arko is probably the most affordable tallow based soap. it reminds me of the turkish bath i had back in a vacation in antalya. i swear they used a ton of arko soap cause it's the same pleasant smell. bless you
I very often find myself craving so-called “simple” shaves, even though I didn’t grow up with any of the classic gear. I love Arko, haven’t tried the Derby stick yet but will give it a go. Have a great week 👍
Great video as usual, Paul. That seemed a nice, comfortable, relaxing shave (other than having to give a running commentary for us). Yeah, the temps have been in the upper 90's - low 100's here in Oklahoma for last few weeks (mid to upper 30's C). We're finally getting a "cool down" with temps in the upper 80's (upper 20's to lower 30's C). But that's typical for our part of the country. The worse part of it is the humidity -- open the door to let the dogs out it like opening the door to a sauna! Anyway, have a great week. And thank for the positivity, and upbeat content; it really makes my day.
Happy Sunday Paul! Love the sunflower arrangement...thank you Mrs. H!! My stick of Arko is over 2 years old now and the scent has mellowed to an Ivory soap like smell; something I enjoy more. I found the Arko drying, yet it is a decent shaving soap. When I was in Istanbul, I watched a Turkish barber use Arko and he built a fantastic lather...and gave a great cut-throat razor shave to the gent in his chair. I was tempted to give it a go myself. Unfortunately, my plane was about to board and I need to head to the gate. Nothing wrong with using simple, low cost, shaving gear. Sometimes I prefer using my 1964 Schick Krona over any of my high end razors. I have basic soap that perform as well as more expensive. It all ends in the same place...a quality shave. Enjoyment is the key ingredient! It is very warm here in Northeastern Kansas at 32° C. I need to mow the lawn and the heat will be roasting. You are inspiring...maybe today will be an Arko shave. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Really nice shave Paul. Because I have some difficulty lathering the Williams Mug Soap and it dissipates rather quickly on my face, I grated it with half of an Arko shaving stick and the results are wonderful. It combines the slickness of the Williams with the creamyness of Arko. Seen it in Flash Boredom's channel and it was a good idea. That is a luxurious flower arrangement. Well done Mrs H. See you in the midweek shave. Keep happy and healthy (been missing hot & spicy/walks videos on 007vauxhall).
Hello Paul! I am having a very fine weekend thank you. I have received the RazoRock Game changer. Very very nice razor. Barber pole Handel with no blade over hang. It is now my number one razor. Your Sunday dinner sounds delicious. As always a beautiful flower display by Mrs H.
Hi Paul- Great shave today; thank you! Lovely flowers from Mrs H! Sunday dinner sounds quite nice, as always. I hope your week is off to great start and all the best
we enjoyed viewing a few of your vintage shaving presentations . our whiskers are heavy like the men who worked the klondike. we use a 2 piece merkur razor about 25 yrs old and new merkur double edge razors , we are seniors and let our whiskers go for a week then shave , we get a close comfortable shave . gillette co. yrs ago made a blue blade , but they dont make them now ,and vintage blades new in box command high prices. we only shave the old school ways . oh by the way we enjoyed hearinf your culinary menus we enjoy them too. cheers and fair thee well . ; ]
Great shave, Paul. I will have to try the Arko soap. My skin burns with some of the artisan soaps I've tried. The Van Der Hagen soap works the best for my skin so far as I've only been shaving this way about 7 months now. It's been in the low to mid 80'sF here in Pennsylvania!
Gr8 shave as always Paul 💈 Arko a favourite with Gavin too. A basic you can always go back to 👍 Relaxing weekend here 👍 Gavin send his regards. My Toms are so delicious as you said on the H & S you cannot beat homegrown. Hope u enjoy Lashento's chicken for us 👍 Flowers lovey as always 🌻 Its gr8 hearing what you do! Enjoy the rest of your weekend both 💈👍🌻💈
Good shave Paul!! In my part of the world, it was 92 degrees with 90 percent humidity. But I have a pool, so my family was able to keep cool in the heat. I ended the day with a nice Cryogen shave with my Rockwell 6c and Nacet blade. For my Sunday, I'm planning to smoke a leg of lamb for the family, and help the Mrs with her veggie garden. Cheers from Florida!!!!
Hi Paul.. Great shave, great flowers, thank you Mrs H, great banter. Very entertaining video my friend. Love the Arko stuff. Shave today is, Edwin Jagger DE89, Polsilver blade, King of shaves mint pre shave oil, TOBS Peppermint cream, my own Eucalyptus which hazel, Nivea cooling post shave balm, and hopefully not the styptic pen. And lastly Davidoff Coolwater aftershave. Have a great week ahead to you both. See you soon take care:-)
Snap with the razor and aftershave balm, is that DE89 a recent model. I have compared it to the slightly older model and seems a little more aggressive now? Perfect all rounder
Hi Sam. Yes I agree the latest model is a little more aggressive, I have both model's .My shave was a great combo with great results. Happy shaving my friend :-)
Hi Paul, Wednesdays shave will be Gillette Slim Twist, Feather blade, Lea shave cream, Mr Alum, Arko sensitive post shave, Yaqi barber pole 24 mm tuxedo knot. Aftershave is up to the Wife. Hope you are well my friend, take care:-)
I finally tried Palmolive classic shave cream. Loved the scent lathered up nice had one of the best shaves so far with it. and you cant beat the price my only mistake was not buying 3 tubes. Thanks for the videos.
Old school goodness Paul👍 I rather like Arko, use it to break in my natural hair brushes too. Personna reds are one of my favorite blades. Mrs H made the Sun shine today, beautiful. Thanks. Great shave💈💈 and video again. Always fun. Enjoy!
Keeping it real and down to earth, PaulHFilms, I like it. Feels strange to be able to say that you might well be hotter in Wales today than we are in Chiang Mai: rain and 24c, we're freezing!
Sir Paul! I'm going to give ARKO one more chance, because of you're video & the lather you stirred-up looks excellent... I'll keep you posted homie😇😊... The sunflowers are gorgeous, kudos to Mrs.H... Thank you for sharing this Sunday.. David
I have the same razor, but it's branded Gillette. It is my late father's razor that he bought back in the late 80's, when the thread on he's old ball end Tech broke. I love that razor. Simple, efficient, and will last forever with some basic care. Great shave. Hoping to see today's sunday dinner video. Last one was mouth watering :)
You're a great man Paul and another great video well done! I had a fairly simple shave too, wet the face first, tepid water! Then TOBS peppermint cream, then a cold rinse, then a splash of Woody's aftershave, then a dab of TOBS dry skin cream (very similar to Nivea) and now off to start my Sunday lunch! Roast Belly pork, carrots broccoli roast taters and lashento's of that lovely brown stuff! 😀👍 enjoy yours!
Great shave there Paul. Boots own DE razor, wow, there's a blast from the past for me. It was my very first DE razor, the one I learnt with. That was about 15 years ago now. Shame their no longer available I'd have liked to have picked one up again for old times sake. 😊 👍 👍 👍
I’m doing all right Paul thanks for asking. I have a couple Palmolive sticks thanks to you, I really enjoy them. At the same time I got a Arko stick, I’m not as big a fan of that one do to smell mainly. I Just got my first Taylor of old bond street cream today as well as a Merkur slant (the larger one) and both are lovely. My first was a de89 also thanks to you. I plan to get a derby stick. It’s nice here in California. From across the pond, I hope you and the misses have a wonderful week. -Slick.
Glad your enjoying Palmolive, great soap and scent isn't it. Arko is a bit you either like the scent or hate it.....you could add in another soap or cream to Arko to change the scent , just a thought. Hope you have many great shaves to come, all the best and thanks :-)
Hi Paul. Use Arko regularly. Scent is fine with me and very inexpensive. Getting some relief in the temperatures here in the midlands usa. Last week we were really cooking. People kept telling me to go soak my head. They were concerned …..I guess. Anyway nice shave pal.👍
Hi Paul, I received the Aloe Vera Soap from Sue z Bana after your review on her products. Superb lather, it's like a Croap. Scent free. If her other soaps are like that then it's a winner. Steve in Fife.
Nice shave Paul, it’s always good to put the fancy pants stuff away occasionally, you might have convinced me to use the old £2 shavette tonight. Cook-alonga-Paul this evening. 😌👍 Beautiful flowers LH 😌💐
Great shave Paul! That Arko soap looks lovely, I have never tried it. What is the scent like? I recently tried some Clubman Pinaud soap after watching one of your videos and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for the videos, I look forward to them!
The scent of Arko can best be described as like a urinal block (the scent of the strange blue or yellow block often found in a urinal). Some like it, some do not, I can take it or leave it, but the soap does work well..
Hey Paul ! Had a couple of questions 1. I am using a Parker 96R and love it. Any other mild/medium aggressive razor I should look into? 2. I currently use barbasol smoothie aloe, I find that it gives me a much smoother irritation free shave. 3. I have TOBS grapefruit. And I find that it pulls on the razor and is not as slick as the barbasol I could be wrong any tips ? 4. Any other soaps out there you would recommend? I’m looking into purchasing col conk & the blades Grim Thank you!
here just a bit warm due to humidly nice video oh the Arko after Shave you use i cant find on E-bay many other after shaves there is a green refreshing one its great now i cant find the splash of that one only balm the blue gold and some black i can find in both splash and balm soon when you´re out of EU i cant get it well i can but it will be more expensice
Hi Paul, would you be able to show how you record your shave videos? It could inspire people like myself who would like to start filming their shaves. Thank you
Great vid again man! About the weather, probably about 5 degrees more as where you are ;) If you want to try a LHD car. Or a car with the steering wheel at the correct side as the rest of the world calls it you can always come to Belgium and try one of mine :)
Hi Paul, Neat shave ... I have yet to try a shaving 'stick' but I do have the 'Gillette' plastic handle razor, bought here in china and very very cheap online. I find it holds the blade much flatter than say an EJ DE 89 so I adjust the 'angle of attack' when I use it and find it just as mildly aggressive as the EJ. I just find that it's very light so can't really use the weight of the razor to do the work. Just my two penneth ... Like watching your vids though, always informative. Thanks.
Great video, beautiful arrangment by Mrs.H. when your done using the scuttle that has arko do you turn it over to dry or how do you take the extra lather out?
Another great shave Paul, interesting shaving combo, and to see what Boots DE razor was like. Always an enjoyable start to the day, thanks for the upload. I have been looking for the Gillette one that Asda started selling but looks as though they have stopped selling it? Today I'm using Feather blade, EJ aloe soap, and the Edwin Jagger DE89 knurled handle, and I'm sure that they have modified the design, seems slightly more aggressive that the model from a few years back! Have a great day
@@PaulHFilms I think it was the new one they released in the last year, was it the classic? I remember you featured it a little while back but think you also found it in Tesco? I went to buy it a little while back and now it's gone so assume it's been discontinued? Look forward to the mid week shave, have a great day
Love your vids, Paul, thank you! I do have a shave issue which I hope you can help with; I'm having awful shaves lately, I've been blooming my soap with lashento's of gravy and it's not working but after the shave the dog won't leave my face alone. What am I doing wrong? Should I try a different blade or soap? All the best to you and to Mrs.H
Hi Paul I watch your videos all the time there very good and insightful with lots of good info and tips, so I seen this recently and thought I'd try one there actually very good for a cheap razor mine came with a pack of lazor blades which to be honest aren't bad, it's like a medium aggression and shaves well in my opinion. I also have a merkur 39c straight blade and a wilkinson sword classic all metal and another cheap de razor which isn't too bad. Do you have any ideas of what I could use as I have sensitive skin especially on neck and moustache area I'm still new to these razors which I've only been using a few months and already got the addiction to them as there loads better than cartridge razors. Keep up the great videos and love your love and respect and what your cooking. Sorry for rambling on. regards jason from doncaster
Great shave as always Paul. Doing a “Leatherface” challenge with a friend today. Slim Adjustable on 9 with a new Feather. We’ll see how it goes 😂. Cheers 👍🏻💈
I've always thought that you guys have the steering on the right side for a vehicle, just drive on the wrong side. Like for us, when we parallel park, the drivers door opens up into traffic, where as if our steering wheel was on the right side, when we parked beside the curb, the driver would be opening his door onto a sidewalk. Just a thought.
Is the Arko aftershave balm alcohol free?? Because I’ve stopped using alcohol based products on my face and it’s really helped my skin stay slick especially in this weather ☀️🔥🔥☀️I just have a splash on the neck area if there is alcohol in it. Any suggestions for different fragrances?? A great top end alcohol free is paco rabanne one millions balm😉😉👌👌 but anyone know for another one?? Be safe everyone 👍👍🙏🏻🙏🏻
If you try a left hand drive car I bet you will have the same problem I had in England driving a right hand drive. The car drives the same but it’s a bugger learning to shift a manual gearbox with the opposite hand. I bet I about destroyed the gears in that old Ford I drove around Kent. 😄 if you try a left hand drive makes sure it’s an automatic.
In these Inflationary Times. HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT MY FRIENDs Use any hard Bar Soap, Tallow or Glycerin based Soaps out there? To fit in any Mugs or Cups? Like" (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arko Sticks. Just to name a few of them?) You can mix and match your old Soaps? Cut up the soap on a paper plate, pour your soap chunks with the shavings from the Paper Plate into a Mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave your soap. For about a minute or so? Place a paper plate under your mug in case it bubbles out of your cup? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia. It saves me time and Money. Wheelchair Larry Happy New Year. If you're Jay Leno ? disregard? Mileage may vary?

Very good one Paul, thanks! Do you plan a vacation soon?
Thank you, no vacation planned, but a couple of weeks of work next month :-)
Great shave as always Paul. Doing a “Leatherface” challenge with a friend today. Slim Adjustable on 9 with a new Feather. We’ll see how it goes 😂. Cheers 👍🏻💈
Just a question did Boots make DE blades as well?
That lather looked good. How big is the knot of this brush? Have a nice Sunday!
Thanks, it is a 26mm knot :-)
Using the Muhle R41 with the Muhle blade, Maca root shave cream, Semogue 1250, Ricardo Cavalli Uomo aftershave balm
Nice products :-)
I've always thought that you guys have the steering on the right side for a vehicle, just drive on the wrong side. Like for us, when we parallel park, the drivers door opens up into traffic, where as if our steering wheel was on the right side, when we parked beside the curb, the driver would be opening his door onto a sidewalk. Just a thought.
Where do you buy thayers toner in the uk? Do you have to buy it on line?
Is the Arko aftershave balm alcohol free?? Because I’ve stopped using alcohol based products on my face and it’s really helped my skin stay slick especially in this weather ☀️🔥🔥☀️I just have a splash on the neck area if there is alcohol in it. Any suggestions for different fragrances?? A great top end alcohol free is paco rabanne one millions balm😉😉👌👌 but anyone know for another one?? Be safe everyone 👍👍🙏🏻🙏🏻
The Arko Extra Sensitive is alcohol free, but the others do contain it....many thanks . :-)

Paul, have you ever empty a tub of shave soap.
Yes, more so years ago when I had only a few soaps, so used them quicker, it takes me much longer these days John.....many thanks :-)
This razor is very similiar to russian Rapira razor. This razor is very agressive.
I have tried the Rapira blades, not the razor, like your channel picture :-)
@@PaulHFilms thanks.
Extremely Humid And Hot 🥵 Here .... Can’t Wait For Fall To Get Here !!
Pick Up Time!
Be strange turning left across traffic
Razor is exactly similar to 7’o clock sterling.....
It is yes, almost identical :-)
108 Fahrenheit here … or 42c for you
Stay cool Rob....many thanks :-)
First again!
Amazing!😂
Again, you must try a lottery ticket Cincy.....you never know ;-) many thanks :-)
That razor looks the “Gillette 7 o’clock” sold by Gillette in India. Usually costs somewhere around ₹100 here!
