I’m a 2000’s kid but I always found retro games more fascinating and I grew up playing my dad’s SNES. Ever since, I grew my own retro video game collection.
That is so cool...i think its fascinating that someone who didnt grow up with it can stil enjoy it now!
I was born in ‘87. My uncle got me started on NES playing Duck Hunt. Then my dad got me a N64. Been hooked ever since. Crazy to think of 90’s games as “Retro”. Feels like yesterday.

Retro games remind me of old childhood friends, my grandma and grandpa, and generally some of the best times of my life. Same reason I collect toys

Retro games gives you the feeling of being a kid again staying up late with your cousins trying to get to the next level...try after try defeating the big boss...and just having a good time! Great memories!

Cool $10 game collection challenge I love collecting retro video games I never thought I would be a game collector with a collection I'm a huge Mario fan I'm collecting ones I had when I was a kid and ones I missed out on as well as other games it's fun to relive your childhood and go back to the classics

Retro, I feel like this video and this series started a big retro movement and im glad to be a part of it. Its so much fun being able to amass a huge collection while saving for a house.
Yes I’m so excited for this series!! I’ve been trying to grow my collection more and get into flipping and you’ve been a huge inspiration for me! And what’s not to love about retro games haha, I guess a lot of it’s a huge nostalgia thing for me, even though I grew up in the 2000s my parents had a NES which me and my brother played a lot of growing up :)

Takes me back to the good old days.... I've been gaming over 45 years... started when I was around 6 and im still gaming at 53! Sadly about 5years ago I had to sale off most of my old systems and I've been trying to figure out how to start building a collection... and thanks to you, I think im going to try this method. I have a 13y old who loves to game, we have both started watching your channel and are excited to try this together as a team! We are starting with 20 dollars a piece.... Let's the games begin! I love retro video games because growing up as an only child, video games were a source of comfort and fun. I still go back to my favorites when I’m feeling down because it’s the ultimate surge of nostalgia!

Retro Rick modern would probably be super mario galaxy while retro would probably be super mario world (the ending theme is awesome)

I'm a big fan of honesty. "Hey old lady at the mom and pop thrift shop, there were two discs in this box. Does that count as one game or two?"
"Why thank you for your honesty young whipper-snapper, you just keep that extra disc on the house!"
You'd be surprised how much people appreciate honesty and even when it doesn't go in your favor, you can know that you did the right thing. I've built up my game collection in this exact way as well (my largest collections are 360, about 360, and PS2, about 430) as well as probably a thousandish other games and a few dozen consoles and please be encouraged that it's entirely doable being honest with people.
Also, I like retro video games because it takes me back to much simpler times. Have great memories playing snes with my dad and staying up late while we listened to old classic rock records

Our favorites were all the DK Country games, Yoshi's Island, and then CTR on PS1

I’ve done it I finally got my hands on a SNES with two of my favorite games F-Zero and Super Mario World.

Just discovered your channel and this series through your recent game room tear down/rebuilding videos and really digging your content dude! This $10 challenge especially has been sort of scratching my itch to go game hunting while being stuck at home. My favorite thing about retro gaming has been becoming the sort of historical aspect of it all. Seeing how the NES evolved to the SNES, N64, or the Genesis to the Saturn and Dreamcast, etc. and how the games progressed as well. It's of course a lot of nostalgia too, but lately I've been gaining a greater appreciation for the history of it all as well!

I love retro games because it’s takes me back to a time where I was happiest. Every time I put a cart in my SNES I become so overwhelmed with nostalgia & joy. Great escape from reality. Rad RVCA hat btw!

I love retro video games because they remind of a simpler time when me and my siblings would play our SNES all day long during the summer in our garage. Our favorite was the Donkey Kong Country games and this one Mickey game that i forgot the name of. Our mom got rid of it years later since we didn't play it as much but as an adult I miss playing those games. Your channel brings me back to those times and love watching your videos because of that.
Im so glad they bring you back....Donkey kong country is one of my fav games of all time. They actually made i believe 3 different mickey games on the SNES

I'm only 15, but I have a pretty solid retro game collection and I love collecting them to preserve the past and also because they're legitimately good games!

Pure Nostalgia and My favorite memories growing up.. And it's very true.. You can make a collection pay for itself.. And it's the nostalgia that we buy and sell.. Yes you can buy an emulator but there's just something about having the consoles and physical copies/carts and discs and putting them into your systems Just like having the Gi Joe's and He Man figures you grew up with.

I love retro video games because of the feeling of nostalgia. My first console(s) I played ok as a kid was a ps1 and a ps2 and even to this day I get nostalgic to buy/ and play games on my ps1 and ps2. My boyfriend has even got a ps1 and ps2 so we can loan games and play them.

Hell of a way to start the series! Turning $10 into $70! I love retro games because of the simplicity of them and awesome 8-bit soundtrack. I can still hear in my head the eerie ghosts sacks flying in the air in Ghosts N Goblins. LOL
I've done the same thing with my lego-collection over the years so I believe you! Just takes a bit of work. I started with 100$ 5 years ago, now I have at least 40-50k worth of lego :) Love this series and just decided its time to see it from episode 1 :)
Just found your channel and its awesome! Retro video game collecting takes me back to my childhood when it was simpler. I wish my kids could experience going to buy a new game by pulling the ticket from the toysrus shelf, renting a game from a video store, spending all weekend playing that one game. No internet just good old fashioned nintendo power to get through parts of games when you are stuck. Man i miss those days.
Great concept and content. I love seeing the whole process. None of the stores in my area sell any games for less than $8. Even the Goodwills and Value Village

Love your videos man and honestly retro games give you a since of innocence, it’s fun it’s what all our childhoods are. granted newer games are fun but I don’t get the same feeling compared to playing a nes or snes game they all have a meaning or connection to us in some way and that’s why I love em way more than modern consoles.

Retro Rick not to long ago I came across a ad for genesis model 2 with a total of 12 great titles being that I’m a huge TMNT fan hyperstone heist was one included but the best part about the pickup the guy sold me the lot for 12 dollars👌🏼 this is a example of your video being that even just from turtles alone easy paid off more than what it was worth but the other titles were worth great value and surly made up more that what I paid for to find more games I actually need.

Retro games take me back to a time where life was fun and it was filled with adventure. You could find happiness and excitement in the smallest things. When you didn't have to pay bills or worry about a 9 to 5. When you play retro games as an adult, it feels innocent. It feels as though you can just have pure enjoyment without feeling the fluster of adulthood.

Nice pick ups! Dude, one of my pet peeves is the folks that take their sweet time in front of the DVDs at thrift stores. It's like "move it, that copy of when Harry met Sally isn't gonna change your life".
I mostly play retro cause that's what I grew up playing. I grew up poor, so what we had access to was always old. I was rocking out at four and five playing Atari. That was in the early mid nineties. Then, I got a game boy and Sega in the late nineties. So, I've always have played retro.
hahaha exactly....i didnt grow up with much either so i was always about a console behind, but still had a great childhood nonetheless playing all these awesome games!

Retro gaming just brings so much nostalgia - the excitement of a new game as a kid, playing with friends, and the challenge of them. There was no internet walkthroughs or TH-cam. You had to put time into them, find a tips & tricks book, talk to staff at the rental place. Ah those were the days!
I love retro games because they're just fun to play! I also can really appreciate how good some of these games are when I think about the limitations the developers had to deal with. Things have come a long way, but developers have always been able to use the tools available to them to deliver the best, most memorable experiences each console generation.

Why I like retro gaming so much is cause basically I grew up around it. It brings back so many good memories just picking up a game and just reliving the memories and thinking about the days where me and my cousin's would just sit around and play video games just about all night and all day. Also think back when my parents didn't have much money but my dad would try to go rent a game I've been wanting to play like he did when I was younger and he surprised me with mario kart 64. Also something else I love about retro games is just finding games that I didn't get to play growing up or discovering an amazing game that I didn't even know about. Just subbed! You are my TH-cam find of the year. This concept is just like the NesPunk's videos but with game rules added to it. I love it.
Also the reason i prefer retros to current games is because today's game leave nothing for the imagination. Every character have precise looks, voices, actions right in front of us. I prefer a text and a one grid move movement to signifies a storytelling so that i make out whats in front of me with my own imagination.
Retro games take me back to a simpler time...and I love sharring them with my kids :)

I grew up with the NES and SNES playing with my dad and brother. Now as a dad myself, I've enjoyed collecting and sharing the games I grew up with with my kids now. I love it and they love it!

why i love retro video games? honestly i see tons of nostalgia myself never saw growing up from 2002-2006 as i gotten older at 21 i watch console/video game collection videos which inspire me to do it now to present day gonna be 23 years old by march my collection grew and met few people along the way
I think the friendships you make along the way is something you don't expect but one of the best parts of collecting

I'm in love with retro games because they take me back to a simple time. Going over to my aunt and uncles house, popping in super mario bros. 3 from the all stars collection. Meanwhile my cousins off in another room playing on the newly released PlayStation. The parents are in the living room watching rented movies or playing n64.... the best memories.
Retro games are all about nostalgia for me and those moments from past when i played them. Whene I see one in the wild (store, flea market etc.) it stars the memories from past its so cool. Plus be able to replay them with my cousin like we did as child is an extra cherry on top😉
