a bit sorry for whoever trades for him, because he isn't the kind of guy who's gonna lead you to a championship and they're likely going to pay a high price to get him. IMO.

      You must be referring to Yannick Webber. He hasn’t played in Montreal for years.
      All three of those guys you mentioned played fairly well throughout their time in Montreal. Shea Weber is starting to show signs of regression this season, as all players eventually do in their careers.

    It’s really a shame. We went through the decade of darkness in Edmonton, luckily now Tippet and Holland have righted the ship. I’d like to say hold out for better days but I can’t see it happening with the situation in Buffalo. A promising career could be ruined.

      @SVS I don't see anything on interest that they could offer. Tkachuk, Monahan, Andersson and a 1st is 4 first round caliber players/assets but it is still not that hot. A Kakko or Lafreniere from Rangers is just something else. Lafreniere is someone to build your team around for real. I think have a better chance at getting him. Broberg, 2022 1st, Lavoie, 2023 1st. Flames just don't have a team left if they trade for him. With my proposal they have Gaudreau left. Mangiapane and Dube will be able to step up big time because they are great talents but still Flames already look weak and this leaves them with terrible depth. L.A or Rangers will probably get him. Montreal is a dark horse to get him I think

    I have no problem with Eichel being traded, I have a problem with Kevyn Adams being the GM executing that trade. You’re never gonna get full value in replacing the player, but Adams is gonna get fleeced badly

      It’s a bad situation for Adams. When a guy wants out, the return is diminished immediately. He also hasn’t played much the last year or so. His value is as low as it could ever possibly be.
      The team that gets him is gonna get a great deal.

    Why do opposing fans think they can get eichel for a garbage return. Sabres hold all the cards. You need to give up a top prospect to just start. He's a proven thing, still young and under contract.

      All hes proved so far is hes a decent center who had 2 good years and the rest mediocre. The rest is speculation. There is nothing even close to a guarentee that he will go somewhere else and thrive. Hes shown flashes of "maybe this kid is special" but thats all they've been. Hes good, but he isnt crosby.

    Sounds like he needs to be on a team with a respected veteran. With Toews possibly out, Chicago would have room for a new centre. Playing with Kane would really improve Eichel. They need a centre, they have the experience and they could make the cap space

    So many great captains (Yzerman for example) didn’t win anything for years. It’s not like Eichel is 30 years old and been losing for over a decade. His behaviors aren’t captain material. Great players play on bad teams. He should be honored to wear the C for the Sabres. His teammates have to have a leader that they can believe in and trust that he believes in them. Maybe Eichel’s leadership is part of the problem with the team?
