Yeah, I wish I had experienced The New Beverly more when Tarantino was just the owner of the building and occasionally did programming. I did for a little while before he took over the programming and It was much more of a laid back atmosphere and the programming was way more eclectic than what it is now. I have a feeling, you would’ve been more into it at that time. The new crowd that goes there now seem to be a lot of status seekers pretending to be film buffs. It sucks because other than the cringey grindhouse programming, I still do like what they program from time to time but the new staff and the audience at times reek of such self-importance which seems to contradict what they’re promoting as this down home atmosphere for film lovers that it makes me not want to support them. And for the life of me, I don’t understand why the staff doesn’t make an announcement from time to time for patrons to not choose seats that would block people’s views especially for sold out screenings, it happened all the time when I went there. Or better yet, why not just raise the screen so that everyone can see? Anyways, seeing this makes me glad I haven’t stepped foot in there in quite some time. Sorry, just had to vent.

And equal to that, what types of movies did they show? Indie films and foreign films only ? I do agree that the screen should be slightly higher and that staff should make taller people sit in the back

I'm a regular in that theater too, and yes more often than not I'm the only non-white, non-broughy dude in there.
