    Is everyone in the audience an idiot..? In the reenactment, the guy was controlling her diet, getting in her face, controlling her social life, demanding that she answer to his every call... All this is abuse, abuse doesn't begin and end with the physical stuff.

    The first girl started the fights by pushing him and kicking him in the stomach, she's in the wrong just like him. You don't hit or kick the people you "love", this is true for both genders.

      ***** You're a moron, as is anyone who thinks it's perfectly acceptable for a woman to hit a man she supposedly "loves". And you can bet your ass that, regardless of size, if someone hits you in the face- it HURTS. A, 80 lb girl can break a 200 lb man's nose, no problem. I've seen it done. You sound like one of the "fucktards" that use violence because you don't have the vocabulary to get a point across.

    • @crazymonkey222222222
      @crazymonkey222222222 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ***** It has nothing to do with who is stronger and who is weaker. And people really need to stop having that mind set. Look at it a different way. Look at it in a way of showing respect for the partner. If the man goes out of his way to respect you, to not hurt or harm the girl any way shape or form. Don't you think he deserves the same respect? Weather he be stronger or not? If he respects her space, she needs to respect his. I mean with your logic you are basically saying '' I am weaker and you are stronger so THEREFOR you don't deserve my respect as a partner to give you your space and not try to harm you'' It doesn't have to do with who is stronger and weaker. It has to do with respect for your partner. They are both in the wrong in this episode. Me personally I feel who ever crossed the line and took advantage of that respect first ( girl or boy) you leave them.

    • @ashleycurry8112
      @ashleycurry8112 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes!!! Because it's called REACTIVE ABUSE. Meaning when you are in a relationship and being abused you do one of two things. You either run and hide immediately turn into fight or flight response. And you take flight or you FIGHT! The reason why it's overlooked is because it's a fuckin response to him HITTING HER! Meaning that her immediate response to anger is not abuse it's a response to defend herself in the middle of it. Use common fuckin sense.

    That boy Edwin was raised in a house with physical violence and when his girlfriend hits him that can trigger a humiliation from childhood that causes rage and the fact Tyra COMPLETELY overlooks that his girlfriend does that is disgraceful. Then telling him patronisingly 'you have some heart' he's an abused child with no nourishment of love from healthy family relationships. Hope he gets the right help.

    Both people are in the wrong here, not just the guy. I hate it how they make the girl out to be the innocent angel and the guy to be the spawn of Satan when they are both clearly in the wrong. Yes, men should not hit women. But women should also not abuse and mistreat men either. If you are in a relationship, you need to have a clear line of communication between both people. Physically acting out is a clear sign that the people aren't communicating properly. But I really don't like how they blamed the guy for everything when it was clearly the fault of both people. Treat each other with respect and then you won't have this problem! It's not rocket science people!

    I don't like how Tyra was only schooling Edwin when she should be schooling BOTH of them that touching each other in a non-caring way is wrong.
    "You never put your hands on a woman. Never, never never."
    Well, duh! And she shouldn't be putting her hands on him! She never talked to the girlfriend about her behavior as much as she talked to Edwin. I don't care if he abused her more. Both of them should have been talked to because she said that they both put their hands on each other.

      Thank you.. I'm not saying she doesn't get abused but sometimes people need to shine the light on the fact that women abuse men or provoke them sometimes then when they react people wanna blame everything on the man. No one deserves to be beat nor harassed so men stop hitting women and women stop provoking and hitting men!

      @sofiatorning2021 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, but that's not the same thing, you obviously wasn't in love with your friend. And these men manipulate theese women to stay with them, and they're scared to leave them because if they do they can get seriously hurt, so you can't compare it like that

    • @KaylaNoelle1
      @KaylaNoelle1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Abusive friendships can be just as dangerous, she threatened to kill my dog or cat if I stopped talking to her, she made sure I was alienated at school and she held a lot of power over me because she was more popular. She DID try to manipulate me to stay her friend by using threats and sobbing constantly at school to make me feel bad and appear to be the guilty one. It may not seem serious to you but it was very real and very serious to me. She did attack my dog while I was camping luckily my neighbor was home to scare her away. I had no friends for months on end and she lied and told everyone I somehow split my own lip and it wasn't her. She took pictures of me changing during a sleepover and I didn't know and she'd say thinks like "If you ever stop hanging out with me your ass will be plastered all over facebook". It was the same cycle of abuse just a middle school version plus I was suicidal. so think whatever you want but it was serious to me and I DID love her like a sister, the sister I'd always wanted. I still miss her sometimes as fucked up as that is.

    • @sofiatorning2021
      @sofiatorning2021 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      KaylaNoelle1 Oh wow, ok well i didn't know that cause all you said was that she slapped you in the face, and that isn't as serious as theese womens situations, if you would have told your whole story from the beginning i would have understood. I'm sorry for your waste of time with this "friend" she seems like she need some serious help!

    When I was 13 my first relationship became abusive. I told my parents but because my father is a big name in the small town where we lived, they didn't want the word to get out that their perfect little princess daughter had anything but the perfect life, (my father was the mayor and on the Board of Education, ironic I know), so my parents ignored it and hoped it would go away. You have to understand that my family didn't care what happened behind closed doors, it was only important what the neighbors thought. I ended up running away, falling into a really bad crowd and swallowing my pain with alcohol and pills. I got married at 18 to a guy I barely knew so I could get a roof over my head. My husband cheated and started being abusive after less than a year of marriage. I ended up divorcing him, back on the street. I ended up striping at a club just to put food in my mouth. And in all of the places to find hope, you'd think that a strip club would be the LAST place you'd find it. One day a young man walked in pushing an older man in a wheelchair. I went over to talk to them, as we were expected to. The older man was a pervy old coot but the younger guy, his caregiver, avoided looking at the stage, when the girls would dance he'd turn his chair to face away so he could see. That young caregiver and his patient initially started coming there only because the old man wanted to come but as the caregiver and I talked more we forged a true friendship and as his client sat there ogling the girls, the young caregiver and I would sit in the corner talking about life, all the things I had been through, what authors we liked, etc. etc. He eventually helped me get another job to get me out of the club, he said "The first time I met you, I knew you were different. You were dancing because of pain, because you felt worthless. But I knew you were just hurting and needed someone to show you that you were worth it." That caregiver and I were friends for a long time, I tried him, I put that man through some serious grief and tested him to make sure he wasn't like all the rest. After a year and a half of being out of the club, I finally said yes to marrying him. Sometimes like works in mysterious ways and you find love when you least expect it. After 3 years of marriage wouldn't you know it, I was diagnosed with a rare connective tissue disease and became bed bound. It was at if God knew I'd need a caregiver and so he sent me one when my life seemed hopeless. Brian has loved me through every second of this debilitating disease. We've been married now for five years, two of which I've been stuck in this bed...and yet he still stays, takes me to every doctor's appointment, cleans the house, feeds me but most importantly he loves me just as much as the day he married me, regardless of the illness. I never could have asked for a better husband, ever. He loves me through the physical pain now, just as he loved me through the mental pain years ago. There's still times I feel like I don't deserve him because of my past but he reminds me what he told me a long time ago, that I am worth it.

    • @DiagnosisCountdown
      @DiagnosisCountdown 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sidra Hossain Thanks for your kindness. :) Upon going back and reading over my original post, I realized that I never explain the prognosis of my illness. I will unfortunately most likely continue to be bed bound for the rest of my life. My illness has a very slow progression so we are hopeful that I will live to my 40s or 50s (I'm 29 at the moment) but my disease tends to effect everyone who has it a little differently, so some people who have it can live fairly normally until they're older, while others, like myself, become completely disabled in their 20s. The disease is called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Hypermobility Type with Vascular Crossover. Essentially it causes the "glue" in my body's cells to be too stretchy, so it makes everything in my body to become too stretchy including my skin, blood vessels, organs, pretty much everything. Where this becomes very dangerous is in the blood vessels. Because my vessels are so stretchy, it makes them weak so there's a chance I can have an aneurysm. I have to go every six months and have a full body scan looking for them. So far so good, but I could get one at any time, at any age. It also effect my blood pressure. Because my vessels are strechy, when I stand up from a sitting position, my blood goes with gravity away from my heart and because the vessel's integrity isn't what it should be it can't hold up to the pressure so my blood goes to my legs, away from my brain, and I faint nearly every time I stand. It's called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardic Syndrome which is a sort of sister diagnosis that tends to go with EDS. I also have dysautonomia, which is another sister disease that tends to go with EDS as well. The dysautonomia causes issues with my heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature regulation, anything that your body does for you automatically without you having to think about it. It's a rather complicated disease, and rather rare so there's not a lot of funding to look for a diagnosis. It's a genetic disease, so my hubby and I are looking for a good genetic specialist atm. But as for now I'm maintaining the state I'm in, or at least trying to. I live most of my life online and am stuck in bed while Brian goes to work. Because I faint every time I stand up I can't get up at all unless he's here to help me.

    It's sad seeing a lot of comments on this video like, "Oh, why would you stay with someone who abuses you?" A lot of people are scared to leave, whether it be of their abuser or of losing friends or of admitting they're being abused. And then look at the girls in the audience, who didn't think the scenes were abusive simply because the guy didn't put his hands on the girl or who didn't think anything of the hair pulling or him jerking her back. I wanted to rip out my hair and scream at them, because come on! That is not just an argument. That is fucking abuse or the start of abuse. And I say that as a survivor of emotional and verbal abuse in a relationship. My ex was horrid to me, and very controlling and possessive. I could only have friends that he approved of (he even snapped at me multiple times for hanging around a gay guy), I couldn't go anywhere without him accusing me of cheating on him, he'd chase away guys that I might be interested in while I was single, he'd coerce me into cheating on guys I with, I would use my best friend to go around my dad's back just to be with him, and I didn't even realize it, and was with him for about 3 or 4 years off and on. It wasn't until I tried to commit suicide because of him that one of my friends pointed out signs of an abusive relationship to me. And by saying, "Oh they're dumb for staying with them after being hit," you're only making the abusers validated in their actions.
    And I'm not gonna respond to idiots who respond to this because I'm dealing with dumbasses.

Know your worth and know that no one gets to treat you like that because you deserve better.

    Omg this makes me so angry, like she is abusive to him too? As far as feminism goes I don't understand why women are giving themselves a free pass for hurting a man merely because they are female, so ironic how we finally have more equality and now we manipulate it so we can hurt men? We are equal, you abuse someone you need to be prepared for them to DEFEND themselves. They both need help. Feminism is to create equality, not to create a hierarchy again from the opposing standpoint. I should verify I am not defending his actions, just as I am not defending her abusing him, they need help as a couple and he does not need to be the main receptor for the host and others attacks, they both do.

      She was though, they were both being mutually abusive. My point is that if she were abusive and he defends himself he will be considered an abuser, not her, the same would be if the scenario were reversed. She goes straight to accusing and condescending him, of course he abused her and that is disgusting but she is also abusive. Abuse is not merely violence physically but also verbally, he should not hit her, agreed, but she should not push or verbally abuse him either. What I mean by this is that I don't feel like this is fair to focus on the male abuser, because this happens far too often in our society.

    With that first couple, I get that it's definitely not ok for him to punch or choke her, but let's not ignore that she admitted to pushing and kicking him too. They both have a problem with abusing each other. They both need help. A lot of times males get ostracized for being abusers, but we tend to forget that females fight and hurt just as badly. Sometimes we don't even have to make physical contact with someone to cause torment. In fact, women are known to be emotionally abusive where males are more physical. Abuse is abuse and it can cause a lot of sever damage no matter what format. A broken bone or a broken soul. It's not just men who abuse and it's not just women who are victims.

    This kinds of abuse usually happens because the relationship is too intimite too quickly. Soon enough they have become eachother's lives, and can not live with or without eachother. That is when you get so used to that person and so close, that it almost feels like a brother sister relationship, and we all know how easy you can fight with your siblings. The guy is explaining himself perfectly fine, he gets emotionally pushed over the limit. I have experienced that before. He is so in love with her and has such extreme emotions for her that if she talks down on him it hurts him ao much he can't control himself. Also the bucket is constantly full if you don't have alone time and the smallest remark, look or gesture can blow up their emotions. It is a pretty typical situation, most people don't let it get to that point that they would punch eachother though. Shitty situation indeed.

    For fucks sake, this actually pisses me off. I get that Edwin shouldn't hurt her, but I actually feels like she pushes him too much. In case anyone calls me a non feminist or whatever, I'm not saying it's just her fault, but there are too many of these advice show hosts that think with a one track mind. Tyra doesn't understand his point of view - he already said he tells her to leave him alone until he erupts.
    I hate yelling, but my mum loves pushing me to the point where I yell back, and then she shrinks and is like 'why are you doing this to me?' I feel like it's the same dynamic, except the physical part was an overreaction.

People from healthy families do not end up in situations like this and if by some fluke they do and they were scammed by someone who turned out to be trouble, they leave immediately because they don't have the tolerance level to deal with that type of drama on a consistent basis.

    I find it hard to believe these are real stories and real victims, for the simple fact that abusive boyfriends would never allow their girl to come out about their abuse on national TV... most girls in abusive relationships are too afraid or embarrassed to tell even their closest friends and family. no way they'd be willing to tell the world. and if their bf has any control of them, which most abusive bf's do, they wouldn't let it happen. maybe AFTER the fact, after they break up... then I could believe it. but not while they're still together and still being abused.

    I had an EX who hit me, I left him and then He had another Girl then Hit her too.
    One day he went to Jail because he hit someone else outside the relationship, he was bailed out by some stupid friend. Went to jail again for stealing & Battery got bailed out again by the same stupid friend. The 3rd time he was out he finally killed someone by stabbing the victim. This time he went to Prison for Life. Couple of Weeks ago he was killed inside Prison by his Prison Mate yep you guessed it by Stabbing.
    There is a saying "What goes around comes around".
    The worse thing about this story is that this guy I used to Love died alone.
    None of his Family want to have anything to do with him. His other Ex is now married and Happy with a child. As for me I am in a better place. As for that stupid friend who kept bailing him out HE lost his business.
    All the years he wasted while hurting people moved on and have families while he rots in Prison with no Visitation.

    Wow, those young women in the audience could not be any more clueless. So, abuse only entails physical force? They are completely wrong. They seriously need to learn that there are different kinds of abuse. Verbal abuse IS abuse, and can escalate to physical abuse. Verbal mistreatment can destroy the confidence of an individual, and once the physical violence comes in, the victim will most likely be in such a state of weakness that he or she will be even less likely to leave the abuser.
    Sorry for the essay. Those girls just really pissed me off with their ignorance. -_-

    You people don't understand you think it's so easy to leave. It's not. I was in a abusive relationship and those are very hard to get away from it. My ex use to pull me by my hair and punch me in the face and slap me and then I tried to leave but I thought I loved him and I thought he loved me but you know it's still going on. He still won't be leaving me alone. People need to stop saying "oh just leave him" you can't get away from it that easy.

    I think men shouldn't hit women, if the woman gets outta control, as a man just remove yourself from the situation

    This show is very one-sided women are equally as violent as men can be just aren't as strong it's not pretend female on male violence in relationships does not exist

    "my girl friend is my angel" I will only cry and talk like I always do to God to show that I don't like the situation we are in so, guys please don't rush in to relationships pray and God will give you one of his angles to love you in and out. i know is not easy but first keep your body pure and someone pure will come "with a big smile (-_-) I know everything will be fine"

    K tons of these female audience members were really oblivious to abuse.
