True. Except the Bill Maher interview with Tony was pretty terrible. Not because of Tony though. Check it out, you'll see. I do wonder about how Tony feels about having to answer the same questions over and over and telling the same stories over and over. I'm fairly sure he's ok with it because he's such a chill guy but man, I couldn't do it.
This man is essentially the reason I broke a wrist, tore an Achilles tendon, dislocated a shoulder and certainly a number of undiagnosed concussions. Being a 13 year old in Egypt we knew nothing of the skate tapes or cky or jackass. That first video game changed all that, and gave us horribly unrealistic goals with our boards Much love and gratitude to daddy Birdman!!!

For real, whoever put the soundtracks together for those games changed the world, bigtime. I know Tony had some influence and input, but whoever at Neversoft or whatever... 🙌.
Any skater that thinks Tony hawk is underrated or lame or whatever else is a total idiot. You couldn't ask for a better poster-child for the industry that you love. It's incredible how good of a guy he's stayed through all the years. Super legend.
I used to hate on Tony Hawk when I barely "skated street." Now that I am older and have more perspective, and less punk mentality. He has always been a good dude.
Tony Hawk will always be rad! He was recently out in Two Grey Hills New Mexico skating for their skate park opening. The Navajo Nation President Buu Van Nygren rips 🛹
One of my favorite comedian turned great interviewer facing one of my idols - put YT on the big screen, get some chips and a beer and I’m having a great time
Tony Hawk replaced Michael Jordan as my childhood hero after THPS came out, and is the entire reason I started skating. you know, they say don't meet your idols and that would probably be best for jordan, but I would definitely want to meet Tony! he always seems so down to earth
@1:07:40 watch Neal give advice that reinforces his own choices and values. "Kids and family? And you LIKE that?! Huh. Well, let's not ignore how career success is the best thing and there's a ton of value...measured concretely in dollars...that can be achieved through selfishness and self-abuse."
Ive been a Tony fan since 86. I built my backyard ramp because of him and the Bones gang in Ohio and it kicked of a life of always putting some effort in to your ambitions and curiosities. Nobody will do it for you.
I don't listen to Neal because I've noticed that he has zero patience for anyone who doesn't feel the way he does on social issues. I did enjoy this interview with Tony. Tony is usually asked the same 10 questions in every single interview he does. This Pod was different. So it gets a thumb 👍 up.
Wow 56:30 GenX’s parents were reminded by the news to think where are the kids? Whereas today it seems parents’ are dominated by knowing EXACTLY where their kids’ are! There needs to be a better balance going forward. Kids should not have to be missed before being acknowledged nor helicoptered around because of the parents’ anxieties (in my very limited opinion).❤😂 ballast be.
Tony Hawk is by far the most widely loved skater, but the king of technical ability is Rodney Mullen, by leaps and bounds. The man is a literal savant (of unparalleled skill in one area, but likely on the spectrum)
Whoa, that's a really dark term. I get it, but still. Maybe it's more about the combination of economists employing the concept of "moral" than anything? (pause... "Hhmmm?") Thanks for giving me something to nerd out on
There is never a bad Tony Hawk interview. This guy is just open and free.

Lol I never considered the bar it set “double backflips are possible”
😊
the "pull back" edit at 6:06 ... im probably enjoying that more than i should
I'm glad to see Tony appear on different podcasts lately. He's a great guest.
I love the subtle zoom out in the editing when tony said "pull back from skating.." around 6:05 . Good editor 👏
Will is a master
Birdman! The legend…can’t wait for the upcoming game release 🤘🏼 we love you and everything you did for the sport! 🖤
What game release? Thanks,
The Blocks continuously delivers with it's guests! What a treat of a podcast 👍👏
It is appointment-listening.

23:00 THPS excelled for a number of reasons, but other than the replayability of it, the soundtrack was the killer feature. It had incredible music.
Agreed.

6:06 that pull back edit was genius.
Tony hawk is 55 but with the voice of a 20 year old. Another great episode by Neal!!
I have become a huge Neal fan, this podcast is great all the way around

Im glad Neal and Tony let each other know about what they were going to wear for the podcast (lol). But both are looking sharp
TY. Tony H is the GOAT of skaters. Genx amazing 🤩

Im so excited about this !
The edits in this pod are always so cool!!!
the editor is a true hero, we should all aspire to be so cool
Tony Hawk has been a big influence in my life ever since I started skating back in the 80s, really enjoyed this episode!
Caught Neal’s show in Toronto last Sunday. LOVED it!!! Thank you for the show!
Tony Hawk is a National Treasure.
Long-time watcher, first-time commenter. Love the show! Thanks Neal!
Also-- Phil Collins did the music for Tarzan, not Elton John. SUPER-easy to mix up!
Tony Hawk will always be rad! He was recently out in Two Grey Hills New Mexico skating for their skate park opening. The Navajo Nation President Buu Van Nygren rips 🛹
Hell yeah! This is gonna be awesome. Hopefully Jason will be on soon
My need to feel seen and acknowledged wants to point I was the 274th viewer of this episode.
You are awesome! And properly self aware not self conscious in my very limited opinion. *aware of my average ness. I hope? 🎉❤
These are so good I’m genuinely looking forward to every one

dude that "two femurs" ping fucking put me in tears. Small comedy is good comedy
Tony always seems very genuine whenever I hear him on pods. Really enjoyed this episode.
Dude is a absolute selfless rock star!
That riley hawk story sounds like a dream man. too cool
LOVED this! Thank You, Tony & Neal!
Great interview. Actually asked some different questions than the usual Hawk interviews.
👍
you are healing the earth
Thanks for a great chat!
What a great set of questions Neal asked, as usual Tony is always a pleasure to watch. Great Pod.
Tony just tries to do skateboard tricks off of his blocks 😂
This is awesome!! What a legend.
Now That's how you do it- from both sides- good episode good listen
Epic guest!
Jason Ellis next, I hope.
My favorite episode yet
The foos gone wild shout out at the end was golden
Tony Hawk for president 2024
The miami dolphins coach and tony hawk !!!! Yes
What a HERO 🫡

This is a really excellent interview. Good shit
Very underrated podcast, can never go wrong with the hawk man. 🦅 I know that's an eagle but there's no hawk emoji lmao
Love Tony Hawk!
I just came to say what everyone already knows... "Tony Hawk - Zero blocks".
The guy was probably Buddha in a previous life.
Lmao yea. Every one of his "blocks" was totally not a block in most aspects
ty i needed that recap
Tony's blocks are literally giant blocks he has to do tricks off of
Heck yeah so good
Jason ellis next! Lover this neal ❤
totally rad.

TONY HAWK RULES!!!!!!
It was played cool, but you can tell Neal was pumped to say "Tony Hawk Blocks"
Tony Hawk is by far the most widely loved skater, but the king of technical ability is Rodney Mullen, by leaps and bounds. The man is a literal savant (of unparalleled skill in one area, but likely on the spectrum)
What a nice fellow.
“Seems European” killed me
The ultimate skater cred and what it means to go pro was playing yourself as a character in Gleaming the Cube...
bigger then the sport
“Two femurs” is such a good goddamned joke.
I guess it should have said '3'
The ‘ding!’ after “two femurs” made me laugh way too hard.
Moral hazard. That's what economists call it when you're so good that other people just act stupid and expect you to handle it because you're so good.

This guy makes me think of the book: Jonathon Livingston Seagull.
🤔 when's the next special coming out?
You interviewed him well

hello
Tony Block
Tony Hawk is like the skateboarding Pete Holmes.
Glad he's over the eyebrow tint block XD

Tony needs to sue that doctor he keeps saying it's my fault from wut I heard doc needs to loose his license

And neil made his from chapelle show, so what?

I wouldn’t say you’re “healing the earth” until CPT. planet comes on with his blocks.
If Tony hawk drinks, why is he so against weed?
Why would you care?
@@josef2012 I only like things that Tony hawk approves of
