I've been watching his comedy/magic for a long time, & this is the earliest of his work I have ever seen. Truly Amazing - so sad that he's gone. "Have we done this yet? Ok, we'll do it now."
The same could have been said for Otto and George. The beauty of the act though is sometimes in the totally-oblivious crowd. It's just seeing the horrified reactions of people who have NO idea what they're in for. In many ways, it's both very traditional and very unique.

The basic outline may be the same, but he's refined the details to an incredible degree. It annoys me so much that people are disappointed with one act that develops over the years. Acts of genius don't often happen spontaneously. I've been doing the same few routines for years, and I have a long time to go before I'm as polished as him.

i saw a little hint on how he was doing it while watching this clip does part of it in vole two sticks at the top of the cloth. and also he does some of the same dang tricks he dose now.
