So fast after I released it, I haven't even finished my build video yet!!
Whoops 🙈 what can I say, I was excited to build a Pip 😂
Great job on the files!
@@MMsPropShop No, thank you for building it. It looks amazing!
Great to see two TH-camrs helping each other out. Excellent work you two, thank you both.
Masking fluid in the applicator bottle is genius! I’m definitely going to give that a try.
Excellent build! And I agree with VanOaksProps, that applicator bottle is a game changer.
Love the build and the detailed files - great work to say the least ! And it IS a ton of work, esp adding the electronics.
Again, thank you for sharing, and sharing your workflow! .
Excellent build! I agree with @VanoaksProps, that applicator bottle trick is a game changer!
Love your work so much. It's insane how fast files are available after a new series is launched. And it's even more insane how fast you are with your builds. Amazing job!
Thank you! Yeah it’s crazy how fast people can produce quality files for prints. Not complaining though, gives me the chance to build things while they’re new and exciting.
I love that you’re posting videos so frequently as of late.
Keep.
Them.
Coming.
‼️
Definitely putting this in my project queue 👍
thank you for all the great content you do . i am new to 3d printing and was watching one of your videos and you were sanding with a foot sander . i picked one up and that simple tool has changed everything for me .Now im trying to get all my projects painted before winter . Thank yOU
Haha, I feel you with the winter rush. Trying to figure out how many droid builds I can pack into my summer and early fall schedule 😂
Such good work!
It looks adorable and great.
A hint with buying exact shades of paint: you can take a screenshot of the paint color you want and then use a free online paint analyzer to get the RAL or RGB number. Lots of places will have that number as a reference on their paints or websites
Really great tip! Not sure if I’d ever personally trust a single colour sample as a reference point though; I’m way too picky about paint colours 😂
I feel like that'd work if you managed to find the reference object in like
A flat white light
But after all the lighting that goes into a scene not so sure how accurate it'd be
Looks amazing. Great job.
Amazing job. I’ll try to emulate on my pip
Wow! Great work!
You did an amazing job on this one!
Fantastic work! Really impreased with how that "worn decal" paintjob thrned out
Thank you! That was probably the most challenging part of the build, haha!
Looks amazing!!! 🤩
Montana has the right colors
Do you happen to have a video showing the mix you use for your washes? They always look so great!
I don’t, but I pretty much just follow this recipe: th-cam.com/video/IokSYHu58V8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MRO2el4r0cFn9HNb
very nice !!
You should do a tour of all the droids and props you have made. Also love the droid
It’s on the to do list! Just need to keep my workshop semi clean for a couple of days to be able to film it 😂
Crazy, the shape language of the prop Lucas film made doesn’t feel like starwars. It’s not quite the original trilogy shape language, and it’s not close to the prequels. I wonder what they were thinking when the concept artists threw this one together. Good job representing the prop ! I’d be awesome to see you build a pit droid.
I would assume it’s because it predates everything. Wouldn’t want it to look like the styles of equipment haven’t been updated in 100 years.
Pit droids are definitely on the agenda! I’ve got a custom one I need to finish painting and then a couple of Mando style ones.
@@MMsPropShop right, I agree with you ! just interesting because the earlier we get in star wars the cleaner things get shape language wise. Naboo for example and their respective ships are very clean and streamline in their approach compared to the industrial brutalist look as you progress into the timeline. Jedi survivals high republic architecture is a good example of this. Wonder if they will release some art for the show once it’s all out.
Awesome ! Looking forward to it
No doubt they were trying not to copy the same tired old styles that we've been seeing for the past 50 years.
I'm not trying to be rude, but I don't like this take, as someone who very much studies the design language of starwars I argue it 100% feels like starwars, just this era of starwars, go look at old republic droid designs, it's very clear the "high republic" era design is inspired by this cleaner but much more angular lower tech era. Which makes sense, theres been very little conflict for a long time in this time period, the galaxys is prospering which means people are probably buying more new droids, ships, etc instead of repairing and cobbling together ships and droids for as long as possible and the clean new droids and ships that you do see in the prequels era tend to be very simple, plain and utilitarian. Look at say cars from the 50s and cars today, do they look the same to you? Design language changes, I think its just weird for people who aren't used to it to see a different era of star wars
@@slowazzd2165 I think you might have missed what I am meaning when I say it doesn’t fit the design language of the period in Star Wars. It feels starwars ish but it feels like it’s part of a different era, particularly the OT era with a bright color palette. It should feel different, but there should also be a clear stylistic progression through the time line. Prequels to OT are a perfect example. Look at the already established design and shape language of the high republic in the Jedi survivor game. That’s is very different and much more elegant than we have here in this prop. The droid Zee or (Zn-A4) in that game for example was more ornamental and organic, more artistically focused due to the time of peace in the galaxy. You can see its art deco inspiration in the design. Its design being already established should drive the look of that era to a degree since it is cannon.
Just to throw it out there I am a working concept artist who specializes in prop, costume design and world building in the entertainment industry primarily focused on sci-fi. Not like that gives me any sort of authority, but I do study and create design language for a living at a professional level. Always happy to discuss stuff like this !
At 10:30 you say 'LED foam' what exactly is that? I don't think I've heard you call that out before
It’s this type of foam sheet that’s specifically designed to diffuse light. It’s sort of like EVA foam but less dense and more transparent. Comes in various thicknesses for different levels of diffusion. Cosplay shops normally sell it.
@@MMsPropShop Oh thanks! Now I see the Plastazote LED EVA foam. Somehow adding 'cosplay' to the search gave me more useful results. This is a new material to me so I may have to experiment. BTW the foot sander and plastic welder are amazingly good at their jobs, thanks for pointing them out
Instead of the AI companies making useless AI gadgets, why don’t they make AI powered droids
So, you want tech companies to build Skynet and create terminators
First!
2012 called, it wants it's tired joke back.
Very very cool indeed
