I gotta say mate, your reviews are much more informative than car advice and car expert. It's about time Australia had someone who didn't just lazily rehash brochures and press releases. Keep up the good work - consider a website too :-)
Nice review from Tom as usual. Will be great is you can take some great shots with the car along with a good background music at the start of the video like you guys did for Golf GTI or Golf R.
I test drove yesterday the diesel and the V6. In fact I had the diesel given to me to use overnight. After driving the v6 I would never buy the diesel. To me it was like a different world and I was pretty surprised. The diesel was noisy in the cabin, lacked power at freeway speeds and felt unrefined. The Hyundai dealer said since the v6 came in people tended to opt for it over the diesel. I drove the petrol around Brisbane’s hills and did not find it lacked pep to deal with them.
I agree fully. Just sold the 3.3 v6 Santa fe and bought a 3.5 v6 Santa fe. Enough power in the petrol version. Diesel is good if you tow or go remote. Most people don't. Extra cost in diesel is Adblue additive as well and potential PDF filter problems if used mostly in town.
If the Palisade and Toyota Hylander and the Tucson and Toyota RAV4 are in the same class, what exactly does Toyota have currently that competes with this Santa Fe?
In America, the answer would be the new Venza SUV that will come out later this year. In Australia the classes don’t line up so well. At the moment the Kluger competes against the Santa Fe, but once the Palisade is released, there won’t really be a Toyota SUV that directly answers the smallish seven-seater Santa Fe.
Hey mate, really love your car reviews. There great, clear and enjoyable to watch with not too much information overload. Great video on the new SantaFe. Just wondered if you could do a review on Hyundai's parent SUV the Kia Sorrento, just to see your preference and comparison on each one.
We Love our New Santa Fe’ and find the base engine to be more than adequate. We live in a City that hasn’t done anytihng to it’s rough main roads and even worse second dairy roads in over 10 years. The Santa Fe’ rides like a luxury car and is QUIET inside. We don’t get the 3 row here in the US and we don’t get the 3.5. or the diesel. I see the 2021 Face lifted Santa Fe’ is really stepping it up yet AGAIN.
Glad you found it helpful. The petrol V6 is FWD only in Australia due to issues with the right hand drive alignment - the diesel is the only AWD option if you need that extra traction.
The petrol will only account for about 20-25% of total sales. Hyundai are not looking at an AWD Petrol variant even if one was or is available. So it's FWD only for the petrol & the far better selling diesel will remain in AWD .
It’s nice but I can’t still for the life of me do not comprehend why many car brands make centre screens look like a 80’s handheld game boy. Make screens with no bezels please.
Would be easy to go to hard-edged rectangular screens if you don’t want bezels, but the costs involved in doing rounded screen edges would probably be the main factor about why you see these bezels.
A shame on two wheel drive only for V6. Although your points are taken on the V6 two wheel drive, the difference is that the four wheel drive makes it a better choice for towing. More especially around boat ramps.
Yes, it’s a left hand drive to right hand drive issue. Should be solved if they decide to put the new V6 from the forthcoming GV80 into the Santa Fe, but I can absolutely imagine they might prefer to keep that engine for their luxury brand.
@@trainingtheworld5093 yes most of it is ie. engine, but the driving dynamics will still be slightly different and interior execution looks better from the pics I've seen - www.carshowroom.com.au/news/all-new-2021-kia-sorento-revealed-with-more-space-and-tech/ and this www.caradvice.com.au/827421/2021-kia-sorento-officially-revealed/
There’s something about the styling of this one that just doesn’t work. The previous Gen was better styled and proportioned. Tucson is car better looking
Hey man, just wanted to say keep up the good work. Your reviews are really spot on.
Thanks a lot. Appreciate the support!
One of the better reviews I have seen meaning discriptive covering most points.
Well done.
Thanks very much, Shane.

@@chasingcars LOL, oops , I never even checked! I now have something new to look at while sitting around home during CV. Cheers for the reply, mate.
Could you please include your comments about full spare, space saver or repair kit for obvious reasons. Otherwise your comments are spot on

Why doesn’t Hyundai offer the 3.5 V6 with all-wheel-drive versions of the Santa Fe in Australia, like they do in other markets where the V6 is sold?
Hello, Im from Dominican Republic and they do sell the V6 AWD. I own one and I love it!
Great review, very balanced. Will look at more of your reviews. Thanks
Thanks, Graeme.

I drove a 2019 Santa Fe with the 2.5L naturally aspirated engine; while weak it seemed to do the job reasonably well
The best channel
We appreciate that.
Nice SUV. I wish we had the 6 cylinder option in the US.
I own a 2020 V6, 3.5 Engine and I love it. it is very smooth ride!
Really good detailed review & all practical info thanks Can you please review Mazda CX9 2020 next thanks

Looking forward to the Pallisade and GV80 later this year or early next year. Hynundai and Kia have come a long way now make some really good cars.
Hyundai has come a long way and it appears to still be climbing. Looking forward to the GV80.
Wish they had V6 here in Canada
It's a good unit.
The new Sorento about to be released in OZ will be on the same platform as this Hyundai or is it on a new platform?
The Sorento joins the Santa Fe on this relatively new platform in the Hyundai world.
The petrol will only account for about 20-25% of total sales. Hyundai are not looking at an AWD Petrol variant even if one was or is available. So it's FWD only for the petrol & the far better selling diesel will remain in AWD .
Hi Tom. Could you do a review of all new generation Kia sorento please?
When it's released in Australia, we'll absolutely do a video on the new Sorento for you. Stay tuned.
@@chasingcars Thanks mate. Love your reviews. keep up the good work. Stay safe!

Chasing Cars it is shame that I heard Kia will not offer hybrid version of the new Sorento, is that what you heard as well?

I don't think this is a good choice for a 3 row vehicle. I don't think the 3 row is available in the US.
Great review!
Just a question. What do you think is better.
The Mazda CX-9 or Hyundai Santa Fe
I’d closely consider both. I prefer the ride and engine of the CX-9, but it’s a much longer and bulkier car.
Will be interesting to see how this matches up against the new incoming Kia Sorento.

Definitely an interesting comparison in the works for when the Sorento comes out.
Still no third row curtain airbags, right?
That’s right. Hyundai says they cover the windows of the third row but they don’t extend to the very rear of the vehicle.
@@chasingcars thanks. Hopefully the new Sorento will have proper airbags.
@@chasingcars do you know if this is the engine that will be in the new Sorento petrol?
daniel de palo based on the Korean version of the new Sorento, yep, 3.5L petrol and 2.2L diesel, with improved economy and slight power jump.
Buy V6 petrol while you can. Such engines are almost impossible to buy new in Europe due to wannabe eco-madness.
Hyundai sends us different engines to Europe but agreed, it won't last forever

Agree, it's polarising. I quite like it in the blue, though!
Front wheel drive only? Next...
Yep. The 2.2 diesel is the AWD option.
Why isn’t AWD offered on the V6 Santa Fe in Australia like the 2.2 diesel?
Chosed the CRV over the Santa Fe Td, maybe due to brand allegiance..
Glad you're enjoying your car.
douglas yong quite ironic considering Hyundai in Australia is doing better in sales then Honda In Australia
I would rather the diesel version
Fair enough - the diesel AWD powertrain is still available.
Naturally aspirated. That's a turn off.
In some ways yes, but a force-fed petrol six in a big barge like this would drink considerably more.
