Watching this now after watching your final build of the bike 8 months later. First of all enjoyed this 24 hr build, really liked the way the bike finally turned out. It also reminds how far you have come Eric and how much enjoyment you give to many. Thank you Eric.👍👏
@motorcyclerewind another great episode 👏 Stuff always takes longer than we think, especially with the piston issue. I still wonder what caused the damage, a real odd one? Right, 2.30am, I better grab some sleep, like you could've done with in the vid! 😁
It’s about trying and you did thinking it would be ok but motor wasn’t you did more than well ❤ proud of you .dont put you’re self down you are great ❤
My zx10r dropped a valve last summer and yes i got a hole in piston, bent valve and to top it off bottom of cylinder head was gouged out so i needed a cylinder head also😢😢 but all is fixed now. Now i also have a 95 fzr600 with rod that went through lower cases. I personally view you as a fabricator because your vision goes beyond what you actually see in front of you and you make the changes yourself. 👍🏽😎👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🏁🏁🏁
Really enjoyed the video. It popped up in my feed and seemed like something I might like. I did. One of the first things I noticed was the Spitfire in the background. My first car back in the early eighties was a 1970 mkIII. Between that and my 69 bug, they forced me to learn a lot about working on cars. I also noticed the F150 in the back. My first full size truck was an old ‘77 that I bought for $500. It wasn’t pretty but did serve me well. I would love to find another one. I look forward to the completion of this project. I am not sure about the 24 hour thing though. It is nice to have a chunk of time to work on a project because it takes a while to get your head in the project. But too long in the project I worry about fatigue impacting the quality of my decisions. Thanks for your work. Tim
I’m so stoked you dropped this video. I have CB500T I picked up for $75 and am looking for inspiration to continue working on it 😂 Do you have plans to do a CB450 or 500T by chance? 🤞🏽
A cool trick about cleaning up valves . I chuck the brush and press the valves into the brush as the drill press is spinning . I have good control of the placement where I want to clean the valves . The drill press turns much slower than a bunch grinder with a wire wheel and easher that a drill .
Firstly, sod the CB350 Police! secondly, that was a valiant effort. did you take a look down inside the case to see if there was any more debris? I'm concerned with the issue you discovered with the cam chain that there might be more horrors to yet unfold... I think it does look good, even though I'm not a cafe racer fan at all - looking forward to the next installment 😀
There's no rush, less haste - more speed. Did you end up checking the valve seats, valves and seals? Won't you need an under-seat rear fender. Love the seat & tank flow, the project is looking good.
Enjoying the videos. Just watched the entire gpz playlist. Love that bike! Anyhow. I am enjoying the content. I am a mechanic myself but of the 4 wheel variety. Keep on keeping on. P.s. you remind me of the v.w. life guys. Great channel if you like air cooled vw s
Wow!!! Thanks for watching that GPZ was so much fun. I am going to look up the VW Life Guys. Love a beetle. My 2nd car was a 74 SuperBeetle. I had a 7:30 am class in Tuesdays and Thursdays. So I would sleep in it in the parking lot on campus.
Okay I don't know what country this guy is from or is in but you need to check out his sight it is called the restorator. He has some pretty cool ways of restoring parts
this and the 360 are 2 bikes I would never restore, rode them too much, had to work on too many of them, saw how bad the problems really were, notorious for breaking camshafts, if timing chain got slack, but seen too much slack happen before time for oil change, due to 1 of neighborhood "HEAVY" kids owning, and not good with shifting, so yes revving too much, leaving in gear too long, and breaking cam under 2k miles I made money building them, as found them cheap, stored them friends basement, had 20+ at 1 time, we mixed and matched parts, so how would you know what is correct these days, my friend always prefered drum brake, so we made him several, removing all disc brake hardware, while I liked disc better my best friend had moved on to "better" Honda" engines that wasnt as finicky, and I think there was 7 parts bikes in his basement when he died, I ignored them, he has been gone 15-16 years,
Fortunate that you have spares locally. For me it’s usually 3 to 4 days shipping on eBay. Congrats, you made a lot of progress in just a day. As you pointed out, if not for that pesky piston, that bike would be getting down the road.
Meanwhile.. the new to me $20 z50 has newer used wheels that aren't rusted through Swiss cheese, Amazon seat replacement, and a very slow drip from the carb. I think it's the 40 yr old float needle has dryrotted rubber tip
Not sure where my neighbor got it. But here is a link to one of amotopart.com/products/raw-fuel-tank-cap-petcock-fit-for-benelli-mojave-260-360-cafe-racer-cb-xs-generic
I like it buddy! I’d like to know what you think of my Honda 200twin l just finished all the engine cases. They had that factory Honda flat silvery gray paint on all the engine cases. Well, my friend gave me a dinosaur of an old heavy bench grinder. I bought a 10 inch cotton polishing wheel. Now all my engine cases and covers look like a mirror finish. It has taken me SO long to polish them after using an old can of MEK to remove the paint. It’s starting to look so nice. Ya know, I like your way of painting your chassis. Just a foam brush…wow and it looks great. Can you let me know where you got it? I’m going to use that method rather than making another mess of overspray in my garage. I surprised myself with the new vintage style tank I painted a duo tone. I’d like to have your opinion on my project. I was a Harley guy all my life. I still have a Road King but I’m 46 now with no help with my projects. So I’m REALLY becoming a vintage Honda fan because the parts are so light to lift and reassemble. Plus, I don’t know where my sense of style was all my young life. These Honda Twins and other old Japanese bikes are amazingly styled and so reliable. I restored a little 88 CR 80 to new condition and people are beating my door down to buy it from me. Must be the nostalgia because when I was a kid in the 80’s that particular bike was my dream bike but it was $ 1500 new back then and my dad could barley keep us going to school in Nikes and decent jeans. I love your channel and your taste. You offered to help me get my kickstarter assembly back in order. Now that my cases are all polished and ready for assembly ( with all new hex head replacement kits😅) I will probably be sending you my info you asked for to give me some tips😊👍🏻 You take care buddy and you and your family have a merry Christmas n Happy New Year!

Wow!!!...Amazing amount of work and progress...Love your attitude and presentation...You inspire people to get their hands dirty...Thanks...
Thanks Michael. Can’t wait to finish this guy.
Great job and great message to the viewers. Looked like a great time working in the shop all night. Love the bikes.
Yes it was loads of fun. Next time I do it, I would like to add a friend to the mix. Thanks for watching.
Just home to the UK from work in France. It's 0130, and the TV is on for this video. I have a JD and Coke poured, and I can't wait 😁👍
Nick thanks so much for hope you enjoy. As always thanks for watching.

I think it was a fresh rebuild that was torpedoed by a massive crack in the intake boot. Got really lean and put a hole in the piston.
It’s about trying and you did thinking it would be ok but motor wasn’t you did more than well ❤ proud of you .dont put you’re self down you are great ❤
Definitely happy with the progress. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching. I don’t need fatigue to make bad decisions.😂 I have an uncanny ability to do that on own.
Looks great and an amazing effort. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished bike.
Thanks for videos. Really enjoy your work.
Thanks it was fun. Appreciate you for watching.
I’m so stoked you dropped this video. I have CB500T I picked up for $75 and am looking for inspiration to continue working on it 😂
Do you have plans to do a CB450 or 500T by chance? 🤞🏽
I have a few videos of my own 1968 CB450 K1. There is a CL450 in the queue along with another CB450. Thanks for watching.
@@motorcyclerewind if you ever find a vintage kawasaki 440, those are super fun.. and boy to they run and idle well, if you get those carbs dialed in
Almost bought one a few months back. He wanted more than what I wanted to pay for its condition!
I. Think. It's. Going. To. Be. Really. Cool. Looking
I think so too! Thanks for watching
Gess that is bad man . Your lucky as heck not to loose an eye . Dang .
Definitely lucky. 🍀 That is missed my eye and a great surgeon was on call. Just a slight scar.
There's a hole in your piston, dear Eric, dear Eric. There's a hole in your piston, dear Eric, a hole! (old song)
That’s an oldie by a goodie😂🤣😂
Another really good one. Love the interlude music. Thanks.
Appreciate that. The music can be very divisive😂. People love it or hate it. Thanks for watching.
Amazing work! With so much modesty! You re a master builder! Love that little bike the tank is so coool!!
Thanks, that is so kind.

That’s a great tip. Thanks for sharing. Now I need to let the wife know I need a drill press!🤣 Thanks for watching.
Would love to see the seat mount fabrication! Great job!
Yes sir I will show it in the next video. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it.
It's looking cool. nice and simple 👌. I have to say though ever video with your truck in the back ground I find myself staring at that ❤😅
Don't feel bad. I do the same thing. It is my daily driver it makes friends everywhere it goes. Thanks for watching.
Excellent effort, looking forward to seeing it running down the road!
Me too!!! Thanks for watching.
I Like it. it looks really cool 👍
Thanks for watching.
Love those videos, and bikes! Got to change pistons on my CJ 360 as soon as they arrive in Belgium!
Thanks so much. Really appreciate you watching.
I love it! Great work. The freestyle fluid way you build and design shows in your great artwork. Please keep it up.
Thanks. I am a visual person and have to mock it up than adjust. Thanks for watching.
Great post, sometimes the best designs came from the back of Cigarette packet, great work both on the bike and the camera......
Thanks so much. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants. It has worked so far 😂😂😂. Thanks for watching
Bloody good effort. I’d lose the ace ‘bars and 2” raised handlebars on it but that’s just me 😀
Thanks so much for watching.

Thanks for watching. Ended up splitting the cases to make sure it is good and to get the part I dropped into it. 😂
@@motorcyclerewind when we will see the next installment please Eric?
You might be onto something with the blown piston running lean. I’m doing a CB360 that has a #1 and valves in identical condition.
Good job 👏
Thanks Graham!!! Thanks for watching.
Fantastic video. Makes me want to go work on the Suzuki I’ve been putting off
Go do it. Which Suzuki is it? Thanks for watching.
@@motorcyclerewind 1982 GS450ga. I’ve got the carbs all pulled apart on the bench just need to get in there and put it back together.
Been there! It's why I have so many projects going at once because I get bored.
There's no rush, less haste - more speed. Did you end up checking the valve seats, valves and seals? Won't you need an under-seat rear fender. Love the seat & tank flow, the project is looking good.
I did take all of the valves out to check the seats and to make sure none were bent. They were all good.

@motorcyclerewind very cool. Always have loved the old VWs. Noticed the brittish sports car in the corner. Any content about it at some point?
Quite ambitious of you! Get some sleep 🥱🛌
This was a fun challenge. Thanks for watching.
Wire thing might be rolled pieces of ring material...chunks..I'm with you its probably piston debris
Was not expecting a hole in the piston.
Looks good.
Thanks. Really appreciate you watching.
Cool done❤

wow he is so knowledgeable of the Honda engines. I had a 305 super hawk. Anothony do you sell anything you fix? I would love to have a 650 Yamaha.
Thanks. Yes we sell lots of motorcycles. I can’t keep them all. 🤣 sure would love to try.

Hi Eric, great Video as always - just wanted to say I called the holed piston right at the start as soon as you said zero compression 🇬🇧
Yes you did.
Would like to see it finished
Me too! Should be finished pretty quickly. Thanks for watching.

Plastic bits from the cam chain tensioner
Ended up splitting the cases because I dropped the little rubber pieces that hold tensioner. Least I was able to clean everything up.
You failed because you talk to. Much without doing anything
