just bought the usb, I'm really excited, thing sounds way better than your average gaming headset

If I am not mistaken you compared the uni mode on modmic usb to the omni on modmic 5

The Modmic5 and the later USB version use identical omni capsules. The cardioid uni capsules differ, but that doesn't concern me personally. Could be the digital ADC in the USB unit some people don't care for the sound of over the Modmic5's analogue output. Others prefer the sound of the USB version.

If I have the cloud revolvers, would you recommend switching to dt 990s with an amp/dac? How much of a difference is it?
DT 990 600ohm version. Not all headphones sound that different when they come in different ohm versions but the DT 770, 880, and 990 all have different/better/worse sound depending on the ohm version. If you don't have a soundcard with built-in headphone amp or one of the less common high-end motherboards built-in headphone amp then I'd 100% get an amp (or dac/amp combo too but at least the amp).
990s are overrated and you can get better sound for the same price
im getting the modmic usb, i can make it sound better then a modmic 5 by using voicemeeter

@@mrforhimself0353 it's a virtual interface that has EQ in it to enhance the way the mic sounds, it also has where you can use multiple inputs at the same time, you can connect you phone from aux to aux to your pc and use it for music too, I do it all the time

just bought the dt 990 with soundblaster g6 and the wired mod mic... only thing i dont like is not having side tone...
I'm planning to buy same combo too. Do you recommend it mate ? Does ingame sound leak into mic on discord? Since dt 990 open back headphone. ( i don't want to disturb my friends in shooters games.) And how is directional sound in competitive games? I'm between mmx 300 and dt 990. Thanks ! !! ^^
@@UndomieLsy ALOT of people on reddit say they get no sound leakage at all when using this combo. At first, my friends were complaining that they can hear my gameplay. However, if you use discord, you can adjust the mic sensitivity. That worked for me and now they cant hear my game play, so that was an easy fix. However if you plan on streaming using OBS, the sound leakage is BAD. I did some research and bought a 3rd party app called "Krisp" (same sound suppression Discord uses), and now I can stream and talk to my friends without sound leak. As for directional sound.... the G6 gets VERY loud. However the directional sound was not as good as I expected.... after doing some research, I found a guy on reddit that recommended me settings and now the directional sound is way better. I dont use the software that soundblaster provides for the G6. I bought dolby digital from windows for 8.1 surround, and use provided settings for Equalizer APO. Its honestly a pain because I expected this setup to be really good at first. But I had to buy and do certain things to make it really good. Another thing to take into consideration is that I am a competitive gamer, so I am very picky.... If you are just a casual gamer then you dont even need to do all this stuff... I currently play only warzone so I catered my sounds for that game... and from what I heard Warzone has really bad audio.

I'm not gonna risk it and i'll buy closed back headphones. MMx 300 or dt 770 + modmic Usb is my new target. Dt 990 is awesome for sure but i can't deal with it. Many EQ costumization, many settings, buying apps and stuff sounds too much for me ^^ I just want to plug it in and use. Thank you again ! My mind is so much clear now.

@@hugo7229 Sorry mate. I didin't buy yet. Covid delayed everything :D . But i kept digging and decided buying an open back headphone for sure. Bigger soundstage is what i want for both competitive gaming and imagination. So im not gonna buy mmx300 definetly. I'll buy blue yeti mic and dt990 + dacamp combo. That's my plan. If i made it, i'll let you know defienetly ! Take care ! :)
agreed about the extra foot, and wish cable could be replaced.

I have the ModMic 5, but I always get this weird buzzing sound in the background. I think it might be due to electrical interference, but I am using a USB adapter. How do you get your audio to sound so crisp?
The onboard audio on my motherboard is pretty decent. That can make a big difference in buzzing or hiss with the mic
It is the cable. I spent fucking hours researching this shit, everyone thinks its the motherboard audio but it isn't. It's literally the fucking cable for some odd ass reason. I ordered a 3.5mm cable from a 3rd party seller and it didn't help. Then I ordered a slightly thicker 3.5mm cable and it completely fixed it. I think it honestly depends on if you buy a cheap cable and the one they give you with the mic is cheap as shit. I'd link the cable I bought but I don't want to seem like an ad since I'm not.
