Chitown and JDfromNY really broke the show down in the only way they knew how plus toward the subject that they talked about as far whom they looked up to goes again I agree with Chitown whole heartedly because from a parental standpoint he made a tremendous amount of sense.

The Mariah/Toni/Mina story is the best long term story they're telling right now and I feel very invested.

I think Ospreay/Swerve has the potential to be good if they stretch it beyond one match. Biggest problem with Swerve's reign is that he hasn't had a real feud yet. He has a few segments for 2-3 weeks with someone, he has a match with them, he wins, and then moves on to the next guy. That's not a feud.
But yes, the HLA triangle is definitely the only interesting thing going on at the moment unless you care about mostly B-Level guys from Japan and Mexico coming in for a PPV before disappearing again.
I’d really like to see/hear that conversation JD had with whoever told him AEW will never listen to fan criticism.

I always said, TK has become Vince 2.0. Petty, book week to week, book for himself he knows what best. Til TK gets back to what made AEW great. It will never grow to its fullest potential. JD is spot on here.
Vince at least was the best booker until 2013. He put on an entertaining product until then. TK is only 42 years old yet he is already out of touch. It took Vince 30 years to be out of touch, but it took tony only 4

I remember one of my first recollections of watching pro wrestling was seeing hulk hogan vs macho man at WrestleMania and I remember everything that lead up to that match at a young age because it had story. Wrestling is as much about story as it is the wrestling anyone saying its not doesn't know what true pro wrestling really is. It's not about being a hater it's just plain facts if all you wanna do is watch guys wrestle the Olympics are right around the corner.
AEW will blame the NBA Draft for their poor ratings.
Ratings were back to where they were the week prior as anyone with a clue about ratings said they would be. The people with a clue knows why they dipped for the 1 week was a nothing burger.
Bang Bang Gang is so much better with Juice and I love the ref kicking everyone out. I wanted Fenix/Jay White one on one. Solid match. One of the highlights of the night...predictable but solid match.
The forbidden door also needs to feel like something that you would never expect and whoever comes through has to be someone that would normally be taboo to show up there like someone big in WWE.
I disagree with Chitown. it is not pity that WWE only wants TNA to work with them, cause what if they have a story going with Joe Hendry and because he is already evolved with someone in AEW it messes up the story, plus TNA already worked with AEW and that didn't go no where.

Until Tony Khan realizes pro wrestling is entertainment instead of treating as some free style Olympic match tournament..his ratings ain't going to sniff what it was circa 2021-2022.
Tony really thinks MJF vs Daniel Garcia is a Wembley match? Max was in the main event last year as the world champ. Imagine Roman facing Cody in the main event at WM as the champ, and next year he's facing Austin Theory in a non title match 😂

The women's division is a joke, they have Taya Valkrie in fucking Ring Of Honor, Queen Aminata who got over and sent to ring of honor purgatory, Kamille hasn't showed up yet, Megan Bayne who hasn't showed back up, Red Velvet...ring of honor, they barely feature Sereena Deeb, i knew exactly what was gonna happen with Deonna Purrazzo, I said once she loses to Toni that's it, Thunder Rosa also lost to Toni. Where the fuck is Mercedes Martinez? Isn't she signed? I even told my wife who knows I watch dynamite, that the show is lacking and haven't been on shit smh. Everything you guys said about the show is fact.
Their biggest women's star Britt Baker has been kept off tv for what feels like 2 years now. Ever since she dropped the title, they rarely booked her.
Most of the women are injured.

That opening segment from MJF was the best part of the show but I agree with JD forbidden door needs to collab with other companies besides new Japan that's how you make forbidden door very exciting to watch.🤔
I used to live in Jacksonville during the pandemic. My friend and I have been to over 10 AEW Dynamites, Blood and Guts, and Revolution 2022. Let me tell you, this show has gone down the shitter. I cannot sit thru this show anymore, they don’t care about the week to week tv. It’s ok to like AEW, but to say they have NO problems is completely asinine. This years Forbidden Door is the first ppv I’m NOT buying. I’m good on that until they fix their creative

TK just announced two more matches for forbidden door , making it now 13 matches if you count the one on Zero hour. Tony needs to learn that sometimes less is more. We don't need five hours of PPv's . If five or six matches leaves the audience satisfied and all matches get enough time and deliver then that's enough, but 13 that's overkill man . Even if the wrestling is good who wants to sit there that long? I know Tony wants to be different from the WWE but they've been the leader in the industry for a long time for a reason. They've figured out that four to five hours is just too long to make fans sit there let alone the wrestlers ( who then do a stupid scrum). I'm not saying copy and paste what WWE does but maybe take a note from a company that's been there and done that and learn from their mistakes so you don't repeat them. Right now that's exactly what he's doing, that and booking for an Audience of two.
The only part I watched was the MJF, Daniel Garcia and Ospreay segment. After that, I go watch the last episode of Who Killed WCW? It's more interesting than watching the full episode of Dynamite.

I was at tonight's show... crowd barely popped after the 1st segment.. which I thought wasn't all that great and came out of nowhere... only thing that made it great is that it was my 8 year old son's 1st live wrestling show and he is hooked! But MJF made a mistake coming back to AEW... all that cash he signed for ain't gonna matter in a few years when bad creative ruins him

For Forbidden Door to be fresh and new, You need to have people involved that people know about and get excited to see. Not foreign companies who western audiences don't know. They need to evolve the format, at this point WWE vs AEW is the only way to boast both companies. Imagine the Invasion done with AEW vs WWE just to see whose the best.

Opening segment...I love DG but they have done nothing significant with him after he lost to Christian. I thought it went a little long since the first 12 minutes didn't do much for me. I loved the Ospreay/MJF aspect and the post segment with Swerve but it felt like DG didn't belong and I rolled my eyes when they pitched MJF/DG at Wembly. That cannot be the match.

The company changed, so your observations of the product changed which is in lime with Cody's original departure which I felt caused a chain reaction of events that lead us to now where the product has declined over the years. Aew just needs to do better.
The show being in nyc is what saved it
You Mr Jesse want the WWE to go and help out AEW because they are doing shows with TNA? Has the owner of TNA EVER trashed talk the WWE? To my knowledge NO. Do they brag about who they signed and give them mic time to tell how the process happend and how crappy the WWE is to my knowledge no. So because AEW can't create long term booking and because AEW has a bloated roster with limited amount of TV time and just throws the belt or a belt on the hottest name to join the show. The WWE shouldn't be a welfare line to AEW. This is TK'S fault NOT the WWE. TK has no excuses.
Aew thinks everything is great
I don't truly believe TK thinks that. He's not going to go on TV, radio, and podcast and say "hey we need to do better in X aspect" he's the owner, booker, and promoter and he's going to plug and promote his product every chance he gets. If he didn't think improvements needed to be made, we wouldn't see new setups, more stories, a GM, a women's writer, and more. I think most people want to hear him say something, and they want to see the changes they'd make and at a pace they want them made. Instead, we see small changes slowly that still aren't translating how we expect or want them to. Just my opinion, nobody has to agree with it.
The problem with tony is that he books for an audience of 2. Himself and meltzer. He will push his favorites only and if they are not his favorite, then he will do it in order to please meltzer. This is what is hurting the company.
Agree. He doesn't push the best cause of fears that WWE will sign them after they get over. Instead, he pushes wrestlers who are loyal to him.
Tony needs to realize that Dave's opinion doesn't matter and he's using him because this is the closest Dave will ever get to thinking he's part of a wrestling company. I think they should split the rosters and Tony really needs to listen to the veteran wrestlers he has on his staff and the people that have worked for other promotions.

I thought this was a very mid level show. There were some high points...Ospreay is always great. Kyle O'Riley acting like Mark was funny. Suzuki ripping on the Learning Tree was funny. I liked the Ospreay/Swerve match (especially the post match stuff) BUT I'm not excited for the PPV. I just don't know or care that much about the New Japan/CMLL stuff...that's on me but I'm guessing it's on a lot of the non-hardcore fans. It seems to be a very niche fan group. I don't even know if I'd get this PPV if it wasn't for Swerve/Ospreay (I AM PUMPED for this match).

My hope for this whole Jeff Jarrett thing is to set the emotion. They are focusing on Jeff being Owens's friend, touchy-feely stuff. Hangman comes in and wins over Jarrett but he beats the ever living shit out of Jarrett. All other wrestlers in this tournament talk about how great, inspirational, loved Owen is...Hangman says he doesnt care and is only focused on revenge. Yeah, it's still a predictable win, but this builds Hangman to be a heartless person hell-bent on one thing. Sort of like what Serve said to Will about you need to have no friends and only the title.

I agree JD... everything feels rigid..no emotion..no enthusiasm. It literally feels like Tony just put the shows together in the day of the show. It's like just going through the motions. I don't know how Tony thinks he is putting out good television.

Before being deemed a hater, just to clarify I haven't still missed an episode of Dynamite. But the company is trying its best to test the fan loyalty. I had quit watching wrestling earlier, and will do again when necessary. Honestly just want it to be better and not feel like I could have invested time better elsewhere, there's nothing much better than pro-wrestling at its peak.

I've been watching New Japan since 2014 and love it every since. They have talent that they are building, their tournaments go hard but no one watches cept the 1% of me who appreciate. Everyone can call it boring but I live it and it's gonna be a great show period
If you’re an actual real fan of something you will criticize it when it’s bad. The “sickos” are just people who blindly will support anything AEW puts on tv and appeasing those few people is exactly what will keep AEW not bettering their product
This stream was so much fun AEW dynamite was absolutely boring last night man what's going on with AEW after they aired the all-in footage it's all been downhill ever since WWE is on fire while AEW is ice fucking cold vince mcmahon leaving WWE is easily the worst thing to ever happen to AEW because it's made their product worse I'll be catching up with the review later this morning to see what i missed since i didn't watch dynamite because tony khan is basically throwing shit at the wall and none of them stick.

What Tony Khan needs to do is to get his ass out of his out of his legs and rewrite what a ew was the first time they started that's what Tony Khan needs to do rewrite what it means the first time he started all elite wrestling and make it high began because right now is not height he needs to change the way he is booking these matches and put more stories together make it means something make it feel like you're watching a movie
I'm just glad Jesse and jd are finally able to see what those of us who stopped watching All Empty seats Wresting years ago saw way back then.
It was good early on. Attendances were lot better too. Ratings nearly reached RAW at a certain point. But lately there's been a dip, everyone acknowledges that. It wasn't always bad.
The sad part is it used to be great it nearly topped Raw a few years ago like the other comment above said but now I don’t know what’s happened to Aew but if they don’t fix it there might not even be an Aew in the future
also if the roster of the company (NJPW) that is "Forbidden" can get onto AEW weekly tv on a regular basis How THE FUCK Is it "FORBIDDEN" ??
forbidden door has been a downfall for aew since it started. it didn't make any sense and it disrupted what they were trying to start

TBH, I already stopped watching the product. I just catch some clips from TH-cam. For me, the last interesting thing from AEW was that Devil reveal, the Adam Cole vs. MJF feud. Once TK was giving up on it, so did I on AEW.

The AEW Dynamite go-home show for Forbidden Door 2024 was hot garbage from top to bottom. No meaning in the wrestlers, the titles, the matches, or the performances. Zero storytelling. It is disappointing. Thanks a ton for the review, JD and Jesse.

Nah, AEW rarely misses on their PPV shows. World's End was one of their worst in recent memory but they still had great matches on that card.

I don’t understand why they had Ospreay and Swerve teaming up as a tag team tonight instead of building more for their match. The ending was stupid and made no sense and the match didn’t need to happen. They were just insulting each other last week and now they’re all the sudden best buds and teaming up right before they fight for the world title in 4 days…

Bruh ummm Jessie did you forget AEW worked with Impact/TNA and they buried them. TNA didn't even show up in AEW. TK put on those horrible commercials trashing but TNA couldn't hit back. They killed Rich Swann who was their champion. Kenny did nothing for showing up in TNA. TNA should never want to work with AEW again after the last time. That's right blame WWE for AEW troubles bad ideas and booking. And what doesn't hurt is people watching and caring both ways. Grace and Hendry showed up and was booked decently. See this is one of the problems coming from the AEW camp Ya'll mofo's blame everybody else (mainly WWE) for AEW own short comings. Oh why can't TNA work with AEW oh because big bad WWE...BUT forget they (AEW) shit on TNA when they did have a working relationship and did NOTHING for the company/wrestlers.

WWE can be criticized for the same thing when it comes to giving title shots. Selena Vega doesn't deserve a shot based on her record, Unholy Union didn't deserve a title shot, Piper Niven didn't deserve a title shot...That's an issue with both companies...BUT WWE is so good overall right now that I don't really care.

Samoa Joe HAS NOT ADDESSED HIS TITLE LOSS OR SWERVE since he lost it. That doesn't seem in character with Joe and it's bugged me since he lost it. The male bracket it BAD. Is AEW perfect, of course not, tonight episode was good. It’s obvious what JD is doing, he’s pandering because it gets clicks. People are impressionable, if JD states episode is bad, people will clap and say it’s bad. Guarantee if he said today was a great show, most of the comments would agree.
Also the reason why AEW dosent invite him to the shows is because many in the roster dislike him, his hateful and nonsensical comments (August 2022).
Or the show just stunk
AEWs existence benefits the pro-wrestling industry, just not in its current avatar as a glorified indy promotion. That whole young bucks, jungle jack, tony khan nfl neck brace fiasco was terrible and made a mockery of pro-wrestling in the mainstream.
If you genuinely believe the show wasn't perfect, why are you pretending someone is being hateful by pointing out it's flaws?
JD says himself that they've watched AEW since the very beginning five years ago. Why would he suddenly decide to hate the product after 5 years?
I think they want everyone to sit around and wait 5 months for one match this why they keep talking about story this all what they want they think pro wrestling is like real tv shows and movies when stroylinesnare told better in them pro wrestling stories cant even beat one season of breaking bad or game of thrones to me it's boring as shit if I have to wait 5 months just for one match .
Idk about JD and what you stated but can tell you I form an opinion during AEW before JD goes live. Also hundreds of thousands of people form an opinion too by not watching AEW = lower ratings = it sucked in their minds before JD goes live and most of them probably don't know JD exists.
