    Madelaine is definitely a skincare enthusiast and I truly love working with her. She is so fun and down to earth! Her skin is fair and sensitive but we've been able to create a perfect routine that has given her amazing results without any irritation. Susan, yes, I will for sure hit her up and tell her to use more sunscreen...so important!

      Isn’t it not even the amount of sunscreen but the fact she used it before moisturizer which absolutely minimizes the affects of the sunscreen...

      @@elenagriffin6489 the amount was an issue. She said she was using just a pea size amount, that's definitely too little sunscreen to get adequate protection.

      Hey Susan! I have really like super oily skin prone to acne but I hate zinc oxide sunscreens because when I reapply them on my face it gets a complete mess, it peels off and it's like really awfull, do you think that maybe a powder sunscreen would be better?

      Hi Susan and Renee! I find BHAs to be a bit drying on my skin. I’ve used toners or serums that contain salicylic acid or betaine salicylate and still experienced that tightness on my skin. I’d like to continue to incorporate a BHA to keep acne and blackheads at bay. Anything you can suggest to combat the tightness/dryness or perhaps any alternatives to BHA you can recommend? Thanks!

      @@christinar.9116 idk, this routine is actually pretty good. I agree that some people just have genetically good skin and a lot of people sadly use that for marketing even though the products they are promoting are shieeet. But claiming that everyone with gold skin just has it genetically is something I'm starting to see more and more without anything to base it on. It could just be that her skincare routine works for her. Gosh. She even mentioned struggling with breakouts so it's definitely not a "having perfect skin despite whatever happens to it" situation.

    I would love for you to do a video where you lay out a basic skin care routine for each common skin type and give a few product options for each step. (I.e. a routine for oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin etc...) something to give a good baseline for people starting up or even for people who want to reevaluate their routine. Maybe bring up some products not recommended for certain skin types or problems they might notice and why those things could be happening. I’ve searched high and low for a video like that and haven’t found it. I would love for you to lay out a solid starting routine for combo skin with actual product suggestions for each step. It would be soooo helpful for those of us who are newbies in the skin care game. I hope that made sense.

Sooo many products that help my skin, definitely more of a luxury price point for most products (not on the high end price point like Tatcha/La Mer for example) but it’s so worth it. I use the same toner, cotton pads, and spf in the morning and they are amazing. I like to swipe toner and SPF after wearing a cloth face mask all day to get rid of the gunk and moisturize/protect against uv rays. My skin is looking the best it has ever had since I started using this line over 3 years ago now. I highly recommend giving her products a try.

    I have a question! You were saying she may not always want to wash her face while travelling because she doesn't know what the water is like, if it's hard water; where I live our tap water is hard water and there is no way to get a different water supplier, and I can't afford filters or buying water for stuff like this... so what's the option for those of us stuck with hard water? Is there a way to work around it or counter it?

    • @shouko4218

      One reason could be that you don’t wash away the products well enough. You push all the dirt during your routine outwards but if you don’t go in with a cloth afterwards and actually wipe around your face, you’ll get some bumps. At least that’s why I have little bumps but I never had acne, so could be something else.

Also, everyone check Renee’s website it’s such an informative one :) Thank you!

    Some things to me should just be common sense, you don't have to be a skincare expert to know sunscreen comes last.

    • @aniadziedzic6177
      @aniadziedzic6177 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Actually, it depends. If it's mineral sunscreen it goes on last, but if it's chemical it goes on first. I'm very surprised and disappointed Susan is spreading misinformation and correcting something that shouldn't be corrected. Even more so, it should be addressed - as most of the people apply sunscreen as the last step without thinking twice.

    • @winniethepooh99
      @winniethepooh99 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Ania Dziedzic
      Not sure why your bringing Susan into this considering no where in my comment is her name mentioned. This is information I’ve gather from MULTIPLE sources that sunscreen comes last. The sunscreen she’s using is in fact a mineral sunscreen and should be the last step in her routine. It’s just so surprising to see celebrities like Madelaine use these luxurious products and go see the best esthetician (probably regularly) and still get their routines wrong. I’m pretty sure Renee has told her the correct way to put on sunscreen. Putting your moisturizer before your sunscreen minimizes the affects of sunscreen.

    • @aniadziedzic6177
      @aniadziedzic6177 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Leigh B. I was reffering to your very definite statement being „sunscreen comes last, it’s common sense”. Except, that it’s not true. It depends on the type of the product used. Apparently, knowledge/science is not common sense. And why do I bring Susan „into this”? Aren’t you commenting on her video?

    • @winniethepooh99
      @winniethepooh99 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Ania Dziedzic
      The average person uses a mineral sunscreen, which as you stated comes last. Every facial and skincare video I’ve watched always used sunscreen last. And if you watch any “my facial with Renee Rouleau “ Renee herself uses sunscreen (the exact same one Madelaine is using) last. I get your point that chemical and mineral sunscreens require different applications, however most brands are marketing mineral sunscreens. And yes I’m commenting on Susan’s video but to say she’s giving false information based on a statement I SAID is unfair.

    • @aniadziedzic6177
      @aniadziedzic6177 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leigh B. It’s the other way around, actually. Most of the products on the market, are chemical sunscreens. All them Vichy, LaRochePosey, all the „Korean” beauty. You said „it’s common sense to use sunscreen last” which yes, is untrue. Not everyone knows (they don’t tell you this unless you dig deeper) that different types of products require different approach. So no, it’s not common sense, it’s knowledge (that most people lack).

    Sunscreen and moisturiser order actually varies depending on the kind.
    Many sunscreen needs to be applied directly on your screen and an occlusive moisturiser before sunscreen will not allow the sunscreen to react with your skin the way it should.

A lot of people have a “purge” or a lot of redness or irritation if they don’t start off slowly like that.. I didn’t experience that going slow. I’ve already had amaaaazing results! I have acne prone skin, so my dermatologist has me on Azelaic acid which helps to prevent the breakouts and calm redness. The pair are a miracle duo :) hope this helps! 🤍

      I would recommend skipping "over the counter" retinols, aka any retinol/bakuchiol that is sold in a store. The reason why is that the retinol compounds used are not pure form of Vitamin A, and your skin has to do an extra step in transforming those compounds into retinoic acid for them to be effective. In addition, these products sold in stores are not forced to comply with the same quality and testing standards as prescriptions, therefore it is difficult to conclude on how effective they are. The best "retinol" would be the one you get a prescription for, mainly adapalene or tretinoin. Differin is over the counter in the US but not in Canada (where I live) and both it at Retin-A can be very very expensive. There is a generic brand, the one that I use, "Stieva-A" which is a tretinoin based retinoic acid. I think it works amazingly well! I follow Dr. Dray's (here on youtube) recommendations for use, I wash my face with a cream to foam cleanser, apply hyaluronic acid and niacinamide on damp skin, and follow up with a cerave cream on damp skin. Once that has dried down I apply a small amount of the retinol on my entire face, avoiding my eye and nostril area! It works amazingly well at smoothing skin texture, fine lines, reducing the look of pore sizes, and acne breakouts. I have combination oily skin and minimizing my routine really helped. It was really easy to get the prescription I literally just asked my family doctor. Remember sunscreen!! Sunscreen and a healthy lifestyle are truly the most important factor for anti-aging.
