I have a 23 year old MDX and its running great, never a problem.
Honda haven't figured out how to do it themselves yet, and this way there's economies of scale due to shared engineering and parts and production facilities. It is a good thing at this point
When the first gen of ZDX came out, I went to the dealership to view it in person. After closer looking at the details and touring the inside of it, I was very disappointed and not at all interested in the design of the vehcile. Big mistake. Sandy Monroe reviewed the GM battery pack and called it garbage. GM will certainly go bankrupt in a few years. Unless Honda / Acura offers their own superior platform quickly, they will follow GM to the graveyard.
The only thing on the interior that is similar to the blazer is the steering wheel because they need it for the hands free driving component. The interior looks more like a luxury version of the Honda Prologue. The blazer interior looks closer to a Lexus or Toyota and the air vents in the blazer are just juvenile.

You lost me as soon as you said GM based vehicle. Love Honda/Acura but yeah I’ll wait for a fully developed in house EV from Honda/Acura.
I was hoping for more out of Acura, especially not a partnership with an american co. Regardless, one has to think the company is not enthusiastic about dropping their fantastic line of IC engines which they have toiled on for years and are very emissions friendly. I have a 23 year old MDX and its running great, never a problem.
I love this reporter
I wished Acura launched some hybrid versions rather than this car
Does any version of the ZDX EV come with 7 seaters 3 rows seats?
Wow! An Acura I finally like the looks of. Distinction with out the negative visual assault. The chrome line ends where it should...
Sweet styling but Acura (Honda) used a GM platform? I don’t get it.
Honestly, I thought it was an ugly car and figured, "No one is gonna take this seriously." I was correct to a point. Ask yourself, when was the last time you actually saw the first gen of the ZDX on the road? However, this new gen is a far cry from the old gen. I honestly like it moreso than its predecessor and think that Acura and GM did a nice job on it. But those prices make me wanna stick to ICE's.
i have a 2011 ZDX & a 1994 Legend Coupe…both are phenomenal vehicles and fun to drive
You are absolutely correct. I went to test drive a ZDX in 2013 and it was horrible. Heavy, cramped inside, no trunk space, weak old engine and it was a gas guzzler. Of course it failed, people were buying an MDX for the same price.
@@00_UU with the same old junk engine, right? 😂😂😂
@@pharaohacura3618 did I say it was junk? It was weak, yes. I ended up buying a 2013 RDX, it was a way better riding premium crossover at that time while priced around 20k cheaper. 3.5 V6 in the RDX felt much better, it also drove lighter and had a huge trunk that I definitely used.
The Legend Coupe in LS trim was the dream.
I have to say, the best thing about Honda/Acura cars was their engines. This is sort of sad.
It looks really good.
As a Honda owner I think I would just get the Lyric. Especially, since it is cheaper.
Apple Car Play! Woohoo! Good job Acura!
Hey Clint, nicely done. Is the ZDX moving to NACS in 2025 too then?
Does this have an active rear wing
I like it 🔥 wow, bang there! I’m in game! Thx for review
Surprised they would name an all new car in a competitive segment after a a previous failure. When does the Pontiac Aztec EV come out?
Big mistake. Sandy Monroe reviewed the GM battery pack and called it garbage. GM will certainly go bankrupt in a few years. Unless Honda / Acura offers their own superior platform quickly, they will follow GM to the graveyard.
The only thing on the interior that is similar to the blazer is the steering wheel because they need it for the hands free driving component. The interior looks more like a luxury version of the Honda Prologue. The blazer interior looks closer to a Lexus or Toyota and the air vents in the blazer are just juvenile.
Man, Acura really going down the wrong path…
Personally, that silver classic ZDX in the beginning of this video looked much better!! This looks like a MDX labeled as a ZDX if you ask me
So the drivetrain is GM and the battery is GM and the platform is GM and the interior is GM. But Honda put their software in the GM infotainment system, has Acura seats and Acura exterior panels 😅
This is basically a GM car.. probably made in a GM factory also.
Nothing wrong with that. I drive a newer GM car and it is excellent after trading in my old 2013 Acura RDX.
@civicpride1986 It's built at GM's huge assembly plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico together with Blazer and Equinox.
You forgot to mention Acura brand badges. Everyone knows that is what makes an Acura a true Acura! 😂
On our 9th Acura. I saw a review of the Lyriq and was impressed. Thinking the Caddy association is not a bad thing. ZDX is good looking and 500 hp on S-type is a big plus. Don’t drive a lot so not super motivated and wary of any first model…really surprised it’s ready this soon. Definitely will give it a look. Wonder if it will have the Tesla universal charging port.
Acura(Dad)+GM(Mon)=EV(Son). looking Good Hope the price is not so high.
It will be very high
The GM ZDX!
The silver part on the bottom of the car is killing me
Looks ok , everything is similar to the Lyriq included pricing
Normal door handles!! Thank you for not redesigning something that worked great already! Can’t say I’m liking the silver line along the bottom of the side profile, but overall not bad, and the GM motor/battery specs are good. Time will tell if it holds up to Acura/Honda quality expectations.
-An MBA wearing a bad suit…
“Let’s name an GM product masquerading as an Acura that’s really just a Honda after an unremarkable product that failed for us miserably”
-His boss
“Yes”!!!
Love it, next car….thank you!
The only thing is the GM tech interface on the ZDX is way nicer and easier to use than the Acura touchpad controller on the MDX and RDX which is maddening at best.
Nice review. Just so you know, “Share in common” is redundant. It’s either “share” or “have in common”.
Very disappointed on the interior. If I wanted a Lyric I would get one. What is happening to Acura?
The new ZDX will be as successful as the old ZDX. The people that buy Acuras are not EV fans. It is a GM dud.
Beautiful. Inside and out
it looks amazin,g, Im glad that they made the design inside and out look like a gas car but its ev. I will say that if this was a 3rd row they would have hit a home, basically a ev mdx ! that would have been the best!
The chrome trim looks like a landau bar on a hearse.
Thanks for the quick review! Anyone knows where is it’s production plant? Will it qualify for the full tax credit?
Does it also have the flimsy charge door?
I'm wondering if it has all those GM parts, assuming they're made in America, if that would qualify buyers for rebates under the IRA?
Not Cadillac, Chevy Blazer it shares - same plant.
Not going to sale!!!! I will not.. markup will be crazy..
Should of been a gas/electric hybrid
Hi, Clint! 👋🏾
Where is this going to be manufactured?
GM assembly plant in Mexico.
Does it have 3rd row?
I can’t believe Honda has gotten this lasy to be using GM platforms. Wow
That’s a really fancy looking hurst 😏
Something about the design rear side profile looks like a Hurst
Having lived through enough of GM’s problems (Dex-Cool, Piston Slap, 6.0L excessive oil consumption) I’m out. Honda, this will prove a poor decision.
100% correct
The main thing I dislike about it is the fact that it's all electric. Other than that, I have no majors beefs with the styling of the vehicle. I think all of these manufacturers who are switching to total electric lineups are making a big mistake.
I really hope they do a gasoline version! Twin turbo v6, be great!
Cute Clint❤
LOVE❤️
i am a big Honda fan, never a GM fan, don’t trust them.
Why does Honda use old technology and go with GM, waste of time.
Team up with CATL for those latest technology
If you still can’t figure it out just Shut up. Apparently Honda knows more about *gm* than you do, that’s for sure.
I like the look of the upcoming Honda Prologue better. As is typical of Acura vs Honda its going to be much cheaper but still as reliable.
But it is not an Acura, it's a GM product.
It's not a honda acura product
Shared platform with GM sound like a mistake
Why? How much do you know about it?
I wonder if it can be ordered in the S model without sunroof 🤔
Awesome suv, but hopefully we don't have to get out of place silver strip at bottom, and Honda built quality. Would be nice options of hybrid systems
I feel bad for Acura because Honda refused to go electric sooner and kept downplaying EVs. Acura is more of a modern younger-leaning premium brand, which is the hottest market for EVs, and they had to resort to using a competitor’s platform because Honda of course couldn’t supply.
Hopefully Honda can redeem itself and give Acura a solid in-house platform.
