The '49 Shoebox looks to be very solid. It might be a cool cruiser with little work involved. It might be easier to just buy a VW complete floor pan and rebuild the dune buggy from that.

Not a bad 49 Ford. Looks like 63 Impala SS seats. 49s have 16” wheels went to 15” in 50.

Another Old Codger who never got a "Round Tuit " . I hope all the trim is in the trunk because between that and the broken top mechanism and the incorrect seats your $2500.00 car instantly became a $5000.00 car . The old guy couldn't even come down $200 bucks, been there done that . Good luck . Hopefully the replacement engine isn't stuck , Flathead Ford V-8s are expensive to rebuild .
