    I wish it was that easy! I did my CELTA back in 2021, had read the book you recommended, done all the other things you mentioned, had been teaching English successfully over 15 years and yet... was awarded a Pass. Honestly, up to this day whenever I think about that course, I start to shiver and want to cry. I don't know what went wrong, but personally for my it was a traumatic experience. I don't want to put anyone off doing the course, it may be quite different for other people, though.

      Thank you so much for reaching out with this heartfelt and genuine reply to my video. I very much understand how _doing all the things_ doesn't necessarily add up to an A or a B and this can be a very frustrating experience for many people.
      There is light at the end of the the CELTA tunnel though. I always tell people that it wasn't the CELTA itself that made me a better teacher - rather it laid the groundwork for me to then build on with more experience. Six months after completing CELTA I was as capable and confident a teacher as any of my colleagues. What I'm getting at is, that for some of us, it just takes a little more time and that's ok.
      Are you currently teaching? Which part of the world are you in?

    • @НатальяДудко-ъ9в

      Thank you for this reassuring message. Yes, I am teaching and I absolutely love it, even though at times it can be exhausting, especially at this time of the year. I'm sure every teacher can relate to this. I am based in Russia, right in the middle of it, in Siberia. I'm not saying that I didn't benefit from the course, I did. And it's not my place to criticize it. But maybe it wouldn't hurt to arrange it in a more participant-friendly way without all that stress. But anyway, maybe it was me not being fit enough for it and other people have or will have a much more positive experience. And all the very best to everyone embarking on this journey!

    Hey there! You're awesome. Which assignment is "Lesson Plan & Language Analysis"?

    • @FergusFadden
      @FergusFadden  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your comment. There is actually no such assignment with the title "Lesson Plan & Language Analysis". However, all lesson plans do include a language analysis component and this part is assessed. There is also one assignment called the LRT - Language Related Task. This assignment focuses on the kind of content you will include in your language analysis of your lesson plan.

    I was thinking of taking the course. But I'm afraid my writing skills are not good. When I took the IELTS exam two years ago, I got band 6 from it.
    Do you think I should go for it or work on my writing and other skills before doing that?

    • @FergusFadden
      @FergusFadden  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for a great question. There are many TEFL courses out there and some of them are great and some of them not so much. This is the main thing with CELTA, it is a University of Cambridge ESOL certificate and so you can be sure it is reputable and standards are not only high but also the standards themselves are assessed and audited.
