How do you recommend keeping these ports free from shit? 1hd fte in particular but they’re probably all much the same. Have you got any feedback on CEM (cost effective maintenance) products at all which they say can keep these components free from carbon build up. Block egr I imagine would be 1 option. Cheers
I really can't see how a product that is added to the fuel can somehow clear the gunk that builds up in the intake manifold and intake ports. No fuel goes thru the intake manifold as it is squirted directly inside the combustion chamber, which is located past the intake manifold. I did see the literature from Cost Effective Maintenance and they claim they can clean the intake. But how can that be achieved when their product is mixed with the fuel which does not go through the intake manifold, but delivered past the inlet valves?
Thats why we need to install a mechanical filtration oil catch can and delete the EGR

On the FTE you can block the vacuum pipe to the egr vacuum valve. Then remove all the intake, clean it (quite a chore) and you are good to go.
