    I’m surprised how many people are seeing one of these for the first time. These things are terrific. I’ve done about a dozen of these over the course of my career. Glad you guys liked the video.

      I've done some old mansions that pretty much had a hand crank

    First time I have ever seen or heard of a light lift. A very convenient way of changing light bulbs and cleaning the luminaire, or replacing it altogether. Very cool. Thanks for sharing, Ron.

      I think you're the first to use the term "luminaire" on this channel. You MUST be an electrician too.

      They use these a lot in churches, auditoriums, schools, and in some old movie theaters. In the earlier days they used handcranked lifts that worked similar to a come along. When the fixture had to be relamped or cleaned, you would have to unhook or unplug the fixture and then crank it down and back up by hand.

    First time for me. I often wondered how you change the bulbs. I am learning a lot. Thanks Ron

    Thanks Ron! I’m an electrician in the philadelphia area and just came across this today. I have to fix one that someone installed incorrectly. The whole thing was on one switch leg and they ran the hots to one switch and neutrals to the other switch and just twisted all remaining wires together! Being unfamiliar with the device I wasn’t fully equipped to explain how it should be, only how it shouldn’t lol. This video has helped tremendously.

      Good I’m glad it had helped. One circuit for the motor lift and a switched leg for the light fixture. Make sure the light switch is off before lowering or raising the light fixture.

    Thank you for this! I had no idea such a thing exists but I'll tuck that in a grey cell for the future.

      I believe this Light lift had a capacity of 200 lbs but they make them and are available with 700 lbs capacity.

    Hello Ron
    Do you know if there is any way to make aladdin light lift work with 3 way switch? I been searching with no luck. And that's how I got to your video, thanks

    The homeowner should have considered one of those lightweight LED fixtures that are thin and modern.

      This was a replacement so it’s a bit different from a new install. All new wiring, the lift, and complete installation runs approximately $3200.

    How to know if one has a arc fault? Also, how would you fix it?
    I know someone with one and it not working now.

    • @electricianron_New_Jersey
      @electricianron_New_Jersey  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well, first off... an arc fault circuit breaker detects arc faults. An arc can be caused by a loose terminal electrical connection or a defective appliance. It would be best to call a licensed electrician to find the issue.
