    Maybe you have the ability to sense the opposite of a magnet

    • @yaksher
      @yaksher 6 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      That's called being able to sense a magnet and misinterpreting your senses. He knows when _something_ is passing and there's a bunch of things like sound, wind, etc. that he can latch onto that will prevent him from differentiating nothing from magnet-which parts are because of a magnet and which are just because something's moving near him-which can lead to confusion.

    • @t.c.bramblett617
      @t.c.bramblett617 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maybe lol... If that were true though there would be a clear opposite trend... as it is, the results are consistent with random results. Of course, what is really needed is a much larger sample size, maybe 10,000 trials divided among several different people :)

      Wife: "Yes, Your Honor, it was completely my deceased husband's ill-conceived idea to have me pass an unsecured 10 pound weight around and round his head numerous times until my hands became sweaty and fatigued and that's when the heavy wight slipped from my grasp and most regrettably crushed his skull. And my only solace now that I am a poor bereaved widow is in the merciful fact that he died instantly."
      Judge: And the million dollar life insurance policy that you conveniently took out on your husband just that morning...was that too just an accident?
      Wife: "No, not really, Your Honor. My husband had been experimenting with the effects that a strong magnet might have on his brain...and he told me he had had a very vivid premonition that his demise was immanent and he wanted to see that my financial future was secure. He was such a loving man and a wonderful human being...I can't believe, sniff, that he is, sniff, sniff, sniff, gone forever!"
      Judge: "Case dismissed."
      And I rest mine. Dude, what were u thinking?!

      Let them believe what they believe but, this is not a religious video and your beliefs are irrelevant and unnecessary here.
      If you think that saying there's no god is hypocrisy and insulting, then, so is the one saying there's god in a science channel where people from different cultures will see their post. Let's not forget that there are religions with no god and the post about god will be insulting to them and the person will sound a hypocrite.
      Keep belief to religious channels or prepare to get challenged.

    Up to 6:06 I’m under the impression the magnet makes the brain think “heavy” and the weight he’s just guessing.. or it’s a lack of that “heavy” feeling.
    Cause every time the magnet comes around, he says “weight” and every time the weight comes around he says “magnet”. that’s the same difference no? lol

    My husband brought home a stack of 4 N52 neodymium magnets. I wanted to see if there would be a bond with my hand in between. As soon as I put the first magnet on top of my hand, I felt it! I immediately thought about those bracelets. My brain was firing off with whats and hows. That’s how I came across this video.
    I have fibromyalgia and have a specific spot where there is always pain. I asked him to put the magnets on that spot. I was thinking it would increase blood flow or attract blood to that area. As soon as he touched me, I instinctively took in a deep breath. It didn’t stop the pain but it was very relaxing. That’s the only way I can think to describe the feeling. Just a feeling of relaxation. I started rubbing the magnets all over my body lol. It was so soothing. I tried it on my husband and he could feel it too. Afterward, we were able to stick forks to our bodies!! 😅
    I wonder if that is why you guys were able to feel the weight. Maybe the magnet created a strong enough field around you for you to be able to feel a pull from the weight

    Wow way interesting. l thought that for sure you would be able to tell when the magnet was by your head! My Grandma Lee, your ggrandma used to wear a magnet bracelet and claimed it had healing properties in it. l used to sleep on a magnet pillow and it was supposed to have healing properties in it too. Also, people say you should sleep north to south not east to west. ls there any truth to that?

    Doctors have been using magnetic pulses to treat depression for a few years now. First they direct the magnetic waves to a focused spot in the brain that forces your thumb to twitch and from there they know where they're aiming and they can use the pulses to attempt to stimulate the areas of the brain that may be malfunctioning or under developed.

    A strong magnet may in some people increase the clarity of the mind. And is noticeable when touched to the cranium.
    It also can cause one to blackout.
    Don’t try this experiment if you have some metallic clips in your brain, not a safe experiment to do.
    It will however effect the water in your body. MRI works in that way.

I just wonder how safe this is. I don't really want to permanently mess with the few brain cells I have left lol. Any advice?

    Do you have fillings or crowns? A powerful moving magnet will induce a current in crowns.
    That might be another interesting thing to investigate. Spin the magnet rapidly near the head.
    Also, your non-magnetic control should be a similar size, weight, and shape as the magnet. Even with a blindfold, you are likely aware of the different ways the two different object move the air around your head.
    With respect to iron in hemoglobin in blood, you are correct, but what might surprise people even more, is that iron in some molecular bonds becomes diamagnetic. I believe this is the case in hemoglobin.

  • @jamestry

    I think for the magnet vs weight experiment you should use a a peace of steel in place of the weight as the weight is covered in rubber or perhaps even silicone which may hold static charge which is easier to detect due to it's attraction of small hairs and perhaps some positive ions such as potassium which are on the opposite end of the spectrum of the triboelectric series compared to the negatively charged silicone

  • @matthiasbuehlmann3388

    The way birds detect the magnetic field lines is most likely via an optical effect happening in their retinas and polarized sunlight is required for it to work. So you probably don't wanna do this indoors and blindfolded but do some experiment with open eyes under clear sky.

    I have had a few MRIs of the brain. Both times I had visual effects. When you close your eyes and look at a light source you can see a solid color that is reddish-brown. I stared at that and noticed symmetrical shadowing, like ink blot tests, that continually moved. The style/type/movement of these shapes seemed to change as the sounds of the machine changed.

    Men and women do have magnetic reception, just not of the frequency of the small but strong neodymium magnet. Our magnetic reception is tuned to the "earths" field. It actually effects us in a very subtle way. Our orientation in relation to the "earths"" magnetic field affects our orientation in relation to the setting of our body clock. IE, if you sleep with your head facing north, our body clock begins to align with the "earths" day clock and we awaken when the sun comes up and start to shut down when the sun goes down. If we sleep with our head to the south, then we wake up properly after the sun goes down. All other orientations of our bodies in relation to the "earth" will change our body clocks accordingly.
    Whilst we might over ride this to some extent. We tend to be less able to comfortably follow the earth day pattern. Also, when we sleep on coil sprung beds, the coils create small magnetic fields which interfere with our bodily magnetic torus.
    Magnetic fields have frequency and this is what makes the difference between the fixed frequency of a magnet, and the rhythmic fluctuation of the "earths" fields.
