Great interview. I have friends who moved from the Detroit area to Asheville, North Carolina a few years ago and they live near a bar where Artimus's band played (maybe still plays) sometimes. I wanted to hear Artimus describe the events surrounding the plane crash. I'm going to Nashville, soon, and really looking forward to touring the MHOF. Thanks for keeping memories alive.
Watch his tale on it in his movie. It is supposed to be his perspective but there are things that are flat out lies. I have seen him contradict himself in interviews. Not Lil details but very important things. He described how he went to get help after crash which he did but it was documented there were 3 men who walled out of the swamp. Artimus, Ken Peden & Mark Frank. One interviewer even said something to effect of 2 crew guys were also with you & he replies they weren't there. He relates whole story abt how as plane is going down , Ronnie sought him our & did the bro shake & saiove you brother. Very touching except it is documented Ronnie was up front passed out from 2 sleeping pills gave him, he was kind laying under a table that Gary, Allen, Steve, Cassie ; Dean were sitting so he wasn't blocking the aisle. Gene Odom had to pull him up & shove into his seat, he was out of it, 1/2 asleep & thought Gene was messing with him. Common knowledge so he couldn't have went to back of any where Artimus was at all. I have watched abt every interview he has done , he seems sincere but I can't believe award he says
@@kathyrais574 I've noticed that too, especially the part about Ronnie awake and walking through the plane. There have been many more contradictions I have noticed.

You spoke as if you knew. Why would you comment when you knew you really didn't know? Everyone but you knows Ronnie said all about, "if it's your time to die it's your time." And then RONNIE proceeded to tell those that bought their commercial tickets already," if you use those tickets your out of the Band." You also must not know, Artimus argued with Ronnie about the plane. He was a marine pilot. He KNEW. You must be the last one to know. "THE WISE MAN KNOWS WHAT HE DOESN'T KNOW."
Remember Ricky medlocke was a oringinal drummer who went out to be a front man and came back to be a great guitarist and singer for Blackfoot and Skynyrd

It's crazy how he survived the crash only to get shot by a farmer who thought he was an escaped criminal when he was just trying to get help for the others still stuck in the plane crash.
I've had a burning question in my head for the last 45+ years. I'm hoping someone out there can help me with. It's a little long, it's about something I saw at Skynyrds second to last show, Oct 18th 1977 at the Lakeland Civic Center, Lakeland, Fl. I think there was bad blood between Gary Rossington and Artimus Pyle, even before the crash. In the middle of a song that night, Artimus kicked his drum kit over and he and Gary got in a shouting match. The band kept playing, all the while the roadies were putting the drum kit back together and they all finished the song and the rest of the set. All of these years I have wondered what went on that night. I tried my best to get in touch Artimus, but never heard back from him. I guess I will never know what it was about or why, at least not in this lifetime. I have also posted this story on several different posts and interviews without reply, and I've seen quite a few. Maybe it's not a big deal, I've heard they could be quite explosive while writing or practicing, just not on stage. Any insight into what went on that night would be much appreciated. I know it's a long shot. Thanks.
Artimus is and was a health nut. At the time, Gary was doing quaaludes and other pills. He and Artimus butted heads for years, and still do. Artimus thinks Gary is a control freak and he thinks Judy is a money grubber. Truthfully, I don't think he's that far off. He keeps the peace though.
He was all broken up but stopped to call his wife and then went back to the wreck… word is, that RVZ refused to let some people take a commercial flight.
Great interview. However, watching a Gene Odom interview, there's just as much confusion to the facts because the stories don't match and Gene says Artimus is talking BS.
And the woman Artimus cited is in the video as well as the rescuers with Gene Odom. Theyre genuine, they have no reason ot lie. Artimus Pyle is a liar.

Joe man you got the best channel on TH-cam man I can’t wait to come check out the museum keep putting the videos out I give u a thumbs up every time
Thanks for watching Dennis. I truly appreciate your very kind comments. Best, Joe
My parents were good friends with Artimus back in the day, still are friends actually just don’t see each other much. He was at my house on Halloween one year when I was a kid and signed a freebird poster for me that I hope I still have somewhere
Thank you Mr Pyle !!
Always spoke so highly of Ronnie. I like that. Also giving kudos to Bob Burns.
Great interview
Beautifully insightful
I wanted to hear Artimus describe the events surrounding the plane crash.
I'm going to Nashville, soon, and really looking forward to touring the MHOF.
Thanks for keeping memories alive.
Thanks for watching Larry…Joe
@@kathyrais574 Have you ever been in a crashing plane? I imagine the fear and trauma can affect one's memory. As Her Majesty said, "recollections may vary."
I believe Arti believes it happend the way he recalls it...but, Gene Odom recalls it differently than portrayed in the "Street Survivors" movie!
Got too respect artimus jus fa how many funerals hes went too and payed his respects for all us !
Skynyrd Rocks,
He was always honest even when all the hurt was going on especially him and gary
I hope to visit that memorial one day
I believe Gene odem when he says that ronnie was trying sleep in front of the couch that he help ronniie to the couch
I don’t know how anyone has problems with him. He seems like the nicest guy.
My favorite hippy vegetarian tree huggin kick ass drummer ever! And can I say how darn good looking he was and is..well spoken as well! Rock on Artimus Pyle🤘🏼
What a great guy, you deserve it
It would have been nice to see artimus with ringo’s all stars
Outstanding
Respect!
Hes the one who got the band and others to fly on that plane that day even after one of the engines shot flames out of it the day before.
Ronnie is the one, I've known them since they were playing nightclubs, and a close friend was their road manager. 🎶
You spoke as if you knew.
Why would you comment when you knew you really didn't know?
Everyone but you knows Ronnie said all about, "if it's your time to die it's your time."
And then RONNIE proceeded to tell those that bought their commercial tickets already," if you use those tickets your out of the Band."
You also must not know, Artimus argued with Ronnie about the plane.
" Artimus : Named my daughter ' Tashauna ' , my ex loved it when I suggested . Took a good while to find her middle name .. one day was reading Playboy , Rolling Stone , something and hollered for my wife , " Come here ! Look at this ! " Pointing at the author of the articles name
She was like huh 🤔 George Starray . I covered the George, and said , " Look ! Starray ... ! " " Tashauna Starray " ! And the rest is history 👸 A.P. : I'm down in Palm Beach County .. I hope to get up to JAX. and meet you when I can 😘 RESPECT BROTHER
Can you imagine if Steve Gains had lived. The day the music died for real All of 'em
Steve had an extremely underrated vocal talent! That Okie could sing!
One great man!
Watching this for the first time after hearing about Gary Rossington's death. Artimus is now probably the last original member alive. Was lucky enough to see his band in concert 2012. Great interview by the way.
Roman Bobak, my dad, Joe, passed September 28th- but I know he would have appreciated your kind comment.
Thank you for supporting the channel, hope you can visit the museum sometime.
Best,
Britt

Hey Joe have any of the performers who have performed with the BG’s been inducted into the MHF ??? If so can you point me towards a video with some interesting stories about them.
Thanks Bud.
BG’s ? Who do you mean Lou… Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum
Lol. Like The Gib brothers Barry , Andy , Robin ,and Maurice , and , or any of the many musicians that played with them over the years. Such as Steve Luthiker ..
I know they’re not known as big rockers , but they had a very long and distinguished career that varied widely through the years. And worked with many of the great innovators of the time.
I much appreciate your responses . As always your one in a million Joe ...
PS sorry I’m off topic , this was an amazing video with Artemus . Absolutely inspirational ....
Lou…. Sorry… wasn’t sure you meant the Bee Gee’s… I love the Bee Gee’s… start to finish. To Love Somebody to Staying Alive. No none of those players have been inducted. Wasn’t aware my good friend Luke recorded with them. I will try to check them out closer in the future. Thanks for watching…Joe

I saw the movie it was great
Luv this g uy
She asks artimus silly questions, I will say this; artimus was a soldier and he was in the plane! Semper Fi fo sho!
" . . . If it's meant ta be "
I wished that you could see my drum's in BLINDING EXILE
Yes an incredible drummer and an incredible liar, look it up and let me know please
