I enjoy how knowledgeable and detailed your reviews are. You have a nice take on flavour profiles and I’m starting to use your opinions to help me decide between whisky purchases. Keep it up! Any suggestions on springbank 10 alternatives would be appreciated. Salute!
Thank you very much. That really means a lot. Alternatives to Springbank 10... if you haven't tried it already then without a doubt you need to get some Kilkerran. Similar but different to Springbank. Made by the same team of people to the same high standards. I actually prefer it to SB10. Other than that, you might enjoy the high quality malt driven offerings from Deanston or Glencadam. Although they don't have that funky peatiness that you get from Springbank. Cheers!
This is an excellent very well articulated review! honestly you are right up there in whiskeytube at the moment you should be getting alot more views in no time, keep up the great work! - btw have you done Ledaig 10? seems to be well liked at the moment...
Thanks Sid! Very kind. I haven't reviewed Ledaig 10 yet but I have bought a lot of bottles of it over the years because it's really good stuff. It's the best value malt from Tobermory and one of the best value peated malts around today.
Excellent review. Your channel along with GWhisky are very watchable and engaging amongst current whisky tubers. Think you will hit 1k subscribers with more content( if your budget permits) As for Ardbeg, I'm currently in Italy and they have some great prices on the Ardbeg core range, I was going to snap up the Corryvreckan for £44 but was too slow and it sold out. Picked the Wee Beastie as a second choice at £32 so hoping it matches your review. Cheers, Ramiz
Hi Ramiz! Thank you for the kind words! Things are certainly picking up and I feel that the channel has come a long way. Like almost all WhiskyTubers, my budget has always been a limiting factor in the whiskies that I can review to some extent. I don't like to base reviews off of samples in case I don't manage to form a full opinion but there are a few reviews coming up of some VERY expensive whisky that will have to be from samples. It's a shame but it's my only option and I think it'll still be worth doing. Hopefully you guys will agree. I also never review whisky that is given to me in exchange for the review. It's a tempting proposition as it would allow me to review more things. Sometimes before the whisky is available to the general public. Sometimes whisky that is simply out of my price range. But I'm not sure if I'd be ok with effectively being paid for my opinion. I also feel like it'd be a short lived thing anyway because I'm sure the samples wouldn't keep coming for long after a few honest reviews :-) The real limiting factor though is often time. Again, like most WhiskyTubers, I have a full time job and other commitments. The number of open and only half drunk bottles laying around my house that I am willing to tolerate is also a limiting factor :-) I will continue to do what I can though because, like you, whisky is my passion. Corryvreckan for £44 is a good price but I think you'll enjoy how different the Wee Beastie is. Slainte and thanks for sticking with me!
