hi philip, thank you for the tutorial. I really like to listen to your explanations. I think I understand where this is heading to with the clever use of the 'clip' object. because in the "generating sound & organizing time" book I could not recreate start and endpoint manipulation with the 'sample' object and a '+' object before the 'wrap 0 1'. looking forward to have time for the 2nd part. best regards.

very eager to hear your take on making envelopes in gen~

very good tutorial. maybe it would be great to add some capabilities that are unusual for standard samplers, just to demonstrate why would anyone even bother doing samplers the hard way in gen~ and not just use Kontakt or whatever.

thanks vojko. yes I agree. one thing i want to build toward is mc-ified version where we are using the mc messages like "deviate" to mess with the sample playback. another idea is to use nonlinear playback ramps using some unit shapers from GO or somewhere else... like a crazy pitch envelope.
would love to hear any other ideas you have.
for the more distant future i also really want to make the loop-finding feature from the old ensoniq sequencers (auto-adjusts loop start and end points so that the loop is smooth with no click). that one's not easy, though.

@@p__meyer I think it would be great to make a sampler with ability to slice live buffer content. Something like octatracks linear and random step locks. For example i've made a 4 bar groove on my external synths and resample it into a buffer, then slice it by selected divisions (1/4, 1/8 etc.) and rearrange the slices in different order to make a variation of my pattern. Ableton Simpler can't do this, but i think this incredibly useful feature especially in live performance. Thank you for this tutorial!🙏

@@thisistrigger awesome idea! maybe we can sort of elaborate on this idea of sample slices and have different ways of determining the slices - a fixed division of the buffer like you've said, an onset detector like the one in flucoma (creating a result similar to the slicer in Simpler), or note event impulses that we fire off while recording into the buffer

      @@thisistrigger super cool idea!
