I have the cl200 that is connected to my piping not like yours and I learned to put 2 tabs in a week at it's set to 6 instead of keeping it full with tabs. 27' round. This saved a lot of tabs and my levels are good

I have experience getting the fumes in face also ... I always turn my face away now and hold my breath but would recommend a googles also. I find it helps keep my pool levels better but it's more expensive . You go through those pucks like water. No pun 😅
Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Anyone who owns a pool knows, that you have to be very careful when handling chlorine tablets or granules... The same danger occurs when you first open the container, holding the tablets, especially if it has been sitting in the sun. As soon as you take off the lid, a plume of chlorine gas will quickly travel upwards into your face. 😵
When I first remove the chlorine container lid, I always use the lid to fan the top of the bucket, before removing anything from it.

Here's another step you might find handy to reduce the gas blow-back when you open the cap: depressurize your pump system, by either opening the pressure relief valve I have on the top of my cartridge filter, or opening the leaf catcher. And don't put your head over the top. I disagree that this doesn't save money. I've found that it eliminates my need for liquid chlorine (unless it runs out), and uses only about half as many tablets per month as the floating chlorinator (because it injects the chlorine below the water line). What I really hate is I can't see inside, and after loading around 14 tablets for the next 2+ months, I can't tell that they've run out until I see the pool turn green. I could calendar every 2 months for a refill, but that'd be way too easy.

Seems safer than the floater if you have kids because they can't reach the tablets, how often do you recharge the chlorinator and with how may Chlorine tablets? Also how many Galons or Liters does you pool have?

Did you install a check valve on the return side to prevent the chlorine from damaging your eq? The instructions call for it, but I’m wondering if it’s really necessary.

Use a respirator that rated for chlorine gas. Blow and go doesn’t protect you from chlorine fumes. There’s no one-way, backflow valve (to prevent highly chlorinated water from backing up into your filter when pump is off). That filter will need to be replaced sooner rather than later!

I guess you have to get used to handling the chlorinator because it really isn’t that bad opening and closing. The chlorine tablet buckets now you really have to be careful opening those because you will get hit in the face with that invisible gas.

After removing the lid, I heard gurgling. I suppose this means it is working. If there is no sound, how does one verify it is working?

If you don't hear any 'gurgling' sounds, it probably means your plastic tubing line is clogged...

I have the same one and it happened to me too. Now I open it and keep away from it for like 30 seconds then is fine.

I have the same chlorinater, and every time I open it water fills up to the top overflowing and forcing the gas out into my face. Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong? I turn off the pump, put the filter in closed, and turn the valve to closed, chlorinator still fills ip o and pours out water.

Another problem is chlorine tablets raise the cyanuric acid and you have to drain pool water and add fresh water to lower it.

Have seen way too many systems wrecked by that particular chlorinator.
