Happy New Year everyone! It's so good to be back after a much-needed holiday break. And I'm extra excited to be back with a finished Stripe Hype! Enjoy and happy knitting! ❤
I love your video!! ❤️🙌🏻✝️🙏🏻❤️ god bless you!! I wanted to ask do you have any advice for publishing?? I have decided to publish one of my own knitting patterns. And I want to make it free for other people. How do I promote it when I’m done knitting/ uploading the pattern.
Watching you puff out the sweater and talk about dumplings had me laughing. I love it! I think it has this casual-but-elegant vibe that works really well for you. It’s not like “heyyyyy grrrrlllll”, but it’s definitely “let’s have a coffee date” - does that make sense?! 😂 Wearing that you’d be the mom I see at Hockey practice and think “I want to be her friend”. Approachable, friendly, effortless, cool. That’s the vibe!
I love this so much. Thank you! I’m totally wearing it to hockey practice with this in mind. Makes my day. And I totally get the “hey grrrrrllll” vs “let’s have coffee thing”-like I 100% know what you mean. ❤️
Personally, I think the sweater looks perfect! It gives a sweatshirt vibe, rather than a more formal sweater. And while it is an oversized fit, you don’t look lost in it…or like you’re wearing your dad’s sweater!! Great FO!!
Okay, hear me out. Matching Fire Pit legwarmers or bootcuffs. I honestly can't get enough. The slouch is just so perfect, squishy, cozy. Just finished my first pair and casting another on. Fantastic job with the pattern. Also, the dumpling sweater does make sense, it's the shape.
I've done a couple kutovakika patterns and they do usually come out more boxy, but they are super cozy. THE COLORS THOUGH!! They look fantastic on you in general, but in that setting of your studio office, you fit in so well. It's a whole aesthetic and I am here for it!!
Welcome back !! You sound very chilled and rested after your break and I’m looking forward to hearing about this season of modifications 💚 The stripe sweater is beautiful - well worth continuing to finish 💚
On the fold down socks for the teacher…….we used to call those Bobbi socks. Now showing my age. I like the stripe sweater on you but I like extra room . Wishing you a great 2024
Tayler, your Stripe Hype sweater is absolutely adorable on you. It looks comfy and cozy and cute!!! Happy New Year!!! Your son made me giggle. Too cute. 😂
Hi Tayler, thank you for your latest video, the sweater looks really great on you 🤩💕 A few months ago I stumbled across an easier way to do tubular cast on for 1/1 ribbing in the round: Cast on half of the number of stiches you need for your project with a contrast yarn (you can use a provisonal cast on with a crochet hook or a long tail cast on) and close to the round. Knit one round with the contrast yarn. Then with the actual yarn: Rnd 1: repeat *(knit, yarnover)* till end of rnd (you've doubled the stiches) Rnd 2: repeat *(slip the knit stich purlwise with yarn in back, purl the yo)* till the end of round Rnd 3: repeat *(knit, slip purlwise with yarn in front)* till the end of round Rnd 4: repeat *(slip purlwise with yarn in back, purl)* till the end of round From round 5 you can *(k, p)* your ribbing in the usual way. After a few rounds of ribbing frog the contrast yarn 😊 I hope my description is understandable, I'm no native speaker 😅🤗
Love how the sweater turned out, I think the colour combo is really pretty 😊Just cast on to my first cardigan today since 2024 is going to be a year of trying new patterns and techniques for me
Love love love the sweater on you as it is! It's supposed to be oversized and cozy. It's a curl up by the fire and knit vibe, not a dress to impress vibe. That said, I'm impressed!
I 24:45 love the caramel and light gray of your dumpling sweater! The caramel goes so well with your hair. Yes, it is oversized. But as long as its cozy. Its a win!
I love your sweater!! My 12-ye daughter just sat down next to me, saw your sweater, and asked me to make her one. I’ve never made a sweater before, so this should be interesting!
I love the socks! Love the nice folded over top. So cute. I think you are too hard on your self. Your sweater is gorgeous. So what you can't see your figure. That sweater I can see going anywhere. The color is perfect. The fit is oversized and perfect. The other sweater is also beautiful. That teal color is everything. Happy New Year!
I'm glad to see the strip hype sweater completed. And while it's not a Date Night Sweater, it is cute and not Dumplingly at all! I love the cast off. I just casted off a sweater and am unhappy with it, so am going to look into that tubular cast off!
i have broad shoulders too and I love them so much because they provide a great hanger for clothes. i find that drop shoulder construction tries to mask my shape and posture in a way I don't like. they're so popular now though that i'm actually learning how to redraft drop shoulder patterns to sit on my shoulders. you can have the exact same oversized shape but move the seam up so you don't have a horizontal seam essentially going across the broadest part of your body. a seam at the top of your shoulders would have emphasized just how small your frame is and long your arms are. The sweater is still cute as hell bc of your amazing construction / color picks, but this is totally why I've been sticking to raglans until I learn how to redraft. I have plenty of store bought drop shoulder stuff in my closet and some of it looks very good, but it just doesn't feel like my ideal, dream fit.
i definitely think the stripe hype has a kind of masculine fit, but 1) that's really just what you get with drop shoulder sweaters like that, 2) a lot of kika's patterns are pretty unisex and as a result don't have a super feminine fit, especially her sweaters (which as a male knitter i personally really like lol) and 3) it looks GREAT on you! it doesn't have to be feminine to be flattering. it has a casual and relaxed look and a kind of boyfriend fit that looks extremely cozy and not at all out of place. if you at any point stop loving the 'dumpling' look, a wet block would relax the ribbing and allow it to drape more smoothly. either way i love the sweater!
Thank you so much Conor. You’re totally right here. And I definitely plan on wet blocking this. I think I’ll even do before and after photos to see the difference it makes. ☺️❤️
I like how your stripe hype turned out. I wonder if you feel that way as it’s a drop down shoulder construction (if I’m right you mainly wear raglans, I might be wrong) so maybe it just feels different on? Or maybe you could go down a size next time? It does look lovely though. Just an fyi, the Sunday socks are a heel flap and gusset not a short row heel.
I finished my Stripe Hype as my first of 2024too. Mine was made with brushed alpaca silk held double and although it is soft it was a pain to knit with. So glad it’s finished. And it is a bit oversized which is not what I was going for. But now I’m finishing the sleeves on my salty days and made a Stockholm vest v neck for New Year’s Eve. I was busy. So funny too, that I’m starting sweater no. 18 also. 20:01 Good to see you. Happy new year.
You look great in your Stripe Hype. The colors are great on you, too. I’m looking forward to learning about modifications in the next 8 weeks. Thanks for always coming up with great content 🎉
Re Stripe Hype…yeah I agree with you. At first in the video, I thought “Man! Why isn’t this in my ravelry favourites?!” Then I checked out the photos and the project page photos. Uh oh! This would do nothing for me. And it doesn’t look very good in the designer’s photos either. I like how it looks on you when you were still sitting LOL! And I love the unusual colour combo you chose. It will be good as a laze about the house sweater, or with an anorak thrown on top when you go to the arena. Unfortunately, there are many designs out there in the ravelverse that don’t employ skilled tailoring/shaping (including from some VERY successful designers). We gave to be Sherlock when looking at the photos. But you did a beautiful job!
Thank you so much. And I totally agree. Sometimes tailored shaping is lost when it’s needed most. I do feel like this sweater is totally good for modifying or even adding a little waist shaping. If I were to knit it again, I would do lots of modifications to correct some of the shape “issues”. ❤️
Speaking of modification, I am knitting your fire pit mits for someone with a large hand so I am starting with 42 stitches and making a thumb gusset of 14 stitches.
👋🏻 hi! I didn't watch to the end, but that sweater looks great on you. You look like a teenager ! You remind me of Eleven from "stranger things", and that's really 😎...but, we must feel good in one's knits in spite of what other people say!🙂... i just knitted a beatifull sweater, if I may say so myself, but it doesn't look good on me, and that is a general opinion here because I checked, however, I like it so mutch, I am going to wear it and fell like a princess and not a queen. ( because I feel like the queen of the world when I wear my knits 😊...I really do!!!😊) Lots of love from Lisbon!!! Happy 2024!
I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE your striped sweater. It’s so cozy, comfortable looking. So glad you didn’t frog it. The drop sleeves just define the look -maybe not something you are as comfortable with but it looks spectacular!!! Well done
It looks super cozy but when I make over-sized, cozy sweaters I don't put a cinched-in rib band on the bottom because of that 'dumpling' effect. I generally, make my over-sized sweaters with a split side seam and a loose, decorative rib at the hem.
Our body image is such a personal thing; you have broad shoulders? Anyway, if we feel it, we do. Coining a new phrase with the dumpling sweater; love it.
Happy New Year Taylor. I love your stripe hype sweater. I really like the way the stripes flow together, the drop shoulders and ribbing. The shape is perfect for the pattern.
I looove the stripe hype, dumplings or no. 🤣 I like a drop shoulder, so I am eyeing it after the FKAL. Looking at the model photos.. I think it fits as it ‘should’? Looks great and so comfy! Thanks for blazing the Frankentrail. 😊
I 100% agree with you and I feel like I was sort of just acknowledging that even thought this isn’t the ideal shape for my body according to whoever it is that sets these standards (😂🤣😅), I really don’t care. It’s comfy and cute and I feel good in it, so…I win. 😉😘
Your Stripe Hype sweater looks fantastic on you. It looks comfy and roomy but not overly over sized like some patterns do. I love it. And your look has convinced me that I want one of my own. It's the perfect swearshirty-like sweater. Perfect for sitting in front of a campfire as we often do as we travel in an RV for anywhere from 6 to 9 months of the year.
I’m so glad I found your channel! I’m also a mom of 2 boys! 2 and 5, and and l’ve really been enjoying listening to your videos while I knit recently 🤗 the vibes do be vibing lol happy new year!
Adapting patterns is a great idea. I’m 5’1” is not typical. I have small bones and normal weight. Problem is I’m T2D and I carry my fat on my waist and belly so use sizes larger than the rest of me. Adapting patterns for me then is a really goood b
I love the sweater. I seriously don’t think that anyone is going to notice the dumpling aspects that you’re pointing out. I didn’t notice anything except you did a fabulous job on it.
Happy to see you! Love the stripe hype. I cast on Sweater No 18 in lionbrand fisherman’s a few weeks ago. Almost have the first part done and I’m just not sure. It’s in time out for a bit while I consider
I too have been struggling with pattern choice. I have broad shoulders from weight training and a B/C cup. All the oversized drop shoulders may not be the best choice for me as well. I’ve decided that after I finish this first raglan for myself, I will no longer follow patterns blindly. I will resize everything based on the two books I bought and use the patterns methodology. Who knows where that will go!!
I know it's not related to modifications, but I'd be curious about a blocking technicalities video! Many knitters know blocking is good, but I'd love to know if there's a technical side to it. I've heard about yarn blooming, but don't really know what it means or what to look out for, and what blocking something "bigger" or "smaller" might mean for the garment in the long term, or just anything related to blocking you think might be interesting!
Happy New Year. I like your sweater a lot. Specially the tiny grey stripe detail at (only) the collar. I like the length, cropped, and it goes well with the oversize. One thing my eye was drawn to. Front, from collar to body. I can't think of an aprovement.
Happy New Year……..great to see you back! The sweater DOES look comfy and cozy and you’re right it does look a bit voluminous but it looks great on you. I see the pattern suggests a DK merino and you used a more rustic worsted so that may have added to the volume. Where are you’re rock, paper, scissor point protectors?
I see what you're talking about with the shoulder issue, but I think that it's because you used to have a pixie cut! I've noticed my shoulders look different proportionally depending on my hair length or hair due, sometimes. But with your hair as it is right now, the dropped shoulder looks fabulous on you!
Glad to see you after your break. The socks are perfect! It’s a cute sweater. It would not be my pick for my figure (drop shoulders are a no go) but it seems like the perfect sweater to curl up in with coffee on a rainy day.
Hi Tayler! Love your podcasts! I wanted to tell you something you may want to try in lieu of a tubular or Italian cast on. Another podcast (Knits and Pieces) suggested doing an alternating cable cast on. It’s much easier and I believe it looks very similar!
Helloooo Taylor You look fresh, invigorated and ready for the new year🥰 I love your sweater you are wearing I think it looks cute on you and love the stripes Enjoy it !! 😊🥰
Hi Tayler, happy new year! I got a spinning wheel for Christmas (the very same one you have/recommended!), and I was curious where you're at on your journey of learning to spin yarn. So far, I've found it engaging, frustrating, and rewarding all at once.

The sweater is so chic on you! It looks intentionally oversized and stylish, not sloppy. It looks amazing!
I love how the sweater sits on you, it is exactly as it has to be. It’s all about how you feel about it, not how it looks to a stranger
You need to invent a dumpling sweater now 😆
Okay, hear me out. Matching Fire Pit legwarmers or bootcuffs.
I honestly can't get enough. The slouch is just so perfect, squishy, cozy. Just finished my first pair and casting another on. Fantastic job with the pattern.

I think this new schedule will help. I've been gobsmacked at your ability to craft as much as you do, what with running the yarn business too.
I’m playing Tayler catch up. I love how you edit the parts on the podcast when you are talking to yourself about the sweater. Among other things…♥️
Dumpling Sweater. You've just created a new sweater category!!
Also love your hair!
LOVE the sweater on you! It’s a boxy sweatshirt style, fantastic! The length is great because it keeps it from swallowing you. Well done!!
Thank you Nanette!
Welcome back !!
You sound very chilled and rested after your break and I’m looking forward to hearing about this season of modifications 💚
The stripe sweater is beautiful - well worth continuing to finish 💚
On the fold down socks for the teacher…….we used to call those Bobbi socks. Now showing my age.
I like the stripe sweater on you but I like extra room .
Wishing you a great 2024
A whole sweater in a week, AND you’re put together, AND your family too? You are a powerhouse girl!!
Thank you! 🙏 😘
Tayler, your Stripe Hype sweater is absolutely adorable on you. It looks comfy and cozy and cute!!! Happy New Year!!! Your son made me giggle. Too cute. 😂
Thank you so much Catherine! I’ve been wearing it all morning and really love it. It’s very comfy. Happy New Year!❤
I think the Dumpling Sweater is cute. It's just a boxy 80s style that is flattering.
Thank you! I do really like it. It's super cozy. ❤️
I love the sweater as is. Very cute! I loved the colors too.
Hi Tayler, thank you for your latest video, the sweater looks really great on you 🤩💕

I hope my description is understandable, I'm no native speaker 😅🤗
This is fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing this!
that sweater looks absolutely amazing on you! fantastic work!
Thank you so much! ❤❤
I seriously wish I was able to knit. I wanna have cute socks and sweaters! Your Stripe Hype sweater looks SO cozy!!
I think that kind of jumper suits being a very casual, dumplingy shape! I think you look totally cute in it!
I think you are overthinking this sweater. It has an upscale sweatshirt vibe and looks great on you.😊
The size of your sweater looked comfy to me. Very cute. I will make one this fall. Great for a football game!
Glad you had a relaxing break! And excited to have you back 😊
Thank you Nikki! It's good to be back, but the break was wonderful. ❤️
Just found your vlog last night. What fun, you are truly and educator.
Hype sweater is great. If u concentrate on modifications for ur vlog will definitely watch. Have a great 2024! Thanks for sharing.
Love how the sweater turned out, I think the colour combo is really pretty 😊Just cast on to my first cardigan today since 2024 is going to be a year of trying new patterns and techniques for me
I started my first cardigan this year too!
@@comfycozytooGood luck! I've already had to rip back mine twice 💀
Love love love the sweater on you as it is! It's supposed to be oversized and cozy. It's a curl up by the fire and knit vibe, not a dress to impress vibe. That said, I'm impressed!
Thank you so much! I wet blocked it since sharing it here and I show this picture on the next episode. It’s even better now. I love it SO much! ❤️
I 24:45 love the caramel and light gray of your dumpling sweater! The caramel goes so well with your hair. Yes, it is oversized. But as long as its cozy. Its a win!
Thank you so much Jeanette!
I love your sweater!! My 12-ye daughter just sat down next to me, saw your sweater, and asked me to make her one. I’ve never made a sweater before, so this should be interesting!
Oh that’s so cool! What a great motivation to knit your first sweater! ❤️
You look adorable in the sweater and you’re cracking me up with the “dumpling” talk!😅
Girl!! Tuck that sweater in and see how it looks. It’s super cute and I think the colors really work for you. I’d love to see it styled with a skirt.
so adorable!!
Your Stripe Hype is cute. Makes me think of a cozy sweatshirt.
I'm glad to see the strip hype sweater completed. And while it's not a Date Night Sweater, it is cute and not Dumplingly at all! I love the cast off. I just casted off a sweater and am unhappy with it, so am going to look into that tubular cast off!

Just an fyi, the Sunday socks are a heel flap and gusset not a short row heel.

I like the sweater. Casual feel but pretty, with a clean simple airy look.
You look great in your Stripe Hype. The colors are great on you, too. I’m looking forward to learning about modifications in the next 8 weeks. Thanks for always coming up with great content 🎉
I think you look adorable in the Stripe Hype sweater 💕
Thank you Pamela!
Good morning from Europe! Happy new year!
I'm making the fire side mitts with my home spun and I love them.
Oh cool! Thank you Christine. I'm so glad you're loving them and I'm honored that you're knitting my pattern with you handspun. ❤️
Happy New York !!
Speaking of modification, I am knitting your fire pit mits for someone with a large hand so I am starting with 42 stitches and making a thumb gusset of 14 stitches.
Happy new year, stay healthy. The best for you and your familiy. Missed you from the middle of Europe.
I love your Stripe hype sweater and I think it looks adorable on you.
You look terrific in your sweater!
Thank you Cherie!
It looks great, you are totally overthinking this!!
Happy New Year. It's a casual, comfy sweater. It doesn't look too big. Only when you put your arms up, showing the bulkiness. Maybe if it was longer?
Happy 2024!
Yay! You’re back! ❤
Hi Star! Happy New Year!
I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE your striped sweater. It’s so cozy, comfortable looking. So glad you didn’t frog it. The drop sleeves just define the look -maybe not something you are as comfortable with but it looks spectacular!!! Well done
Thank you so much Joanne!
Wow you really analyzed that sweater to death.
You must be new here. 😉
Love your sweater!
Your little boy is sooooo cute!
Thank you!!! ❤️
This sweater looks so good on you. It makes you look petite and cute. It looks so cozy and comfortable.
I love that sweater on you. It's on the same lines as a sweatshirt, and you look great in it.❤
Ooo that looks great on you love the stripes and colour Tayler
Happy New Year Taylor. I love your stripe hype sweater. I really like the way the stripes flow together, the drop shoulders and ribbing. The shape is perfect for the pattern.
Happy New Year to you! Thank you so much!
I looove the stripe hype, dumplings or no. 🤣 I like a drop shoulder, so I am eyeing it after the FKAL. Looking at the model photos.. I think it fits as it ‘should’? Looks great and so comfy!
Thanks for blazing the Frankentrail. 😊
Thank you Rachel! And btw, I received your email. I haven’t had a chance to reply yet, but thank you. ❤️
I actually really like the dumpling sweater 😂! Especially the colors with the stripe pattern.
Okay I MUST know where that mug is from! It's so cute!!!
I agree with all our friends who love the look of this sweater on you. It looks great.
Stripe Hype looks great! Kika designs many of her sweaters to be oversized and slouchy.
I think that sweater is a great Sunday sweater to go along with the socks!
Good fun vlog. Thanks!
I really like it and i think it's cute!
I don't think sweaters need to be ~flattering~ to be beautiful! it looks cozy and gorgeous on you! Be a beautiful dumpling!!
2 and 5, and and l’ve really been enjoying listening to your videos while I knit recently 🤗 the vibes do be vibing lol
happy new year!
I think your new plan is brilliant!! Very much a sweatshirt sweater.
I can see the dumpling in it too but it honestly looks great!
Cutest ending ever!
Thank you! ☺️☺️
I just started this sweater today. Hoping it turns out as nicely as yours.
Adapting patterns is a great idea. I’m 5’1” is not typical. I have small bones and normal weight. Problem is I’m T2D and I carry my fat on my waist and belly so use sizes larger than the rest of me. Adapting patterns for me then is a really goood b

Thank you so much Donna! ❤️❤️
Yes! 100% yes to this plan Veronica! That’s when knitting becomes truly fulfilling. I’m all about it. ❤️
The stripe sweater is beautiful! So cozy-comfy!
Cutest outtro yet. 😂😂
Thank you! He’s my little showman. ☺️
Hi! I love the sweater, but I would redo the bottom ribbing so that it does not cinch in. I think that would eliminate the "dumpling" look.
Helloooo Taylor
You look fresh, invigorated and ready for the new year🥰
I love your sweater you are wearing
I think it looks cute on you and love the stripes
Enjoy it !!
😊🥰
Thank you so much Debbie! Happy New Year to you!
Hi Tayler, happy new year! I got a spinning wheel for Christmas (the very same one you have/recommended!), and I was curious where you're at on your journey of learning to spin yarn. So far, I've found it engaging, frustrating, and rewarding all at once.
So lovely to have you back…….so glad you had such a lovely festive season with your friends and family ……..happy new year to you all 🎉😊
Thank you so much Joann! It’s great to be back. Happy New Year to you and yours. ❤️❤️
I am excited for the new format that you have planned.
I love the sweater! You calling it a dumpling is perfect and now I want to make one!
