    I'll just say my dad owned one of the largest Amiga retailers in Canada and we sold a ton of Worms 2. It was one of my favorite games growing up. Seeing all these emails, etc had been wonderful. Thank you.

    When I was 15 I did my work experiences at team 17 in wakefield UK. I worked for 2 weeks in the testing team, It was around the time worms world party was going though final beta. Black and white had just come out and the guys installed it on my PC and I played it all day.
    I was even treated to playing a developer version of PS2 I cannot remember what I played I would like to say it was unreleased GT2000, but i really cannot remember.
    the guys were absolutely mad, it really wasn't work, it was just play all day. at one point the 2 sandwich vans came at the same time and had a fight in the car park.

    The icons are a mixture of stock standard, MagicWB - which is suitable for all Amigas running OS 2.0 or greater - and NewIcons which is for AGA machines only.
    Fun fact:- The NewIcons system was created by Nicola Salmoria, the Italian chappy who is famous for creating the MAME arcade emulator.

    • @namakudamono
      @namakudamono 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First Surname Not necessarily requiring AGA, but NewIcons looked better with higher bit depth screen modes. It looks like this Amiga Workbench is using an 8 colour screen, with a MagicWB palette.

    • @firstsurname9893
      @firstsurname9893 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@namakudamono Yes strictly speaking you're correct about NewIcons. It will run on a pre-AGA Amiga but the restrictions with regard to suitable screenmodes i.e. low res or a downgraded colour palette, somewhat defeat the purpose of using it at all.
      The JPG deficons at 4:39 clearly show more than 8 colours, we can only guess what the actual number is.

    • @namakudamono
      @namakudamono 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First Surname Ah, good point about using more than 8 colours. Back in the day, I used to use a Super72 screenmode at 32 colours on my A1200 ‘030 - this offered a reasonably good balance between speed, (chip) memory, and appearance. When I upgraded to a custom tower with Zorro II blackplane and Cybervision 64/3D gfx card, I switched to a 1024x768 high colour screenmode and remember being amazed by the speed boost!

    I'm pretty sure those pictures are not supposed to look that bad - they're being dithered to 16 colours when they should be being shown as 256. So they did NOT look as bad as that...

    That Workbench looks great compared to what came with my original A2000.

    Make sure you back that hard disk up, it will be under a lot of strain due to the old grease and it has the potential to ruin the motor driving circuitry

    MUI is a collection of GUI replacement libraries (windows, screens etc). The icons on the desktop are most likely the imaginatively named 'NewIcons'.

    going from the Amiga to the Pc I entered a world of clutter and disorganisation in everything that is windows.... viewing this reminds me of how clean the UI was back then compared to the glitzy crap we have today...

      The amiga was a 16-bit computer! C64.org has some 8-bit porn archived however.

    Haven't even started watching the video, but I know this will be good. You can't go wrong a saturday noon with Mr. Ladyfractic, Ladyfractic, Puppyfractic, and any other fractic I could be missing. Oh, and PCBWaaaaay.

    The keys are from a CDTV keyboard not a CD32 keyboard! If ANYONE murdered an extremely rare officially licensed contracted out CD32 keyboard then they would deserve jail time IMHO! 😂

    Nice video, looks like WebTV stuff was done on Amigas? Might want to mosaic the NSFW models' faces to protect their anonymity about work they did decades ago that they might not be so proud of today.

    Before you do anything: you should make a direct copy of the harddisk!
    Had a Amiga where the HDD just ran 15 min and than it broke...

    A good title for the video would be “Nothing Ever Changes”. There was porn on the C64, porn on the Amiga, porn on IBMs...there was probably porn on the Colecovision, I really wouldn’t doubt. ENIAC porn? I wouldn’t put it past those 1940s computer nerds. Anyway, I really love it when old hardware like that fires up and works after decades of storage. It’s like bringing an old friend back to life.

    Hold up, those keys came from CD32? That's a console, and at least mine doesn't have keys. I suppose there were keyboards for it, or CDTV?
