Is it normal that it doesn't charge anymore, but it still works? When I plug it in, the LED light up as if it were charging, but after a while it turns off... It's not the charger, because when I plug it in, the volume increases, meaning the charger does work. I think I broke my speaker :( However excellent video and the 3D model is amazing!!!
Hey man nice job! very clever solutions here ;). Im not that technical so please excuse me if this question is too trivial but will the controller pcb indicate the correct charge status when another battery is connected in paralell, so the capacity is different than stock? By indicating i mean the led on top of the speaker. To put it in other terms will the controller adapt to the new capacity and indicate that its fully charged when 6500 mah has gone in it or will it indicate (incorrectly) a full charge at the design 3250 mah capacity? Edit: I just remembered that these controllers might read the voltage of the batteries. Also how long is the charge time now? I'm also curious if you've noticed any change in sound quality by tinkering with the internal chamber space. Another thing that came to my mind is wouldn't it be dangerous to connect batteries in paralell when their voltage is different? I've heard about these cells equalizing when connected and heating up etc. So did you fully charge both batteries before connecting them? Thank you!!
Hey bro ur battery led will display the correct battery level. When u wire the batteries in parallel example 4 batteries, the bms will treat them as 1 complete battery but having 4 cells
hello, yes, I have fully charged both batteries and the controller also adjusts itself, it charges the batteries to the maximum voltage that the battery can handle and then stops charging by connecting the batteries in parallel, the voltage remains the same. The speaker also lasts at least twice as long when it is empty, the speaker lights up red and when it is charged it continues to light up white, it works really well, have been using it like this for half a year now!
@@muzicpro3089 wow, very nice and clever project. lucky, that the onyx has some unused space in it and that the battery cells take up so little space despite their capacity. i've just sent back my onyx cus i didnt like the sound, but just bought a vifa helsinki and I'm planning to do a similiar battery expansion project on it. problem is that the helsinki doesnt have much space in it for another cell, so I'll have to figure something out. thanks man, have fun with your onyx
Hey brother, i wanted to know since the original battery has a bms can i wire 3 other normal 18650(without 3 bms's) battery parallel with the original one using one bms unit with 4 batteries in total instead of 4 bms's
it still lasts 2x as long, charging also takes 2x as long, but it's more than worth it, I had it on for 6 hours every week last month at low volume and it's still full, it lasts a very long time
probably not, check out of studio 8 teardown on yt, you will see that the space is reduced, they placed the AC source inside and modified the position of the battery
I'm buying the onyx studio 8, I wonder if this case also fits it.

@@ezel99 That's a shame, I think the Onxy has a very good sound compared to a JBL speaker. Harman Kardon has the best sound.

Nice, thanks! Why you use same battery, if you can much bigger?
bigger don't charge you must have the same one

perfect!
Does anyone know if the service port does anything? Wish i could charge it from the USB-C port for convenience.
So the additional battery also has a BMS in it? Is it safe to combine 2 batteries and 2 BMS in parallel?
1 bms is enough

yes, the voltage remains the same, so the BMS can continue to charge to the correct voltage and not the amperage
do you still have the link to the 3D part? i need this bad for my lake days. i only get like 2-3 hrs now cause i have it blasting the whole time
