i grew up in one one of these type of houses when i was in the Philippines, its so weird seeing your house become a tourist spot when these type of houses were considered low income just a few decades ago.

It would definitely be better if all buildings were like this in PH so that we have our own architecture and identity that may attract a lot of filipino so that we dont need to travel for a good view like in europe
We used to have that, but many have become casualties of World War 2. Those who survived were eventually abandoned and occupied by illegal settlers.

Most of the houses were from Manila. The whole plan was to restore the historical houses left in Manila after the bombings of WWII (which the city neglected and failed to restore until the man who set this place up took each of them brick by brick over the years in attempts to recreate what Manila would have looked like back in its golden age).
It isn’t known a lot mostly due to how expensive it can be for most locals

My parents said that after wwii, not every historic house was bombed, but after the war, the people's taste changed and they tore down a lot of the Bahay-Na-Bato houses common during the Spanish era and replaced them with American style homes. It may be true because when I returned to the Visayas, some of the old homes I saw as a child were no longer there. Some became parking lots or street extensions. In other places, the homes got converted to the houses typical in North America's suburbs. So sad.

The issue with this is that it's literally a resort for fucking rich people in the middle ot Bataan. I respect the efforts made to preserve the history but I still don't exactly like the preservation of history in this country. Evne if this place isn't exactly in their origianl locations which is already sad in general, this place should be in Manila, Cebu, Vigan with it's current state with history, or somewhere where locals and travelers can fucking pack. If this place was in Manila it would attract so much more people.
I know it's hard and things aren't simple but the country for some reason is scared or too selfish to put some effort in not just preserving history, but making the citiies nicer. They already steal money and amke their fucking POS SM malls and condos, they at least should give people something better than things that don't even look good and make our country worse.
And there ar emore important things like poverty, opportunities, shitty overpopulation and pollution in cities as well and throughout the country. I appreicate this and it actually does look nice, it's just pretentious and still annoying that it's just a fucking made up resort. The places deserves to be somewhere in Manila at least where people would pack the place.
I just think it's dissapointing cause the city used to look great and the country had YEARS to do thi but theyn just don't do enough for me. Life isn't simple but I just believe you should care for your hisotry more. Lastly, I'm not trying to be colonial worshiper btw since I feel people think that of people who want to rpeserve this history. A lot of people just love those old buildings which was a part of us and tbh it is also very filipino since the Bahay na Bato is actually filipino/asian/spanish design it. Even if you can't replicate everything just try to emulate that feel in the cities. They had a chance but instead made this a resort and rather build that stupud ass Venice mall in Manila. They could've easily put this resort over that Venice Mall, it's fucking stupid as fuck.

Middle class city people back in the days live in townhouses called "accesorias", same designs as these mansions but ofcourse less intricate interiors.
