Thank you! My grandfather passed about a month ago and I got his banjo. An old 5 string Sovereign resonator banjo it's surprisingly still in tune despite not being played in over 40 years, I ordered some strings but being a mandolinist and guitarist was so confused at the types of straps. It's not worth anything money wise but it's worth a lot to me because it was his. It's not of an insignificant weight, and my back and joints are bad, so while I can sit classical style with it I wanted to get a strap and this was fantastically helpful. I've never played, hell I've never held, a 5 string banjo before 3 days ago so here we go down this rabbit hole.
I kinda thought if you have a mastertone/gibson type Banjo you had to start right behind the tail ? If I’m wrong I sure appreciate being squared away ! And Thankyou for any help or suggestions. I’m new to the Banjo so there is a little learning curve . I have a Goldtone if that helps .
I'm curently playing a Gold Tone OB-3 and I have a new Neotech Slimline Banjo Strap. I have always connected a strap to the first rod above the tail piece. Is there an advantage to connecting below the tail piece, and if so, should I thread under the tailpiece rod or over it? Thanks
Always wondered why old time players sling the strap over their right shoulder, while modern players run the strap over their left shoulder like a guitarist?
transtremm maby cuz oldtime Banjo’s can b a lot lighter. A mastertone runs 13lbs I like to overhead cuz after a while they hurt but theirs a lot of ppl just do the shoulder Earl Scruggs just did the shoulder
My Rouge 5 string Banjo already includes a Strap & what's really neat is that the Strap helps keep the instrument in playing position.
Thank you!

Very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks very helpful for a new player. Think I will go with the Neotech...now to find one in Canada!
Thank you! So helpful!
Yeah, that's super helpful! I just got a banjo and was wondering how to at attach a strap. No strap pegs that I could find like on my basses.
0:00 first strap
8:18 second strap
10:22 last strap
Thanks, after watching I have a definite preference.

For sure!
Thank You for providing this information.... Very helpful
Thank you
I definitely need the one for the neck and back problems but most for my shoulders. I can’t be holding the neck up the whole time
Would adding a strap onto the hooks mess with the tension of the resonator head?
Where does the bottom attach with that neoprene strap?

If you keep the strap on all the time will it hurt the finish?
I want to know where to connect on my new Mulucky banjolele??
Hi
Who sells the first strap you demonstrated?
I have a Recording King Rk 35 and live in the UK.
Thanks for the demo.
That's a Lakota bison strap: store.banjobenclark.com/collections/straps/products/lakota-chocolate-brown-strap
Those barrel screws are also called sex bolts!
Do you sell these straps.
Sure do! Here you go: store.banjobenclark.com/collections/straps
That looks like an Iida banjo.
I recently started playing wearing a strap. Its 100 times easier it's true

I love my banjo but, I can't stand the strap.
