    Made me laugh, your Mrs saying “Be kind to them, be gentle”, then Daddy is going to chop them up or stick a big hook in them lol. Good video.

    Better off using brown plain cardboard at the top rather than news paper as it’s got ink in it which they won’t like just a tip for ya 👍

      @TheCarpyTraveller  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I kind of figured that out when they weren’t eating much and it’s started to smell so that’s exactly what I’ve done

    A friend of mine has made a car sticker saying
    "Annelids die in hot cars".
    If they do, the smell is horrendous!

    One thing I will say is that you won't get a sustainable amount of worms from a box that small. They will breed but they take about a year to get to any real size and won't be sexually mature until about 18 months. To keep a sustainable supply you'd need a 2 year head start and then maybe a dozen boxes to cycle through unfortunately. It's a good way to store and retrieve worms between sessions which is a saving in itself but that's about as far as it goes

      I only plan on taking works next year I’ve got 3 more trays so hopefully they will keep reproducing and eating so I can build it all up.
      I’m also doing it for the compost and the fertiliser for the garden.

      Waste of time mate won’t produce enough for fishing

    • @TheCarpyTraveller
      @TheCarpyTraveller  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I plan on starting to harvest in a years time! Once they start to reproduce I’m led to believe they will double in population every 3-4 months. I’ve also got a few more trays for when this happens

    Can you do this with lobs !

    • @Outta_Towna
      @Outta_Towna 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No 👍🏻 You can store lobs short term but not breed them or keep them in a composting set up like this.

      No they don’t feed the same way of dendras. They are imported from Canada

    Get a cardboard shredder awesome for bedding plus they will eat it to i shred tones of cardboard i to is a carp angler my wormery is 3 years old and they breed that much i ended up getting a compost bin too which as thousands of worms into i also add crushed eggshells to help with digestion just add shredded cardboard to the bottom as the worms will migrate downwards they will eat all the cardboard in a couple of weeks then transfer back to the trays repeat 🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱

    • @TheCarpyTraveller
      @TheCarpyTraveller  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tend to add the cardboard to the top. For now it’s still working well for now! With the use of shredded food, seems to be going well for now.
      When you do your egg shells how do you prepare them?
