  • The idea of mastering your emotions is not a new one, and here I'll give you my take on some of the therapeutic approaches we've become accustomed to when it comes to helping our clients control their emotions.
I'll share a response a psychologist friend gave to the thought that it is better to 'feel the full force of your feelings and express those feelings' in therapy, as well as 3 tips you can use to plant the seed of self-mastery in your client's mind and watch them grow.

Can't get enough of your stuff. I'm a new therapist, and your videos are the best I've found over the past few years of schooling. I'm gonna be going through your stuff for a good, long while. Thanks!

Very excellent article and thank you for the link to "Am I Bipolar?" in your written article. I have 14 year old client who was diagnosed as bipolar 4 years ago with no progress per the parents. I showed her her good side and why she shouldn't wear the label. Her parents called and told me this was the best they have seen her. This is a great start.

I agree that learning to control one’s emotions, especially as I am a victim of torture and abuse as a child, would help to make one feel safe. Not being able to control this aspect of personhood, makes me feel like a victim of my past… As though my abuser has left an incurable wound. I hope that even at the age of 66, I can learn some techniques that will allow ME to choose what emotion is helpful in any given situation. Thank you.

I've found many of your videos useful in my therapy work, often watching them in breaks between sessions or when I get a 'no-show'.
However, recently they've been getting longer, repeating the basic premise several times before getting to the solution. In this video it took 13 minutes. You seem to be being drawn tweeds the American sales model.
I think you're more interesting when you've told us the reason fir eat you're going to say, say it, then summarise it. All in 15 minutes or less. And less with the hand-waving and the slow voice; I want your insight and the experience - not to by hypnotised.
Of course, I find your material valuable - as have my clients - otherwise I wouldn't write. I'm very grateful. Thank you. Jonathan

Yes, the videos seem to be getting longer and more rambling.
However, he puts Time Stamps in the Description, enabling people to skip the introduction.

It’s free content, Jonathan. Do you work for free? I doubt it. If you want different material you can purchase it from their website.
