As a Mexican who also struggles with anxiety, the way Ralph described his experience with it is exactly the same as my experience, especially when it comes to having endless thoughts of meaningless (sometimes meaningful) questions that feel rather urgent for no apparent reason. Sometimes you’re just so in your head that it starts to affect how “present” you feel you’re coming across to other people. Great episode as always! As far as Ralph’s special goes I thought it was really great, can’t wait to see what he does next
These 2 need to write a show together. Ralph is a character who could do his own version of curb your enthusiasm, and he'd be a barber who tries to be a comic (but never really makes it).
bro alll barbers try to be comics or some time of guidence counselors.... stupid asss haircuts take hour n plus minutes thats why i stopped going to get haircuts i cut my own hair.... and they charge crazy money i will pay but only for special occasions times are rough... id rather eat then look good... im sorry fora yall i gota look bad lol
Neil is meeting one of his kid’s friends in this episode, and it’s adorable. I can see all the micro expressions of trying to fit this episode into the grandiose blocks eps he always makes, but he quickly adjusts into Barbosa’s style and demeanor and it slaps with flying colors.
Blocks is the best podcast on the internet and it’s not even close. Neal created something really special when he came up with this concept. These are real conversations and insights into the psychology of some of the most entertaining and interesting human beings on earth. I am grateful for every episode. Great job to Neal and co.!
Neal gives him props constantly. I thought he originally did it to 'tap in' to Jimmy's audience, but it's just genuine gratitude from Neal. Jimmy always struck me as a cold ass dude, his jokes and delivery are lethal, but this podcast has shown him to be a real mensch.@@CPFilmMarket
The Neal and Ralph combo was surprisingly insightful. Ralph is a funny ass dude, and to see him make Neal actually stop, listen and laugh was truly enjoyable.
He's a genuinely funny guy, he feels like your funny cousin hanging out. I like that he happens to be Mexican as opposed to comedians who make it their whole personality.
Ralph Barbosa - You made a new fan in me with this interview. You seem like you are a genuinely kind soul and no doubt that you have something to say in comedy as well. Thank you for sharing insight about you and for being the refreshing glass of water I needed at this time. Enjoy your ride and may you be blessed.
Both of you are super relatable. Chill, authentic, insightful interview. Ralph is going places. So refreshing he's just a human who happens to be Mexican instead of making being Mexican his whole personality.
Yo no joke Ralph cut my hair one time before a work event. I had just gotten a brand new pair of boots and when I walked into the shop the owner shouted out “Those boots ain’t ever seen a days work!” 😂
@@JEEM-b8p I just watched Ralph’s Netflix special and liked it a lot. He’s definitely one to watch, like Nate Bargatze was when I first found him a few years ago.
You're good Ralph - advice from a middle aged Chicana - love your so called flaws and everything about yourself. Love little Ralph inside of you and do your best. A good therapist never hurts - mine did help me not be so hard on myself because that self criticizing voice can be so mean. Keep going - you're doing the dang thing .
These two seem so comfortable together and Neal is so awesome for not just talking to Ralph but really listen. He’s not trying to mentor him or give him any advice, but Neal is always really great at meeting whoever he’s talking to right where they are at. I really enjoyed this one and Ralph seems like such a good and genuine guy, especially for only being 27. The sky is the limit for this kid, it’s not just hype either. He’s a legit great standup. I’m very excited for him. He has a lot of potential and his humbleness does not read inauthentic in any way. Ralph is Ralph and Ralph is KILLING IT!!!
I've always told men, that complain about the mother of their child, to initiate the child support process if they want to be in their child's life. They look at me crazy when I say it. Good for you, Ralph! ❤
This was really wholesome and enjoyable. Kid has a good head on his shoulders. Shout out to all the young/single fathers out there. Have two boys by two ladies myself. Been a dad since I was 20 y/o. Oldest just graduated hs and is doing big things out of state on a ⚾️ ride. Youngest is on the same path. It gets easier fellas. Turning 40 y/o next yr and I’ve got it all in front of me now!
Sounds like Neal is trying to take shots..."dirt bag" for using 7/11 microwave? Come on. Hats off to Ralph for being so confident and secure with himself. He handled it very well. He's also the celebrity here and has to carry himself inna certain manner. In which he did an outstanding job doing so. Congrats Ralph to all your success. I've seen all your shows. I cant wait until you come to my town. God bless you both.
I saw that Ralph was on here and I've heard Bart Krester mention him but I was still in complete shock. Insanely good standup special. Awesome delivery, imaginative stories, his delivery......chefs kiss. This dude is legit funny.
Great episode, resonate with a lot of things Ralph dealt with growing up (alone a lot, but could entertain myself. Social anxiety, hard to be normal in group of people)
Jezzzuz Krist ! 👏🏽👏🏽 Neal just keeps on killing it with his podcast. Love this new kid Ralph. Hella funny and rising comedian. Thanks Neal for making my Thursday tolerable 🤘🏽✌🏽
I said “Puerto Rican” out loud when he started describing the perfect hair 😂 Also let’s get a Netflix movie deal going of a Mexican kid who’s family is in sort of nefarious activities but the kid wants to be a standup. Basically Ralph’s life haha! Sandler will be in contact with you Ralph.
Ralph you doing podcast has made me a bigger fan. I think your super funny my favorite podcast I watched you on was marks gagnons . I have watched it multiple times. I watched your special and lt was good there were 2 parts i laughed so hard I had to pause it for a second.. the head joke 💯 and the gun to your own head so. Good 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Congratulations on GETTING a Netflix special.
I like that Neal interviewed a young comic, even though its a reminder to me why I could never date a 26 year old at my 40+ age (WTF do we have to talk about?). This kid reminds me a lot of the patients I deal with daily even down to the way he speaks. Love the reductive way Neal describes relationships as women pretending we want to have sex and men pretending they want intimacy, after a few months we both stop pretending, that shit was so funny. I've been saying I wanted a relationship like Rivera and Kahlo for years (and I'm not just using this analogy because he's Mexican) two separate houses and a bridge to connect us when we want to see each other. I'm ok with fvcking the same person forever because of diseases, but the constant in your face interaction when I can entertain myself? eh. Ralph reduced it to I don't want to share my damn tv, tv was my best friend before you, I think encapsulates his generation so appropriately. Chris Rock said, fvck me, feed me, leave me the fvck alone. I kinda agree. But that's my temperment.
Ralph seems like a fascinating character study. I wonder IF he will have these same blocks 10 years from now? As he is younger, and has a lot of life to experience yet, at the same time he gets it...
The story at the end about the friend who re-built the cheap house with his dad and achieved an enviable maturity, sounds like that dude had a good relationship with his father. You can always tell those dudes who had strong father/son bonds in your life as they seem more together.
"Mind zone out thing" Says it all Ralph, I get you 100% here as a dad. It was very cool to see this up and coming comic let loose. Cant wait to see you blow up even more from where you are now. Keep it coming! Lose the Edgar tho..... 🙂
I laughed HARD at the 'Who's got the best hair to cut' slow mo edit. I've watched almost every episode, and this is my first comment. Now that the seal is broken, I'm going to comment all the time, they are going to even dribble out after I'm done commenting.
I wish I could go to the LA show -- i mean I would go to ALL shows if I could (really) cause every show provides its own unique magic (no two shows are the same )
Finally someone Neal hasn't known for 20+ years 😂
Would be weird right? “I’ve known this guy since he was 6” 😂
Watch until the end, he's his dad!
@@P.dripps92 Aha yeh fair point 😅
He's 20+ years older than him 😂
😂😂😂
Ralph deserves his success, he's hilarious, hard working and humble.

And I'm off to watch Ralph's barbershop promo for the 100th time lmao
I would watch this

I'm loving this episode. Ralph's quick wit seems to make Neal genuinely laugh harder than most guests (the "self-check out comedy" line is gold)

huge talent and no ego. can see why he's blowing up.

This is such a great post!
It is among my favorites too. A must listen/watch.
Jimmy Carr needs his props - he told Neal he should do it.
Everyone from the Honeydew pod needs to come here and vice versa 😂

Great hang today. This kid is going places; saw his Netflix special last night. So funny!
Thank you godfather Neal.
Ralph’s honesty, introspective scrutiny, and humility at an early time in his career is so refreshing to me. Love this pod !!
What a relatable dude, love this guy.
Wish this guy all the success in the business and good health so he can enjoy it.
Perfect post!
This was a sweet one....to see a single young dad truly loving being a dad
My favorite epp so far - like a big brother little brother vibe - excellent conversation
Definitely a vibe. So many people are going to be "in love" with these two even more.
Neal, this episode... its like it took a younger person, who you don't really know to help you make some micro-breakthroughs for yourself. It's wild.
Dude out himself on child support to see his son thats noble as fuck.

I was lucky to see him open for Dusty Slay in Houston about a year ago. He's hilarious & glad to see he's getting the recognition he deserves 🏆
The look on Neal’s face when he’s talking shit on his own face and Ralph says “you have nice glasses” 😭😂
Healing the planet Earth 1 unhugged child at a time
Great conversation... First time I'm hearing about Ralph... I'm excited to check out his comedy! Thanks, Neal and Ralph!
Just watched 4 podcast with Ralph n still not enough!!!
Which ones?
Ralph should write a children’s book called “what a dad does”

The special is funny, I laughed a lot which is rare for a lot of the Netflix specials.
4 is one of the best ages. Hope he knows how to kick around a soccer ball. 4-6yr olds love that.

aww he updated the chapter titles. I thought it was hilarious that it was intro then junk food addict for the whole episode
That idea you gave Ralph for the barber shop poster is perfect for him!
