    *Great lightweight shelter. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s love how it blocks the light from outside. It was a pain to open the first time but now that it is broke in goes up easy..*

    As an avid ice camper whilst fishing I can agree on the quality of this shelter. I've spent many nights on the ice in Michigan enjoying fishing comfortably due to this shelter.

      @@iwillletyouguess one wall is about the length of my cot, an old army cot. You could comfortably fit two cots with room to fish. 3 would be tight.

    The Eskimo 450 XD is just as good even better with the no trip door something no other hub style has! It’s definitely does the trick

    Well I have done a ton of research on these. I have read dozens of reviews and your video helped me pull the trigger on the X-600. I have 2 boys my wife and our big dog. This thing should be perfect for winter camping on the ice. I got it of Amazon with the clam 12v light and a led fan combo for under 525! Can't pass that deal up at all! Thanks for a great video!

      How’d you get that deal? I’m on Amazon looking at the hubs all the time. Those three things seem impossible for 525... it’s 1,024 just for the shelter

      @Brandon H yeah you'd be right. The add listed the X600 but I received the 400. I sent it back and they resent what was supposed to be the 600. .... well nope it was the 400 all over again. Had them issue a refund.. I found it again locally here in MN on clearance for 569.00. I'll be picking that one up instead. Still a steal!!!

      Thanks man!! One thing to note that I did forget to mention was Clam offers a 3 year warranty and stands behind the product. Other brands only offer 1 year Infound.

    It is heavy though for those without an atv or snow machine, and live in an area with deep snow. I bought the smaller x400 thinking it would fit in my walking sled and just didn't work out. Returned it for a Shappell 5500 and it is working better for my needs. That being said the x series is awesome if you don't mind the weight and size.

      For sure. The X series is a lot to haul around by foot in snow for sure. The heavy duty material does add some extra weight no doubt.

      @@bobbuilder118 more personal preference at this point. Both are nice, but I had some bad experiences with clam quality a few years ago that left a bad taste in my mouth. I have the Otter XTH Lodge and the Vortex Resort hubs.
      The removable windows and the grey interior were two big selling points. Lights are much more effective with the lighter interior. Also the wider bottom of the otter resort adds to the usable square footage. I like the multiple anchor points(hub straps and the grommets on the skirt) of the otter as well.

    I'm looking at one of these for winter camping. Probably will set it up on a heavy-duty tarp instead of buying a floor and have a buddy heater in it. If steaked down will this hold up to strong winds?

      That’s a great option! The flooring is nice but it does put the setup at a pretty penny when said and done so lots won’t go for the flooring or at least right off the start. I’ve had mine in 75km/hr winds and she didn’t go anywhere with the pegs in the ice.

      Not water proof no, water resistant but if eventually will get wet if it’s raining or sleeting hard and melting

    I got into ice fishing 1 year ago and had some friends with a hub shelter but him being a small kid it was about 6 inches to short and very crammed. I want a shelter that will last me a long time and enough to sleep 2 cots if needed but mainly enough for 1 guy to sleep and camp out of comfortably. I want it to be insulated so I was thinking the clam x-400. If anyone has any input I’d be glad to hear from you guys

      I have the Clam X400 as well! Camped in it and it’s is PERFECT. Easy to load, set up, carry for one guy, tons of room.

    Hey Boss Nice Overview. I Got the 650xd and I hate it! Its so long it doesn't fit anywhere. It doesn't even fit in the back of my truck. Any chance this packs up short enough to fit in the cab or even the box?

      NICE!! Theaccessories I got from Clam’s website. You can probabaly find them at your local retailer as well. They should work on most other brand hubs as well, not positive on all brands though. Superrrrr cool options to have.

      Yup, my light stays attached to the hub 24/7. Just unhook from battery and tuck the cables into one of the pouches.

    Are these good for summer? How do they do with rain ?

      I have never attempted using in the rain. I have had some ice fishing days with sleet and it is fabric so it eventually does get a little damp.
      I’d contact Clam’s Support Team and ask as they do have a summer model type tent I believe!

      Thank you!! It is a fantastic option.
      The 600 is quite a bit larger and heavier than the 400 model. For 4 people to fish 2 holes each comfortably and consistently I would say the 600, but if it it 2 or 3 people most of the time and the odd time with a 4th, and you want something a bit easier to haul around go with the 400.

      @@AmpedUpAngling Hey thanks! Im thinking itll be 4 people, probably 1 hole each plug a flasher, so 5 total holes. I have a flip over if its just 2 of us. Im kind of leaning towards the 600.

      No it is not water proof. It is water resistant and repels water.

      Hey Matt! Yes I do! I have the wires loosely zip tied to one pole and tucked into one of the pockets. The light stays on the hub 100% of the time.

      It’s water resistant, not water proof so it will start to absorb the water and material gets heavy and could fold the roof down. But I’ve had it in sleet and it handled it well!

      Rains kind of a different ball game. I’m not positive on the performance of this material in rain. It’s not water proof but more water resistant I feel, so rain might make the fabric absorb the water and make it heavy and collapse the poles.
      Don’t take my word on that, maybe reach out to Clam and ask a customer support rep.

      I have the x600 and I have used it in freezing rain. Holds up very well and no leaks. The only moisture inside is from condensation. Kinda a pain to dry it out though being that these things are very large!

      I really like the 400 size for mobility and it is easier to haul around. I don’t think you can “connect” two seperate tents... if you’re looking for space then the 600 is the way to go. You could sell your 400 no problem I bet and buy the 600?

      You can however buy an insulated floor for the X series of hubs!

    Is there any place I can buy it?
    Even if I google it, I can't find anywhere that sells it.
    I didn't even get it this season.

      @@AmpedUpAngling What type of pull behind sled would you use to throw this and all your other gear in, chairs, propane tanks, poles etc...
      Right now my buddy has a 2 man thats got the sled and chairs attached. We throw everything in there with a clam cover. Could you recommend one that would fit this along with my other gear. We also tow it by hand or 4 wheeler.

      @@JifferRiffic I personally just have a small black sled I purchased a few years back, nothing fancy at all. At times I carry the tent while another pulls the sled.
      Not sure where abouts you live but I know Costco sells a great option. It’s a Pelican sled, good size, comes with a hitch and a cover. Really can’t beat it for the price and all that it offers.

      Hey! You can purchase the insulated floor separately. It’s not an accessory I felt was necessary for myself as I move around a lot and just use rubber puzzle pieces to keep specific items or my dog off the ice if she’s with me. :)

      Hey Scott, Every brand these days makes solid products. I had a buddy that had a lot of issues with his Otter, and I’ve had someone have some issues with Clam shelters too. The products are built extremely well but I have found Clam to be second to none in the customer service and warranty aspect of things. Which is a big thing people consider as well. Both are great shelters!
