Now i understand the word sleep in "eat, sleep, train repeat". Sleeping is actually the most difficult thing for me, because being awake is so exciting!
ugh, sleep for me is by far the hardest thing for me to get under control. Great info. stopped lurking and subscribed finally. Too much great info that I keep missing. Thank you!
Have you ever talked about the central nervous system in a video? Like how the 3 big lifts affect each other, because they are all taxing on the cns and how to stay away from fatiguing. Would be interesting to hear your experiences & opinions on that! I'm so done by yesterday's squats & today's heavy bench, this question popped into my mind
Awesome info!! I cannot agree more about sleep and meditation. Daily meditation has done wonders for my mental health which is always great! Thanks for another great bit of info!!
OMG such an amazing post! We are seeing more and more 'recovery' supplements and products.. but the body is the best recovery tool. Sleep is sometimes my Kryptonite. Hydration is key, and always nutrition. Thank you for helping us GET and STAY strong...strong
The Theragun is amazing. One of the best things ive ever bought. Even not taking recovery into account the Theragun is a great stress reliever and simply pleasurable to use.
YOGA! My number 1 for recovery it will literally reduce my pain and stiffness by over 50% after a hard training. I find best the morning after when you can barely roll yourself out of bed.
Cute glasses! Can you do a 5 minute Friday about breathing when squatting. I know you have talked about it a little bit recently but I don’t quite understand why lifters need to breathe that way. Thanks meg!
I just got rehband 7mm knee sleeves and they have made the pain from squats non existent the next day . I know sbd and strong are always pushed but I'm liking these rehbands.
Hello Everyone, my name is Frankie Shayne and I am a Liftoholic. (Audience replies, "Hi Frankie!") This is my first time, but I feel like I need recovery so that's why I'm here. Thank you.
That's awesome, that's the exact same philosophy I have when it comes to exercise or training to begin with. Invest in yourself first and Equipment later. There's no reason drop thousand dollars on prograde equipment when you haven't done much of anything in the way exercise in training already. Getting it backwards in my opinion is why you see so much used equipment for sale, people drop a couple Grand on a machine that gets used a handful of times because they were not on board themselves beforehand.
Hi Meg, thoughts on Electrical Muscular Stimulators?? Specifically for recovery but perhaps in general? I suppose the biggest players I've seen around right now are Compex and Powerdot. I've always been curious to try them but the cost is a big risk vs reward for me.
Would fall into the therapy category in regards to priority. I’ve used stim only for short period of time about 7 years ago, for a specific injury. I don’t know enough to really give an opinion, but I’d say one if those things where it’s less important and could provide a .05% difference in regards to true recovery
megsquats Thanks for the reply! I was going to a physical therapist for a damaged patellar tendon and he would hook me up to a EMS every visit. Didn't notice a huge improvement but I always wanted to try one at home and see if more regular use would improve anything.
I think if you can find a Personal Trainer who is a powerlifter or weightlifter and understands mechanics for those sports specifically you’ll be in a great position. It’s pretty rare to find, but you’d make progress far quicker. It will however, be 8x more expensive in most cases. Most personal trainers I know charge 60-100/hour, where you can get an online coach for 220$/month (average price).
Thanks. I follow a male you tuber, I won't mention his name and he charges 5k for 12 weeks plus you can text him or call him at certain times, or the 2k plan where you can't text or call. I was like WTF?? I will keep a look out for both and find one that is affordable. TY!!
You mentioned epsom salt baths being a waste of money but that costs like, almost nothing if you already have a bathtub. You can get huge cartons/bags of epsom salts at any drug store. Also baths help with getting you into a sleep state faster because of the changes in body temperature, so if anything epsom salt baths could be the BEST thing for recovery, no? Idk I'm just grumpy I don't have a bathtub right now lol Overall though, you're 100% right, sleep is the KEY to success in almost everything.
5 Minute Friday idea.... healthy body fat % range for natural female strength athletes? I'm about 20% (I think). Over the past few years I've been doing a steady re-comp to get to this point. I'd like to stay at around the same weight while increasing muscle mass and lowering body fat. Not to a certain percentage, but until I have more clear definition in my legs. That would be, no doubt, below 20% for me. I watched a video today which claimed females shouldn't be below 20% for an extended period of time for health reasons. Thoughts on this?? Or do you think it is different for everyone? I'm wondering if I should continue trying to lean out (as long as I'm still increasing strength) or get over the superficial shit and stay at around 20% for my health.
for the next 5min friday, can you talk about HOW to get good sleep? I used to sleep well until I started sleeping next to someone most nights. Any advice?
As a guy who has ridden 100+ miles per week for the last 4-6 weeks I'd prioritize sleep, calories, and general rest. Every 3 or 4 weeks I find I need a day to just lie in bed for an extended time. To quote Aziz Ansari 'Treat your self'.
Thank you. Awesome video as always. Sucks that sleep is the hardest thing to come by in my life. I feel you. I took this week off the gym to recover but worked 14+ hrs a day with 3-4 hrs commute on top of it. So the sleep was 6 hrs max, so??? What the F..... number one thing for me to work on is sleep. Great video and love the glasses 😉.
3-4 hours commute.. Fuuck that shit. With that and work spending no time at home anyway might as well just have a crap apartment 15 min from work. Just sleeping there anyway lol.
Great information!! I also eat alot of raw garlic, I know sounds kinda gross, but it has an antioxidant called ‘allicin’ that counteracts against excessive cortisol not to mention its great for the heart and blood flow!! Looking beautiful as always, I can help with your recovery too Im giving out free massages to anyone named Meg!! 💪🍯I drink alot of peppermint tea as well that help with muscles soreness:)
Great way to put it in perspective! When I have my student benefits for massage therapy It's 👌 but expensive, so I've definitely been prioritizing sleeping and daily yoga. And then the days where I "forget" to roll out my IT bands and pecs... 😔🤦 I'm testing out my amraps tonight so I'm looking forward to a nice Epsom bath after! Love the 👓! So cute!
Wanted to compete soon then seen results from a local usapl meet and they are deadlifitng 530lbs at 143lbs (I weigh 150lbs) That is insane . What do you think are good numbers for each of the lifts at this weight class to not look like a fool ?
It seems like there are recovery fads that pop up every few months and disappear as fast as they came. Bottom line, if what you are doing is working for you, just keep doing what you're doing. People are always on that thing that makes a 1% difference. My recovery got way faster just by upping protein and dropping carbs. It made more of a difference than some fancy gadget ever could. And if you really need something car buffers are not that expensive and work perfectly.
Now i understand the word sleep in "eat, sleep, train repeat". Sleeping is actually the most difficult thing for me, because being awake is so exciting!
The 20 people who disliked this video don't give a shit about recovery.
Loved this, Meg.
They laugh at me when I take my desknaps, but they will not laugh when I get SWOLE.
desknap sounds pretty legit
Making gainz in yer sleep 🤙🏼
Powerclean the desk to show em strength gains

Love those glasses! They look great on you! :) Great video, I really enjoy the 5 minute Fridays. You are awesome, keep it up.
thanx for the vid, Meg. awesome advice as always. im struggling with sleep and stress the most.
This was perfect timing for me...I’ve been struggling with recovery. Love your snazzy glasses too!
OMG such an amazing post! We are seeing more and more 'recovery' supplements and products.. but the body is the best recovery tool. Sleep is sometimes my Kryptonite. Hydration is key, and always nutrition.
Thank you for helping us GET and STAY strong...strong
You are so awesome! Great content Meg! :D
Oh my gosh, I love your glasses!!! I always crack up when I wear my nerd glasses to the gym, but it's the best!
So glad you made this! There are so many gimmicks out there. Sleep and eat guys ❤️Love the glasses!
Those glasses girl. Yea the only thing I need to recover is a PB&J, mountain climbing to Valhalla, and my dog giving me a back massage. 💪
The Theragun is amazing. One of the best things ive ever bought. Even not taking recovery into account the Theragun is a great stress reliever and simply pleasurable to use.
I try to sleep as much as I can as I suspect my cortisol levels are high from stress...glasses look awesome!
Great information while rocking the glasses.
Need I say more? 😂😂😋
5 minute Friday on sumo deadlift tips!
Step 1: spread em
Those glasses suit you really well! Also I read that book by RP a few weeks ago and I loved it 😊
YOGA! My number 1 for recovery it will literally reduce my pain and stiffness by over 50% after a hard training. I find best the morning after when you can barely roll yourself out of bed.
That contraption looks like it could do some damage 😂😂😂
"damage"
Completely unrelated but your skin looks amazing! Love the direction you’re going with your channel 👍
Great videoooo!! Where are your glasses from? Love them!
Thx for the short video. Glasses look great!
Cute glasses!
Can you do a 5 minute Friday about breathing when squatting. I know you have talked about it a little bit recently but I don’t quite understand why lifters need to breathe that way. Thanks meg!
I explain in my bracing video! th-cam.com/video/rJRqIoaEdlg/w-d-xo.html
uhhhh durrrrr.... how did i miss this?! Thanks!

YAY!!!!
megsquats I have been wanting to get one of those “jigsaw massager” thingies for a while but you said it, they’re a little pricey.
Food and sleep!!! My most favorite things!!!

Great timing! Deadlift session today #DOMS 👍
OH YEAH! ENJOY deadlifts
Hi meg where can I get your tee? I went on your site and it shows as only men's available...x
Do you think online coaching/training is worth it or should we go to a gym where they have trainers? Thanks for this video, recovery is so important.

Sleep is huge. That's something I've always had difficulty with.

Good glasses. Good advice.
Good interesting video as always! Though didn't know you were that nearsighted, I can see the lovely small head effect from your glasses :-D
The glasses!!!!!!! I luv
My favorite recovery tools are cold packs, ice, and heating pads. But that is more for my job than strength training.
Loved the thumbnail!
Love the glasses! Where are they from?
My optometrist? I have no idea what brand they are! Sorry!!
I thought they were the computer ones, thanks though! 👍💪

Lol it's my strong friend, Meg!

Haha dis makes me so happy!
Awesome 👍 and you look good in glasses 🤓
Liked before I even watched lol!
YOU ARE THE MVP!
Sp sleep is the best way to recovery, what about ice baths or it is similar to cryotheraphy?
Sp = So, hehehe
Any temperature therapy would fall under “therapy” and is far less important than sleep
Thank you, hi from México
Meg you look great with glasses
THANK YOU BUDDY!
I love your glasses!!! I get chronic headaches from astigmatism and really need to invest in a good pair but I'm terrible at picking them out 🙂
I had my bag stolen a few months ago and my glasses were in it :-( so nice to have them back for when my eyeballs need a rest from my contacts
You should get laser surgery. Never have to think about it again ;)
Super cute glasses!

Justified Militia it massages your muscles
Thank u.
You look good with or without glasses 😊😍
Nice glasses they look kind of like the snapchat t spectacles
what about gear?!!!
harry osukuku yes a lifting belt would help. 😔
Two questions. Your thoughts on tens/muscle stim units? And second how can I try to get the wife into the gym with me. Oh and keep the glasses. 👌

I hate using car buffers! They don't give the same effect, and make me feel itchy. LOL is that weird?
hii meg's
The Thumper is far superior.
I like being a little overtrained
Glasses 👌🏻
the size of your head is smaller inside your glasses, that was freaky. I need that massager!
Where's your flannel? :(
