My goodness that is a lot of after care and cleaning. I worked in a LASIK clinic and there was none of this. So interesting.

In the UK I had cataracts done but was not told I also had fuchs dystrophy too. After a couple of years the fuchs got much worse and now have been waiting corneal grafts. Not pleased I was not informed earlier.

How old are you? I was not diagnosed until I was about 55. I had a canary surgery in one eye. Then I was going to have it done in the other eye. Then have the cornea transplant. I was sent to another cornea specialist, as my cornea swelled a few weeks after surgery. Now, I'm having DMEK and cataract surgery at the same time.

      What was the alternative?

Excellent directions from the nurse. I wish American doctors could spend that much time. My eyes were dilated, but not check by the surgeon.

Is this an alternative to DMEK?

Is this procedure under consideration for approval in Canada? If not, any active studies on this procedure in Canada? Or will Health Canada allow this procedure under certain circumstances?

Hello From Canada, I Just came across your page, I was just diagnosed with Fuchs Dystrophy in late 2021 and I also have the onset of cataracts. I was asking about surgery for cataracts as my vision is blurry and was told having the cataract surgery could cause issues as I have FD. The Dr stated in this video that it is worse in the morning with blurriness and like a fog. I did have a procedure done for cataract but not the one mentioned here. My question is, should I go first for the cataract surgery or would this cause serious issues as I have FD or should I request to have this procedure Fuchs Dystrophy first. It has become very frustrating and stressful.

Hope you got sorted. I am having my second corneal transplant this week. I have read cataract surgery can hasten FD , it did mine. Also some surgeons will do cataract and corneas together but others won't. Not helpful is it.
However my one eye with new cornea is good and I can even drive a little way. Hope you get treated soon. A long waiting list in the UK for tissues though.

@@cynthiastogden7000 I did have a procedure in 2021 for the cornea and first cataract surgery on May 13/22 and second one for other eye June 10/22. All is looking good just a bit of blurriness for second eye which will eventually go away like the other eye and will follow up with Optomitrist 4-6 weeks after second surgery. Colours look brighter also. Wishing you all the best if you have this done.

It depends on how fast that your eye heals and if you need glasses.
