I'll relent on 2 things. I missed 2 of Malfurions feats of strengths that should have put him higher (holding up an island in some alliance quest I never did and fighting off Archimonde in one of the few books I didn't read). And also Thrall being high on the list for having the dragon soul that one time and holding back Jaina's tidal wave. Both strong things but not super flashy or satisfying to see as feats of strength. Everything else is spot on.
Well maybe specify next time that its only playable faction leaders, cuz there are plenty non playable faction leaders who would 1 shot this whole list xD
Ive been saying that Velen is the big dick since burning crusade, but Garrosh with his borrowed power cannot be compared. Ive always been saying that Velen is the most powerful because he can see the future etc. (not even considering his individual powers).
I'd put Tyrande higher than Jaina since when the mawsworn Kyrians kidnapped the faction leaders the only one who fought them off was Tyrande. Jaina failed.
There is no such thing as trash mobs, elite mobs or bosses in lore either If a lvl 10 defias comes and stabs Jaina she will die it does not matter that she is a lvl 120 elite boss

Rasguer It really depends on the fantasy setting you’re talking about as to whether it should be “realistic.” It’s all about internal consistency, and if that means main characters don’t die to minor characters that’s fine. It might not be the kind of story you like, but it’s not a bad story. The problem with some WoW lore is that there isn’t always a lot of internal consistency imo

Also by my understanding to even use the dragon soul he had the channel the full power of the aspect of Earth, putting him at least on par with all the other Dragon Aspects. Which I don't think it should be surprising anyone to say that at least Ysera should be able to beat malfurion since she is the literal source of his power.
From what i saw its just Asmons grasp on lore is very much bound to what Blizzard actually shows. As their shit writing often just forgets abilities or powers to futher their ends of the story they want to tell. I like to use Vol'jin as an example because ingame we see him just throw out spells like "Big bad voodoo" That turn all allies immune to any damage. But never use it again. He forgot his armor he ususlly uses before any battle that could have done alot sgainst being stabbed. Never used his martial arts training and reactions as hed just kick that felguard across the field instead of being stabbed etc. He is also best friends with Bwonsamdi. Nobody else we meet is that closd with him that he does personal favors with no personal bemefit like raising Vol'jins human friend. Im sure hed grand his actual champion some power even. But no. I actually agree that Arthas is a faction leader of the undead, and that Illidan is a faction leader of the demon hunters so they should technically be on the list if Bolvar is, which could also mean the guardians could be a sort of faction leader of dalaran

The video was about leaders of races the players are a part of. Even if Arthas is the leader of the DKs and Illidan the leader of the DHs during their respective starting zones, they aren't a real faction. And eventually players join the alliance and horde.

The best time In this game was when Garrosh and Varian were leaders of those respected factions. As a horde player, you’ll never understand the respect we had for Varian Wrynn, his ferocity could only be meet with the same level, I feel that not only did Garrosh make us feel like real Horde, but could match Varian level of intensity.
I read Wolf heart when no one had heard of it yet. Another good one is Garrosh trial after MOP. I think back that feeling I use to have thinking one day we would see them face off again. Admit it, we all felt more blood thirsty then, than we do now. I miss both of them.

I mean that's true but some of these rankings are egregious. Having Thrall above Malfurion and Tyrannde just makes no sense. So what if Thrall was more powerful for like literally a day, those 2 kick Thrall's ass any other day of the year.
It's also very hard to rank characters in any kind of fantasy setting like this (or lets say Marvel or DC cause WoW faction leaders are like superheroes), cause there's SOOOO MANY factors that can play in. If we're truly speaking from a storytelling perspective, then you have so many secondary conditions that are impossible to really consider. All these characters got advantages and disadvantages, certain conditions could've happened we aren't aware of, and ofcourse that unless it's a strictly storytelling game, then these power-up are displayed to the writers convenience a lot of the time. One thing I can agree on is that certain characters can be places within a certain tier and you can rank them together above or below other characters, but it's very very hard to get an accurate solid tier list, it's very subjective and up to opinion. An example is the Malfurion, Tyrande, Thrall and Jaina part can be argued for days whether who's where, and whilst you might come to a consensus I think it's better just to say that these characters are on the same tier, but then even that can be argued like tierlists in a MOBA. Certain characters here will likely defeat the other more times than not, but I feel there's a more equal chance of the tables flipping depending on certain conditions, and there always will be, no duel is really completely fair unless its two fighters are using the same exact tools and ways to fight against eachother, which is clearly not the case with different species with different traits, magic, magical artifacts and other things such as some are ancient immortals and others normal humans. And then not to mention some aren't exactly 1v1 duelists, Velen is super powerful but he's not exactly a figher and his Light abilities are mostly just that powerful cause it's used against demons that are weak to it. He'd be strong against Bolvar or Sylvanas since they are undead and the Light is very effective against them, but he wouldn't have the same potency against Jaina or Malfurion.

not enough respect is being put on bolvar’s name. Bolvar used to be leader of the alliance, had enough willpower to resist the lichking which hasnt been done by anyone but him and then the helm of domination is broken af but still not arthas levels of broken because no frostmourne. Also bolvar was def a better paladin than arthas he was ranked highlord while arthas was in training. Not to mention the other comments saying scarlet crusade is weak when whitemane is one of the most broken humans in wow. Bolvar is nowhere near his power level If it’s faction leaders not restricted by being one currently (bolvar) shouldn’t Azshara be there?
Malfurion ranked 8 is a joke. Even during the war of the ancient he already had insane powers capable of whiping out a whole battlefield of warriors and demons (as when he thought he had lost Tyrande, he cast a storm that threatened to kill everyone, soldiers of Azeroth and demons comprised, without effort in his sorrow state). And that was before he went into druid rest for 10k years that made him even stronger... The guy who made this list has no idea what he's doing.
on Thrall: if the shaman gets the "approval" from the nature spirits, he can do literally anything. the only catch is, he could ask and the spirits might say 'no'
You need to decide when borrowed power is considered the character;s power or not. Thrall borrowing the dragon soul for a patch, Bolvar witht he help of damnation for several patches and Sylvanas getting an amp from the Jailor for several patches.

Malfurion is arguably #1 or at least #2 (after Velen AT WORST), Lillian Voss is at #893 where a literal WHO like her belongs, Varian Wrynn makes the top 10, Garrosh is probably around 8 or 9 with Wrynn, Thrall is either #10 or literally doesn't make the list because Dragon Soul != Thrall... the whole list is clusterfuck.
I vaguely remember Kil'jaeden saying Velen is more powerful than himself/Archimonde- Probably prior to demon corruption empowerment, but still a massive testament to Velens power. Especially being able to purify a Naaru himself.
The thing with power scaling in WoW is that it's a world where almost EVERYBODY is a glass cannon. Just like in the real world technically, a human with a gun can deal massive damage, but being able to perforate a concrete wall with a single shot doesn't mean they are physically stronger than a concrete wall. They depend too much on magic, armor and weapons. I'd say monks are the only ones that go against this just a bit, being able to not only infuse their own bodies with their own inherent life energy, but they train their bodies to be physically able to withstand massive blows even when off-guard, but still, a character that could probably nuke an entire city can still get killed if someone MANAGED to cut their throats. Of course, managing to do it would still take considerable effort, but it's POSSIBLE. This is why both Horde and Alliance still use normal assassins against powerful people, because of that small chance they work. Hell, not even dragons are except from this, if they are caught in their mortal forms, unlike with their scaly forms, their skin and internal organs are just as easy to be perforated by a sharp stone as any other human or elf, and just as easy to die from it. The thing is that, lorewise, if they look like a sword would be able to cut through them, it probably would, not always, but definitely in most cases.
Can you do a power ranking list with every named character in wow? like not the generic npc's with names, or even all quest givers or whatever, but all characters that are named and have notable power?
Dimensional travel? Introduce a good version of Garrosh where he leads an assault against perhaps a bad Thrall or some other character? Though, that sounds a bit like kids show.
If you'll take the time to look at his videos, you'll notice that he has a very strong Horde bias. Kinda like how Asmon is super biased towards Alliance characters. It's so hard to find an objective youtuber when it comes to WoW lore...

Arthas' power came from merging with Nerzhul. And Nerzhul's power came from being a shaman and then when he was transformed by Kil'jaeden he became even more powerful.

Azshara one shots you in the raid if you taunt her. She's literally making the Heart of Azeroth user struggle and almost die countless times without using her full power, she's using a lot of concentration to channel the Heart's power into the lock as you stand on her runes, AND hold off everyone attacking her.

I'm pretty sure Druidism was developed to be a straight counter to mages (they use arcane magic too, but they aren't MAGES). Why I say this? Because that's the people they were against after the debacle with the demons, and well, druidism and Elune's magic won.
Actually NE can really do better than what blizzard did to them when they are introduced in “WOW.” They got nerfed so bad in the franchise which makes them less interesting, but in Warcraft 3 they were one of the badass races, characters and also given their history in the lore with some of their achievements. Blizzard made them really look weak with the “Faction” powers thing and it just gotten worse for them. Tyrande and Malfurion are surely familiar with arcane magic and don’t underestimate their powers coz they are truly powerful in lore and they have way more experiences in fighting than any faction leaders, even Grommash himself was once impressed of NE’s martial prowess or savagery in fighting.
The list put WAAAAAY too much weight in "feats if strength". It's like saying "God is theoretically powerful, but we've never seen him in a wrestling ring so we're ranking an MMA fighter higher."

MMO gameplay and MMO lore are two separate things. In gameplay a mob can be super bad but in lore they can be extremely powerful.

It's also very hard to rank characters in any kind of fantasy setting like this (or lets say Marvel or DC cause WoW faction leaders are like superheroes), cause there's SOOOO MANY factors that can play in. If we're truly speaking from a storytelling perspective, then you have so many secondary conditions that are impossible to really consider. All these characters got advantages and disadvantages, certain conditions could've happened we aren't aware of, and ofcourse that unless it's a strictly storytelling game, then these power-up are displayed to the writers convenience a lot of the time.
One thing I can agree on is that certain characters can be places within a certain tier and you can rank them together above or below other characters, but it's very very hard to get an accurate solid tier list, it's very subjective and up to opinion. An example is the Malfurion, Tyrande, Thrall and Jaina part can be argued for days whether who's where, and whilst you might come to a consensus I think it's better just to say that these characters are on the same tier, but then even that can be argued like tierlists in a MOBA.
Certain characters here will likely defeat the other more times than not, but I feel there's a more equal chance of the tables flipping depending on certain conditions, and there always will be, no duel is really completely fair unless its two fighters are using the same exact tools and ways to fight against eachother, which is clearly not the case with different species with different traits, magic, magical artifacts and other things such as some are ancient immortals and others normal humans.
And then not to mention some aren't exactly 1v1 duelists, Velen is super powerful but he's not exactly a figher and his Light abilities are mostly just that powerful cause it's used against demons that are weak to it. He'd be strong against Bolvar or Sylvanas since they are undead and the Light is very effective against them, but he wouldn't have the same potency against Jaina or Malfurion.

Another thing to note is Varian was brought down by trash with Gul'Dan stealing the kill, when at that point, every trash mob could have cleaved his head off in an instant.

not enough respect is being put on bolvar’s name. Bolvar used to be leader of the alliance, had enough willpower to resist the lichking which hasnt been done by anyone but him and then the helm of domination is broken af but still not arthas levels of broken because no frostmourne. Also bolvar was def a better paladin than arthas he was ranked highlord while arthas was in training. Not to mention the other comments saying scarlet crusade is weak when whitemane is one of the most broken humans in wow. Whitemane can canonically revive herself after dying the only way we could kill her was with a certain blade which blocked her revive out and even then she became a dk after

Even during the war of the ancient he already had insane powers capable of whiping out a whole battlefield of warriors and demons (as when he thought he had lost Tyrande, he cast a storm that threatened to kill everyone, soldiers of Azeroth and demons comprised, without effort in his sorrow state).
And that was before he went into druid rest for 10k years that made him even stronger...

You need to decide when borrowed power is considered the character;s power or not. Thrall borrowing the dragon soul for a patch, Bolvar witht he help of damnation for several patches and Sylvanas getting an amp from the Jailor for several patches.

Malfurion is arguably #1 or at least #2 (after Velen AT WORST), Lillian Voss is at #893 where a literal WHO like her belongs, Varian Wrynn makes the top 10, Garrosh is probably around 8 or 9 with Wrynn, Thrall is either #10 or literally doesn't make the list because Dragon Soul != Thrall... the whole list is clusterfuck.

I vaguely remember Kil'jaeden saying Velen is more powerful than himself/Archimonde- Probably prior to demon corruption empowerment, but still a massive testament to Velens power. Especially being able to purify a Naaru himself.
The thing with power scaling in WoW is that it's a world where almost EVERYBODY is a glass cannon. Just like in the real world technically, a human with a gun can deal massive damage, but being able to perforate a concrete wall with a single shot doesn't mean they are physically stronger than a concrete wall. They depend too much on magic, armor and weapons. I'd say monks are the only ones that go against this just a bit, being able to not only infuse their own bodies with their own inherent life energy, but they train their bodies to be physically able to withstand massive blows even when off-guard, but still, a character that could probably nuke an entire city can still get killed if someone MANAGED to cut their throats. Of course, managing to do it would still take considerable effort, but it's POSSIBLE. This is why both Horde and Alliance still use normal assassins against powerful people, because of that small chance they work.
Hell, not even dragons are except from this, if they are caught in their mortal forms, unlike with their scaly forms, their skin and internal organs are just as easy to be perforated by a sharp stone as any other human or elf, and just as easy to die from it. The thing is that, lorewise, if they look like a sword would be able to cut through them, it probably would, not always, but definitely in most cases.

Velen is a bitch and does little to nothing, and we see NO power from him at all. Azshara is the most powerful faction leader alive. You know how this guy says "super powerful" adventurers? Azshara one shots you in the raid if you taunt her. She's literally making the Heart of Azeroth user struggle and almost die countless times without using her full power, she's using a lot of concentration to channel the Heart's power into the lock as you stand on her runes, AND hold off everyone attacking her.

I'm pretty sure Druidism was developed to be a straight counter to mages (they use arcane magic too, but they aren't MAGES). Why I say this? Because that's the people they were against after the debacle with the demons, and well, druidism and Elune's magic won.
Actually NE can really do better than what blizzard did to them when they are introduced in “WOW.” They got nerfed so bad in the franchise which makes them less interesting, but in Warcraft 3 they were one of the badass races, characters and also given their history in the lore with some of their achievements. Blizzard made them really look weak with the “Faction” powers thing and it just gotten worse for them.
Tyrande and Malfurion are surely familiar with arcane magic and don’t underestimate their powers coz they are truly powerful in lore and they have way more experiences in fighting than any faction leaders, even Grommash himself was once impressed of NE’s martial prowess or savagery in fighting.
The list put WAAAAAY too much weight in "feats if strength". It's like saying "God is theoretically powerful, but we've never seen him in a wrestling ring so we're ranking an MMA fighter higher."
