Its closed on sundays, grocieries stores have smaller shops that are open on sundays now, but max size allowed are 100m2 because then they are the same sizes as Kiosks gas stations and they are open on sundays. Restaurants are open sundays, malls are closed etc. if you need food or some groceries you will find it, i think its great with a day were we just chill, and get ready for the week
As a dane, the saying, "There's no bad weather, only bad clothing" is a saying here too, and I'd be very surprised, if it isn't in Sweeden as well :) We kind of have to have that mindset with how the weather conditions are here. I'd love for you to react to some more Ylvis. They have many more great songs to listen to, in both norwegian and english. And their video *Vegard treffer ikke blikkboksene* is so funny.
As a kid in Denmark with short pants in the snow, no weather was bad. It is the same after moving to Norway around 20 years later. Snow, cold, rain, no problem! Now I live in East Africa. We have "Dugnad" in East Africa too. Personally, I prefer East Africa. It is very nice there!
There is something that could truly shock people and that's driving. In Norway we hand out fines like 1.5 times your monthly gross income. So a fine that Americans would expect perhaps 50-75 dollars, could be seven or eight thousand dollars in Norway. Oh and we typically don't just suspend licenses, but revoke them internationally. So pretty normal American driving could land you a month in jail, 8000 dollars in fines and revoked license. That's culture shock. :)
Weather really never stops Norwegians, everything like clothes cars tires etc are buildt for it. If you have the right tools or gear weather is very rare to stop you from enjoying the outside imo. Far north it can get really really cold so there i guess they can meet other problems like cars having problem starting. Cold record in Norway is over minus 50 celcius😅 south of Norway and the west coast dont really get that cold. Tourism is really only a problem in some fjords with small billages and up north in Lofoten. There are few people living there so wehen 1000 of tourists come its just overwelming
Closed on sunday because it's a day of peace... You are "not allowed" to do any form of work, make noise or any of sorts on sundays... It's a day to relax, have fun and rest for a new week.
Never thought about it, but the thing with the dogs?? I think that might be a point. We love our dogs and give them time and affection, so maybe its paying us back? Cool thought!
As a Norwegian with a barking dog Not true. As my girl is a scared insecure dog. Took me 4 years to get her to walk nicely on the leash. Took other people 5 minutes to get her level all the way down to 0 again.... Now she is 8, and she walks, so to speak, fine on a leash, as long as she doesn't meet big dogs, strange dogs, small people, big people and people and dogs she wants to greet....
I never go form warm weather in the summer. its plenty warm enough. i go for the arctic never ending light/sun, for 2-4 weeks. Only go to mediteranien in the winter, if at all. Far far to hot
So many videos about norwegians going hiking. I hate it. On sundays I drink beer and watch netflix 🤣 I don't know anyone who goes hiking. I live in Oslo so maybe it is different from the rest of the country. Generally Oslo and the rest of Norway is very different.

You get many types and brands of shampoo at the local store and even more in a hairdresser shop.

The seventh day is Sunday, which from ancient times was holy and the day of rest in the Bible. It's good to have a day to recover 😊 and relax.
some of the points is not quite true, like the shampoo we does probably not have as many brands put there is way more then one even for men
