Sharon is not quoted in this interview. Jake admitted he was always late. Ask anyone in a one of your local bands just how much it pisses people off when someone is “always” late for things.
That got Ace Freely kicked out of Kiss, and Vince got kicked out of Motley Crue for that. ..... How Guns N’ Roses lasted as long as they did is the 8th wonder of the world. In the end, it’s ultimately one of the pillar stones that caused the complete destruction of that band.
Look at how pissed off Eddie Van Halen got at Sammy Hagar for not wanting to work on that stupid song for that movie soundtrack when Sammy told them in advance he needed time off so he could be there for his wife who was about to give birth to his child.
I hear you about Sharon, but that may not be the full issue there.
I hate to say this, but this is a fact, American women back then, and to this day are prejudiced against Asian men. Americans in general were prejudiced against Asians.
Perhaps Sharon and others saw Jake’s ethnicity as something that would hurt Ozzy after a few years, as most bands drop off in popularity after their 3rd album.
Perhaps Sharon and crew decided to preempt Jake’s 3rd Album with Ozzy by cutting him loose after album #2 with him.
I’m not trying to toss the race card out there, becaues it is a fact, some races simply do not like each other. All the cultural marxist woke culture social conditioning will NEVER change this about human nature.
If there was any truth to this, you really think the Ozzy camp would ever admit this? ... not in a million years.
It is a fact, when Ozzy was looking for replacements for the deceased Randy Rhoads, he wanted more from his new guitarist than talent, but they had to look cool. They rejected George Lynch because he had short hair at the time he auditioned. ... So this stuff is in their history. This is just speculation & my personal opinion.
      Not intended to demean anyone
      ....

Ozzy’s solo career wouldn’t have been shit without Bob Daisley writing most of the songs, and having Randy, Jake, and many others surrounding him. He was kicked out of Sabbath for fucking up. The Osbournes TV show really pulled the curtain back on Ozzy, and proved what most of us have known for decades; Sharon runs the show.

I don't think people give Bob much credit. 80's metal bands all sounded similar in a way with hair metal, power chords, memorable melodic solos, Verse chorus verse chorus, solo , ending.... With Ozzy, the songwriting was so much different and that it thanks to Bob. Hats off to Jake and Randy but those songs would have sounded much different if someone else wrote them. Listen to Bark at the Moon or Diary of a Madman, no one in the 80's or in that era wrote songs that sounded like them. They had that "Ozzy" sound.

JEL while Bark at the Moon was being made he was forced to give up all credits (or be fired) all the songs except Bark at the Moon with Daisley. All other songs were given over to Ozzy who did nil crafting them.
So JEL said the second time around in the studio for The Ultimate Sin he copyrighted everything beforehand, it shocked Sharon that he got a step ahead of her and did that. So that pretty much was the defining moment of his time expiring with the band. Give credit for JEL, he actually one of the only people who outsmarted Sharon for once.

I would lay odds the truth is somewhere in the middle. Jake may have started showing up late or not showing at all. But when you find out that you're getting ripped off for the royalties that you deserve, resentment is certain to build and when you don't feel appreciated for the work that you do you stop wanting to work as much. I mean the best way to get somebody to show up is to pay them consistently and pay them what they're worth. If you don't do that you can't expect them to give you 100%.

My thoughts exactly. Alot of manipulation by the Osborne camp as Lee was fighting the royalties, and Soussan was looking for a bigger songwriting role. Okay, duly noted, but whose fault is it that Jake went ahead and entered into the deal and became a member of the band without a signed, rock-solid contract first? He should have demanded a contract before anything, with proper legal representation and everything on paper beforehand, including percentage of publishing for his contributions to the songwriting. The blame rests squarely with Jake. The music business has always been ruthless and cutthroat from the very beginning and he knew that. You can't tell me he was ignorant of how many musicians were screwed over before him. He may have then not even gotten the gig, but at least it would have saved him from being royally screwed over by Sharon.

Just the fact that Randy Rhoads is, to this day, the legend that he is speaks to how monumental a task it was to replace him .. When Randy died, he was already an icon, a living legend - Randy had a huge role in resurrecting Ozzy's career, and he was a hero, so when he died, it was more than simply replacing a guitar player ... What Jake E Lee did coming in, and the first thing we hear is Bark At The Moon with that instantly iconic riff and monster lead - the guy had balls bigger than anyone .. I don't think he would have acted that way if he wasn't so drunk and high on cocaine, but he was back then much of the time. It's no excuse, but he always seems to get a pass. I've heard he headbutted band members, never paid them royalties- in fact, Jake mentioned in an interview that he was completely screwed out of royalties on Bark at the Moon, as you mentioned. Still, if he's not showing up for rehearsal, he should have expected to lose his job. I'd like to hear Jake address that question: was he missing rehearsals a lot? If so, why didn't they talk to him before it became a fire-able offense? Ozzy was notorious for not showing up to rehearsals himself. I guess it pays to be king. The Osbournes seem pretty cutthroat. the song shot in the dark THE HE!!!! WROTE!!. well i dont know the story who actually wrote it but its interesting!!. was it Overland brothers or was it Phill. i just trowing it out there!!
"Shot in the Dark" was originally composed sometime around 1983 by members of Wildlife, a band featuring Steve Overland, Chris Overland, Simon Kirke of Bad Company, keyboardist Mark Booty, and future Ozzy Osbourne bassist Phil Soussan. Wildlife recorded a demo version of the song that was never officially released. When Soussan joined Ozzy Osbourne's band a couple of years later, he and Osbourne then reworked the song for Ozzy Osbourne's recording and release in early 1986. As a result, there has been much debate over the proper authorship of the song. Although the writing is credited to Soussan and Osbourne, some question whether other members of Wildlife (the Overland brothers, in particular) deserve writing credit for Osbourne's rendition, and what Osbourne's exact role was in the rewriting proces

One other thought - I only saw Ozzy solo once in 1989 with Wylde. Had a great time. But could not help feeling a huge void like “wow it’s all over …. Jake should be up there.” Yeah No More Tears was a big album but let’s face it he was toast. All downhill from there.
I also seem to remember Wylde confronted a fan and may have even jumped off the stage into the pit. He was a total dufus I thought. It just didn’t work for me.
Jake had a flashy yet controlled vibe, it was unique as hell - was half Japanese and all that. It was just totally cool. It worked on all levels. Y'know, geniuses are notoriously bad at living up to the expectations of others. If you're gonna work with a genius, you're gonna have to allow them a little leeway in their behavior. Jake was better off leaving Ozzy anyway, but it's a damn shame what happened with Badlands. That was some of the best music Jake ever produced. That band was his baby, and they could've been huge if not for Atlantic Records throwing the remaining band members under the bus after Ray Gillen's death. Talk about a travesty of justice. How does hurting the living punish the dead anyway? It's no wonder Jake went full-on recluse for a while after that. I just hope he's living a happy life now with his (relatively) new wife and his daughter -- the poor sod deserves some earthly reward for all his troubles.

Any one who’s ever been in even just a local garage band will tell you is one fast way to piss off the entire band & turn everyone against you is to be late for rehersal all the time. How the hell Guns N’ Roses stayed together as long as they did is literally a miracle.
One of the biggest complaints the Motley Crue guys had against Vince was he was always late or a no-show.
So Jake admitted that he was always late for things. Doesn’t mean his side of the story didn’t have anything to do with it.
Seems to me that the Ozzy mgmt staff would’ve given him at least some kind of notice that he was in breach of contract to give him a chance to fix the problem. Seems kind of underhanded to let someone be late all the time, and never have a serious conversation with them about it.

Phil saying "if anyone thinks I had the power to influence Sharon" and thats the "firing back", really ... he didn't need to convince Sharon, all he needed to do is get in Ozzy's ear and a paranoid easily influenced Ozzy would get worked up and then get Sharon involved. Lets not forget that Phil was in the band for 1 album and Tour and wrote the grand total of ONE song on the ultimate sin ... Jake and Bob wrote the rest ..
