Unpopular opinion here, but i loved valhalla. Ill never understand why people complain about over bloated side quests and collectables when those things are optional! I can only see it being a thorn in the side to trophy/achievement hunters and they are the minority. It’s ridiculous, i want my monies worth and content worth. I also want that to meet a certain standard of quality, but im not gunna cry over optional quantity
I loved this game! I'm an old-school Assassin's Creed fan. My philosophy is that less is more. For me; this game was nostalgic. It's not perfect, but it is a better game since Black Flag. This is my opinion.
I like both the RPGs and the old school AC games for what they are. I just got this game last week and have really enjoyed it so far. It does have a nostalgia aspect to it but having completely gotten everything in the map before starting the game I do wish for a bit more.
I get why people like the RPG style AC, but I grew up playing AC 1 when it came out on Xbox 360. I think Mirage is a good nod to the original style and soundtrack is really on point.
Playing this game on permeate mode change my whole perspective. I do really like this game because of that mode and playing on master assassin difficulty
I am very grateful the team made the other 3 games large and open. They scratch my Skyrim itch, and no other game has come close. You can do missions in any order and save easily, unlike Red Dead and GTA, which force you to complete missions once you start. I have only found the freedom of Skyrim in Valhalla, Origins, and Oddessy.
People still play odyssey to this day to complete rest of quests. They tried hard to make odyssey replayable after exploring. They put most time towards this games development.
Red Dead 2 is filed with rich content, interesting details, amazing stories, every location looks polished and well made. How does Odyssey or Origins even compare? filler areas, filler quests, boring bulletsponge combat.
I just picked this game up yesterday randomly, haven’t played an AC game since origins and im having a lot of fun with it reminds me of what i loved about the older games
I randomly got suggested this video too, and I agree with most of these comments. Really good video, quality stands out for how small your channel is. Keep it up.
@tyr573 by pointing out someone acting like them randomly coming here to praise and comment means something? Lol okay white knight.. also, it's called "projecting" not self projection. Fyi I liked the video
I agree with most of your observations. Mirage is an enjoyable game, but once I finished it, I never felt the urge to go back. I kept randomly going back to Origins and Odyssey. Bayek and Alexios (or Kassandra) are some of my favorite characters. I'd love to see an AC game with robust character customization, where we get to build our characters.
I think the market has changed and Assasin's creed became a different franchise post origins. Odyssey was probably one of best games despite flawed leveling/combat system. I think they should go back to putting more detail on their side missions like they did in unity and make areas similar size to mirage. Leave players satisfied after beating game. Even a city open world can be big enough. That a great step they put a limit on contract mission so they won't put out mindless quest lines.
It’s weird. I played a little of my brothers copy of AC3. Didn’t even get to unlock connor. Never have. Then i owned a ps4 and my first official game was Unity. Loved it and finished it. Then i skipped Syndicate and went straight to Origins and FELL IN LOVE WITH AC. I have over 200 hours in Origins and over 200 hours in Odyssey and now i am about 8 hours into Valhalla and loving it. Moral of the story. Like what YOU want to like and stop listening to the internet.
Origins was the peak for me but I enjoyed Odyssey because I like ancient Greece. Mirage was so boring and the movement was trash but now I'm trying it again and I guess they patched it up a bit bc the movement feels way better (it's no Unity but it's better than it was). The story is still kinda meh but I feel like the end of Odyssey screwed up the canon, which is saying something because the end of III was a major disappointment.
This game was fun, I put it on hardest difficulty, didn’t use X-ray vision, rarely used the bird and stealth killed every enemy almost, I hope they make another one like this but go even more realistic and intricate, they honestly need to take these games to the next level, grittier more realistic etc could be incredible but they go for the mass appeal formula
One thing about enemies not detecting your assasinations, the original outfit has a perk that diminishes your assasination sounds by 50/75/100%, maybe that is why you felt that they wouldn't react to your assasinations.
I think the stealth was amazing, problem is most people just either aren't good at stealth games or don't properly know how to utilize all the mechanics. Planning ahead and taking groups of enemies silently never felt so satisfying, i'd say it might have the best stealth in the series, yes Unity also had good stealth, but personally unity's stealth felt clunky and inconsistent, in Mirage it feels smooth and consistent. And while parkour isn't as good as Unity i still think it's a close 2nd, running from enemies trough alleys and vanishing is one of my favorite parts of Mirage and i think it was designed that way. I think the game is a solid 7.5/10, it's just that people are looking at it from the wrong lens. Some wanted it to be Unity 2.0 and some wanted it to be Valhalla 2.0 when in reality it's trying to be something else. I wish Ubisoft took this as a good thing and decided to slowly go back to it's roots, but my hopes aren't up for Shadows.
❤ great video brother! Keep it up!! I love that you seem to cover whatever you’re into and not just making videos on the same mess everyone else is covering.
I liked Mirage, its not the best or groundbreaking but what's there works. Combat is not the main focus similar to the firsts of the franchise, where the focus was to stay hidden. My main complaint with it is its enemy AI, sometimes it works others it feels like rocks. But the soundtrack is so sublime, the stealth is top, the story is ok as well as the characters. Definitely not for those who liked Combat Creed and the best way for me to get out of the franchise
Great job on the video! I liked how you presented everything in sections and cross-referanced from the more recent previous ones. I just found your channel since I'll finally be starting Mirage soon. Do you plan to pick up Shadows?
Thank you! I’m hoping to get better & better with each review. I do plan on getting Shadows, I’m a sucker for AC games. My biggest hope is that they find a middle ground between Valhalla & Mirage.

I enjoyed stealth games like Sniper Elite games (some would not regard them as stealth games but that's another story). But also Origins and Odyssey. I figure this game would be a fresh feel. Speaking of which, you should review Sniper Elite 4 or 5, great games.
I couldn't even beat odyssey or Valhalla bought both super cheap felt overwhelmed but i definitely had fun with origins and a bit off and on its dlc this year, rise of kong was beast.
I don't know how long it took you to edit the video and audio. For me it is tough af. Respect for your work. I am trying to get into editing and it is super tough and confusing.
Best put: it’s okay. If you’re a veteran of this franchise, you’ll definitely appreciate it and enjoy it more. If you started with Odyssey or Valhalla, you may find the lean on stealthy mechanics not to your liking. Is it a great game? No. Will it save the franchise? No. But I enjoyed it, had a good time, and very much appreciated the return to the OG Assassin Creed formula. Basim was a solid character and the story was indeed given more focus when compared to the RPG predecessors. Not really a game to replay in the future, but I’m glad I got it and gave it shot. I needed a return to this kind of Assassin’s Creed.
