There are some serious legends out in those waters!!! Off shore winds and double overhead conditions produced legendary conditions. If those are all locals then Alabama has some serious legends living there.
That opening clip of the 360 air to the dedging barrel might be the best GC clip ive ever seen. Looked like the winds were still pretty stiff over in Bama. Awesome day of pumping bama barrels! Wonder how it was back in FWB. Mustve been absolutely HUGE!
@@JonnyDee-uh1eo yeah that was a pretty sick clip. My buddy Mike that lives in Alabama sent me all those clips. That’s a sick sandbar they have over there. Still working on the FWB video. Hopefully have it done in another day or 2.
@Surferjoefwb That was cool of him. That sandbar was heaving. Eventually you'll get it back going. Great to have help. Especially all the drone footage.
That's the cove in Orange Beach!!! So awesome being there. I shoulda let the kids skip school. That's one for the memory book!!! And shout out to the City of Orange Beach for letting surfers do what we do!!! Gulf Shores authorities wouldn't let anyone in the water at double red flag (including surfers).
@Surferjoefwb Hurricane Wilma was the best swell I've ever surfed in fla other than the outside at the Jupiter Inlet on a nor easter. Lido point in Sarasota during Hurricane Wilma was the longest waves I've ever seen. Its my benchmark for swells. That storm had the lowest pressure of any storm and was massive as it came up the channel. Luckily this storm was moved a little slower at first than predicted which put us in that full on southwest wrap flinging swell in our direction. I surfed the first little bend in Redington beach and then migrated down behind the condos on sand key once the winds were 40 plus. Incredible skeleton bay like lefts ripping down the beach with Nobody around. Stayed until almost dark then walked 3 miles down and over the causeway to my car getting stopped by the police. Lol I knew they were going to shut it down so I made the walk. Nothing can stop a determined west fla surfer who's looking to max out on what's possible here. 🤙
@@JonnyDee-uh1eo haha that’s awesome! I’d like to check that Skeleton Bay action sometime. But yeah when Wilma came in we had epic over head surf with offshores for 3 days straight. Best I’ve ever seen in Florida.
@Surferjoefwb Joe, I literally put my skeleton bay spot all over social media for years and nobody ever shows up. I do not understand why.... Would love to have you down in the winter to catch some. The drive is just frickin long.... Days of swell during Wilma? I bet! We had two. I will never forget that swell. It was relatively slow moving and just pumped. Its cool knowing that it was the best swell for you too. Seems like a long time ago now. Almost 20! Dang are we getting that old ALREADY!? 🤣
Wish I'd been there. Good bodysurfing town though when it's big and windy. Seems there's more shark sightings now. Never had that situation when I was there 1986 thru 2000.
@@markdinkel-uh2je you that right! When the sandbars on Okaloosa island are head high and barreling the stoke level will rival any line in the world! 😎🤙🏼
So those were all local guys out? I thought it was some pros who traveled over from the east coast to catch the swell. Didn't know Alabama had rippers.
I’ve always wondered how Slater got so good growing up with such inconsistent swell. I would think someone has to be out there every day damn near to get that good. But I guess you need a specific type of talent to get that great also tho.
