I built one using some arduinos and an hp printer i basically just got a broken hp designjet and made a cartesian motion sustem using linear rails then found the signal out for the motors on the stock design and send the layer's as pages using the default hp driver. The out signal goes into a aruino like microcontroller. Then to a rpi, the rpi uses a 3d printer motherboard and motion control software to drive stepper motors which drive belts for the print heads and ball screws on the x and z axis. The biggest pain in the ass is that the print heads clog up FAST but theyre about 30 dollars each, and if i dont leave ink sitting in then it wouldn't happen. Anyways i suck at making videos but i was hoping someone made a howto on what they did since im having problems with the print heads clogging i think im gonna have to build some custom ink pumping solution that can have the ink in one and cleaner in another then clean out the print heads every so often... or my uv lights are needing to be on a seperate carriage. My long term goal with the project is to make a diy fused deposition modeling printer
The other thing im still wondering is if i can get away from using the hp board to drive the printheads because sometimes the delays are different and it will cause a bit of "tearing" in the printed image
