  • Wales 2005 title challenge took off on a magical night in Paris against the previous year's Grand Slammers France.
Few gave them a chance but what unfolded was an epic, with five of the greatest rugby minutes of Martyn Williams life at its heart.
Having already unexpectedly beaten England in Round One, Wales would go on to claim the Grand Slam against Ireland on the final day.

Nugget took on both French second rows for the last try.
Agree with all the other posters Dwayne Peel delivery from the scrum and breakdown is s sight to behold.

The speed in which the ball is recycled from the ruck is impressive, it always puts the defence on the back foot, would be nice to see that speed used in today's games...

Ufortunately, we now have scrum halves who like to have a debate/take a breather/look around to find the other 14 players/ at the base of the scrum - Gareth Edwards must be shuddering!

Apologie to Lloyd Williams - brilliant in his steadiness!

Absolutely true. The only team that has been doing it rather consistently are the All Blacks, which is one reason why they are so successful.

Some great hands from Henson. At 2:50 especially, the pass is poor at his feet and all over the place through the air but he picks it up without breaking stride like it's nothing

Was at this game. A great season under Ruddock in 2005 for the GS. Wales had much success after this, but this was their best rugby IMO.

I was also there, as a guest of SocGen. My host asked me if I wanted to go to the bar at half-time and I said that I was there to watch rugby. He made it back just after Martyn Williams' second try!

When the “The Boys” Chuck the ball about instead of playing slow grinding rugby, they are one of the most dangerous sides to play against

What a team! Stephen Jones...what an underrated number 10. Just looked some guy down the local pub. As for Henson, a wasted talent too.

@wildebest his role has vanished ?? So the role of a 7 linking play between forwards and backs in your opinion has vanished ?? Suppose you consider tipuric nothing more than a hindrance in today's "modern" game.. put the crack pipe down pall because what Williams did for Wales the likes of tipuric is doing today for Wales..
