Good vidéo. Shoulders must always cross the line of the board , better rule is to say : make sure your front elbow never , ever cross your front knee. Cheers

Can above your average volume shortboard make it more difficult to knife steep waves? Ex using a 33L board when you normally surf 29 on steeper waves.

Most definitely can. Will be harder to dig the rail in. Potentially needing more back foot pressure with less of the rail in the water during the bottom turn.
But there is also another argument to be made that more volume could help you get in earlier. Rail length also makes a big difference, I've found that 5'7 at 24 liters is really small for me and hard to manage as soon as the waves are like 3ft then I am much better off with 5'9 26l
24l 5'7 is just way too unstable for me when the surf is slightly more punchy. But there are so many other factors to consider, I like to think about liters last rather than the first thing that determines my opinion about the board. I prefer to start with the rail length

@@independentsurfer Thanks thats great info, normally I surf 5'11 around 29-30L but picked up the everyday happy 5'11 at 32L but definitely feel like the rails are a bit too much sometimes. I am very used to taking off on a 5'11 ghost but on the happy I find it more difficult taking off a bit late.
