This is correct. The reason she says to Penny " for the 1st time in a very long time, I don't know what will happen next" is because Faraday's journal only took her to that date. It's reasonable to assume that Faraday's journal recounted stories from the oceanic 6 for events that happened between 2004-2007, but with many holes. At some point the journal runs out of time (so to speak). This is why LOST on rewatch is so amazing, when Eloise tells Desmond about his destiny and pushing the button, she isn't guiding him there, or putting him on his path....she literally knows it's going to happen, and she also knows that her son will forever be Desmond's constant....even Widmore sending Penny to pick up the cases of wine was most likely known to set their love in motion. After all there is a picture of Eloise and the Monk who fires Desmond on his desk.
The Incident is one of my favourite episodes-I'm always surprised that it doesn't appear higher on more episode ranking lists. It's one of a few episodes I'll occasionally just toss on and watch the same way I'd watch a movie.
Kate is so right in this episode. Killing a child or detonating an atomic bomb have become "normal" for our survivors. It's sad and terrible at the same time. And, she's also right about the fact that not everything that happened since the crash was all bad. In life, it would piss me off to have to forget the good times at the same time as the bad.
Its so trippy to think that that compass has been passed around between John and Richard in an endless loop over and over and over again with no real origin. Whats also trippy is that when the Oceanic survivora and the three freighter folks were flashing through time they briefly flashed three years into the future in 2007 and we didn't relaize that until this very episode. 😱
Back in early seasons we wondered how the Others were able to sneak around so easily and undetected. And now we know. Underwater tunnels and underground tunnels. That's one mystery solved.
This episode never felt so sad and tragic as seeing it through Elie's reaction today when he is still naive and happy laughing, not understanding what is going on yet. 😢
Ellie has Daniels Journal now. Thats why she is what you described as "The Time Lord Woman" It explains why she knows so much of the future later on. We're led to believe that Old Eloise fullfilled her purpose and has done all she has to do in 2007 to get the survivors back on the island and sending her son to the Island thus fulfilling the time loop. Whatever happens afterwards (After Desmond got shot) is up to destiny and the will of the Island to decide. Thats why she said that crypic message to Jack that can be unpredictable and to Ben "God help us all."
I can't add much to what the other commenters said, but agree yes, Daniel's journal is how she's so knowledgeable in the the future, when she meets Desmond and later Jack. And because Daniel stops taking notes apparently at this point, this is why last episode in the present Eloise said she no longer knows what's going to happen. Because she got them back to the past, and once they get back to the past, Daniel dies. The end. Present-day Eloise is now time blind. Locke wanting to kill Jacob ...welcome to the endgame.
Eloise: ‘when I was 17, I took a man to the bomb and he told me to bury it’ Elie: ‘So would she remember taking Daniel to the bomb when she was 17? 😂😂😂
Just a little clarification about The Purge gassing of Dharma. Ben was ordered by Widmore The Other's leader at the time to take part in that. Ben seemed a little offended in a previous episode that someone had insinuated that he caused it. It's been speculated that maybe it was one of the reasons why Ben eventually took over as leader.
Damn, I never realised this before but Daniel and Charlotte render the gas inert on Widmore's orders, having been told that Ben has used the gas before. I only just now realise that was a lie. Honestly every rewatch I forget what is done by Charles and what is done by Ben because they lie about each other constantly.
6:17 Richard hadn't interacted much with the oceanic survivors outside from Locke before they started timetraveling. From the people on the picture(Jack, Kate and Hurley) he only meet Kate in the season 4 finale when he makes a deal with her and Sayid to rescue Ben from Keamy. He was at dharmaville in season 3 when Jack was with the others but we don't see them interact.
Thanks for the reaction, Elie. This is probably my favorite episode of this season. Episode 12 and 15 are definitely my favorite episodes of this season
There are details here that I can't talk about because it would be a spoiler, which is why I like this season better in retrospect. The previous seasons are not as necessary, they are less confusing
Eloise is an oracle because she lived thru much of what happened on the island in the past (including what Jack is attempting)... and then she had Daniel's journal full of pivotal info, like about Desmond, the Freighter, the time-travel, etc...
Lovely for miles to realise that his dad did care about him n his mum all along n only sent them away to save them “The island can take me” hahahaha So excited for u watchin the end of this season
Yes, Juliette got better looking but I think a lot of that attractiveness stems from her personality and her chemistry with Josh. Blondie is the absolute best.
Also in the other parts of the Frenchman Jules Verne's 'trilogy' predating this by 100 years: Search for the Castaways, 20 00 Leagues Under the Sea and Mysterious Island with the submarine, volcano, fighting with animals and people, trying to get rescued. Good films, great books. Jules Verne, they said, lived in the future, too, describing modern subs and space travel back in the 1800s.
Yes Richard would have remembered them in previous seasons however they writers got luckly because we never saw Richard interact with any of them. Although he did have Sawyer's entire life in a file to hand to Locke bask in Season 3. So he might have been collecting info on them since before they crashed. Like others have said, the time tavel holds up real well when you rewatch the show
Yes, if John looked up he would have seen himself with Ben. Everything that's happened has always happened like this. And no the Island wasn't moving through time. If it did than Richard, Ben, and Lockd would have been in the ocean with no land under them.
Call back. Jack's been a wrong a number of times? Ha, what character on this show hasn't been wrong? To date there isn't a character who hasn't been wrong unless one knows the future. LOST continues with more shockers to come.
Ben's face at the end of this episode is the face of a viewer who watches LOST and doesn't understand a damn thing that's going on))) It's also probably the first time Ben has been so surprised.
"Room 23" - Season 3 - "God loved you as He loved Jacob" - I think it was the first reference to Jacob. I love this unknown mover idea. The idea of a leader on the island that people serve. The Others follow Jacob. I think there were references from Ben / Charles / Eloise about Jacob. Then there is Richard. Richard also follows Jacob. The three + Richard all reference "what the island wants" and "the rules". It broke my heart when we find out in this episode Ben, arguably the truest of the true believers in Jacob, had never met Jacob. That what he tells Locke. While we love to hate Ben, he does have a direction - to serve the island - and to serve it is to serve Jacob. Again - now we find out he has never met Jacob. I'm not giving anything away to this point. Ben has lost his leadership mojo as Locke has taken over from him and even Richard. So good! Every time I what another episode reaction from you - I keep saying - I can't wait until X episode or X happens. The morale is not the end of the story but the ride. Enjoy the ride and thanks.
Great episode Elie, I really enjoyed you trying to put the twisted timeline together bit by bit! You commented on how Juliet from 1977 is looking more beautiful than ever. I agree and I think it is also true that 40 yr old Ellie has never looked better either. There's something about those blond curls of hers or something but to me she is giving Juliet a bit of competition for sure. Many may disagree but as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Can't wait for the next episode to drop!
While the island is always moving, it's not constantly... the time skips were our people moving thru time. Daniel said it was likely that they were moving thru time. So it was shot-in-the-leg John that flashed out to another time.
Well if you watched the finale already, we can remind you that when we first saw dr Chang on the orientation video in the hatch, one of his arms was seriously injured. Now we got to see what happened to him in season finale 😮
I don't think there are actual "Time Loops" where things are repeated. Time is still linear. Our people were passing through times when they were skipping..That has stopped now. T. L. Ellie remembers things that have happened in her past. The finale awaits...
Ahhhh this is my favourite episode of Lost. That scene with Locke, Ben and Richard blew me away the first time I watched it and still gives me chills all these years later.

Is Daniel's diary a new diary every time? Or is Daniel's diary the same diary in a time loop like a compass? If so, is the origin of the diary also a mystery? And there wasn't a moment when Eloise wrote this in Daniel's diary? Or did she write it on a new diary every time, and throw the old diary away? If she threw away an old diary every time, instead of a new one, then how many such old diaries have accumulated and where are they? These are the questions I have in my head

At this point I just felt so bad for Juliette because I was her. It sucks seeing somebody you love "maybe" wanna be with their "ex" whom they loved before you. If it's in your head or real lol but.....this is where... lmao
Did you really like the submarine scene? It has to be probably one of the worst CGI I have ever seen. But it's for a TV show that aired weekly, so it flies.

jacob is like a god to island people, they are happy there. almost all of them feel to importance of this place, some of them actually healed on this island so there is no reason to question the god. of course they would wanna see him but when u say u wanna kill their god, its def sus. this is def not same john we have seen on season 1. john really became a thing "Christian" can manipulate when he started to question acobs existence. he wanted to see if he is real so he searched for him with ben on season 3 finale. from that point he has been easy to manipulate cos he started to lose his faith.
Tbh to me season 1-3 Jack is a boring saviour "main hero" character who's only clear flaw is he had anger issues. (but other characters don't even comment on it, so eh...).
