    Yep, another hit! You are EXTREMELY talented. I really enjoy seeing what you come up with next, because its always done so professionally! Last time I saw one of your videos it was Plo Koon, I've been away for a while, not by choice, so glad to see you have kept on going!!

    I was inspired to try this project. Bought the magnet kit pictured and everything. Getting it to actually balance and float is extremely difficult.

    The piece itself was gorgeous, but that floating effect just made it fantastic. So glad you were able to get that to work. What an amazing piece!! It's interesting that you had to remove so much material from the top half of the sphere to make the weight asymmetrical. I would've thought the big magnet in the bottom of the thing would do that. It was definitely the right move, though.

    you gotta show off more. pass a pencil under it to be like "look guys, it floats" lol

    I built one about 15-20 years ago, using a real 6" hemisphere and as many of the actual model parts as possible (truck rims and tank cupolas and other parts). Couldn't get it to float properly, so I added a magnet to the top, and used a levitation device that had a top and bottom (kinda like a question mark). Then I tied an invisible fishing line to the bottom of the remote and the bottom of the base. The magnets on top are strong enough to pull the remote upwards, while the string holds it down.

    I'm worried about your hands, friend! You wore gloves during the least toxic part of the build relative to the others. I know you know, but for the others that may follow in your footsteps resin is nasty stuff on bare skin and 405nm UV light is like a little ball of direct sunlight and will give you burns. Be safe!

    Okay, that is fantastic! I printed and made one 3-4 years ago with my FDM printer and sanding was a royal pain! That process with the cut up parts and high resolution resin printer made it look so easy!
    I tried to look into making mine float too. I'm glad you managed to get yours to float. Excellent job! I can't wait to see the next project!

    About the dynamic layer hight: the Mars 4 Ultra's .goo file format (and I assume the printer itself as well) supports changing almost any parameter per layer. You'd just need a slicer that supports that or custom a postprocessing tool.

    For weathering, I would have guessed to make it more clean with scratches and slash marks on it sense it would have been used for training and indoors more instead of getting dirty and stuff. Still looks amazing

    You're always making the stuff on my to-do list lol, it's great motivation for me to get caught up. You did an awesome job!! The parts you did in chrome were most definitely chrome on the original, they are wheels from a model kit of a transport truck (18 wheeler) and were chromed like you'd expect from a car model kit part. Also, for the large and small eyes, the original used reflective safety tape, that's why those spots "glow" on screen.

      That’s fantastic to know, thank you! I had wondered what the lenses were made from because in some of the pictures of the prop they look like they have a slight texture to them. Now I know what to get if I ever find myself making another one.

    Very cool! I wonder what the range of wireless chargers are? It would be cool to be able to have one of those some how rigged to the base so you could have a little circuit in the Training Remote for lights (I can't remember if they had lights... so it might be moot). Great result... impressive... most impressive!

    what materiel are you using on your circuit to make the stencils to get those nice clean lines? :)

    • @MMsPropShop
      @MMsPropShop  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just used some stencil vinyl like this: amzn.to/4aEJRs8
      It has a lower tack adhesive on the back so it will peel off easily without damaging the paint underneath.

  • @antdanny
    @antdanny 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Very good job! Is it possible to make the sphere light up?

    • @MMsPropShop
      @MMsPropShop  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In theory, yes. If you wanted to keep it levitating and also light up, it would need to use some sort of battery powered light that could be accessible for turning on/off and charging. That was a bit more complicated than I felt like dealing with for this build, but it would be really easy to run lighting and wires into the ball if you were ok with a more static displayed version.
