Newsflash - the government in Australia doesn't dictate a narrative to our media. For in depth background, information and analysis you do need to use sources outside Australia. Use multiple sources, compare and contrast, evaluate source reliability, and especially use critical thinking at all times. Do this in depth for a year or two, you might stop making silly statements about something you obviously know very little about

The emu war. A sad tale of European Australians trying hard but not knowing how to go about it. Non indigenous Australians still have a lot to learn. A bit slow really.
"you don't really see them" ??? !! who has time to look around when you are being torn apart by a great white shark? That said, I have not seen every deadly snake I've accidentally kicked until after I've kicked it and subsequently returned to the ground. I have been bitten by several red backed spiders (all at once) and I did not see them until i shook out my clothes looking for them. I have been stalked by a saltwater crocodile and had to detour around massive Roos with attitude. It is reasonable to say you don't actually see them, but unreasonable to leave out " until it is to late". The Emu War has never ended. The Dingo War is the real story. Koalas are functionally extinct ( that cute look is actually inbreeding and they are genetically doomed ) This place is a saga.
Ukraine must have an excellent education system, they are so knowledgeable and well spoken, and we really should send them at least one division of kangaroos.
I think the real warriors, however, are the Emus. They’ve won two wars already apparently although I did miss that in the news. Send Emus and Kangaroos.
@@teeanahera8949 The Emu wars were real. They were eating wheat seeds, and infant crops, and exploding in number. So we sent a division of Soldiers out to cull them. But an Emu is 95% feathers. The Soldiers used about 50,000 rounds, and only managed to kill a handful of Emus. Running out of ammo, our Soldiers bravely retreated... This actually happened twice. It may be why First Australians never adopted a bow and arrow. An Emu's feathers stop any arrow before it hits anything important, and arrows either bounce off a kangaroo, or piss it off. Neither's a good result. Currently we're losing Wars against Camels, Water Buffalo and Cane Toads. All of which we introduced. 😥
@@tsubadaikhan6332 there were THREE soldiers and they used about 10,000 rounds to kill just under 1,000 emus. After this complete disaster the government returned to the original plan and issued ammunition directly to the farmers, who were mostly verterans of the First World War. After that emu numbers were reduced, but not to the level desired by locals (that being zero). The aboriginals had no need for bows as the woomera is an all weather weapon (a bow is definitely not) and a woomera provides more punch for less work/weight/effort/training. A spear driven by a womera would go through an emu regardless of its feathers.
Going to be honest, when i started this video, I didn't expect someone to say aboriginal art. I just thought it was going to be animals like usual. Thank you, Ukraine, for being different and knowing Australia

I'm glad we can help Ukrainians during this very difficult time. I have to say, they know a lot more about Australia than people from other countries do! I'm impressed 😊 Just a note: dingoes have been here about 4000 years - a long time before English ppl came here. And most of us live in large cities, so we hardly ever see crocodiles, sharks or other dangerous animals 😅
Dingoes are estimated to have been here over 6,000 years ago. All the “large cities” above Gladstone or Exmouth have crocs close enough to town for people to see them. My favourite is the croc that crawled up on to the freshly laid concrete footpath in Cooktown right at the ‘Beware Crocodiles’ sign. Crocs are seen in Cairns, Darwin, middle of Mackay in the Pioneer river, and the outskirts of Townsville & Rocky.

For the first time I was lucky enough to visit Tasmania for a week 24th December to 31st where also for the 1st time I and my daughter who lives in Canada and who also shouted me me this holiday, watched a part of Melbourne's fireworks. I cannot begin to describe the magnificence of the world heritage wilderness of this ancient island. This was a very fun video to watch and I am impressed about how much Ukrainians know, even the Emu war which was an actual thing until the stupid Brits gave up!😂 I have lived with many of the "killer" wildlife peacefully on a 20 hectare property in a remote part of the Victorian High Country including the third most venomous snake in the world, the Eastern Brown, frequent visitors that came for water when it is was very hot and dry and did me the favour of eating mice that were feasting on the chicken's grain. We had a healthy respect for one another but I did have to call in a local snake expert a couple of times to catch very big Browns who decided to move in permanently and return them back up into the mountains.
I loved this, hopefully many Ukrainians can come visit us soon. I made sure to visit Ukraine when I went to Europe in Feb/March 2023 (Uzhhorod and Lviv) and it was fantastic, highly recommend! I loved the country, it’s cities & it’s people! I am obviously saddened with the war at the moment as I still have friends in Odessa. I have a lovely ornate pottery wall plaque on my wall of the Odessa Opera House. Just know my thoughts, wishes & love are always with you! I hope to return one day. 🇺🇦🤝🇦🇺♥️ P.s. Wow, It seems Ukrainians know a lot more about Australia than we do about Ukraine. Our unfortunate two year crash course has taught us a lot about Ukraine, and there’s a lot to like. Would really love to visit after they’ve kicked those grubby Russians back over the border.

Its really solemn for a person in a country at war to wish us peace and happiness, you never know the true value of both until you are at risk of losing it.
I loved this and super impressed by how much the people interviewed knew. Much love to you all in the Ukraine and I hope for peace and security
Amazingly well informed! Ukrainians are most welcome to visit! I think your humour is similar to ours!
I really wish we could do more for Ukraine outside of NATO we are the main country that helps and donates military and humanitarian aid and we will do so even after the war ends. Like Jake broe says GLORY TO THE HEROES,GLORY TO UKRAINE,so you all hang in there and know that AUSTRALIA WILL BE THERE FOR YOU NO MATTER WHAT.YOU ALL TAKE CARE AND HANG IN THERE. ❤

A lot of us have followed events from day 1, and support more than ever. 🇭🇲🤝🇺🇦
How can ypu say that with all the lies we have in our media. How is that view even possible. Do you investigate what's ACTUALLY going on there?
@@jamieleslie1177 I have a background in Russian history from Tsarist years until now, and I have been following events very very closely for almost 2 years. So yes I have investigated what's really going on in Ukraine - that's why I support them more than ever.
Are you referring to the lies of right-wing media in Australia, such as Fox and other Murdoch press? Or to left wing or independent media here? There are multiple narratives in the media space.

Hi from Brisbane. A great set of interviews. I wish everyone there my best. Cheers
Their knowledge of Australia is amazing!
Among other things, Australia provides Ukraine with flat-pack cardboard drones. It’s a very cost effective way to use drones and they can be transported easily.
Yes, good...but they need thousands or tens of thousands. Not hundreds. The story of Western Aid pretty much.
@@riykkzsunshine9669
Please bear in mind that countries who give “western aid” have issues within their own countries that need addressing like homelessness, medical etc. (I’m not comparing this to war just pointing out facts)
Countries give more than they can actually afford, which I don’t begrudge, but please try not to sound ungrateful there are enough people in those countries complaining about how much is sent OS in aid without people receiving it complaining.
I hope peace comes soon
@@riykkzsunshine9669 The United States is a net exporter of Petroleum Products and LNG. The longer this War goes on, the more Profit Exxon-Mobil and Chevron make. The USA organises enough weapons for Ukraine to stand firm, but not enough for them to win. It's a sucky situation for Ukraine to be in.
Sadly the emu war wasnt a joke. Humans lost. But it was a stupid idea doomed from the start. Those 2 young guys were really well informed. Tell the nice lady we wish her well and that we are quite safe from those animals. You dont really see them. You need to come visit when its possible.

@@kparker2430 You forgot the "Drop Bears"! 😱
I can't get over how everyone is so worried about Australia being a dangerous place but they are living in a war zone!
Ukraine must have an excellent education system, they are so knowledgeable and well spoken, and we really should send them at least one division of kangaroos.
I think the real warriors, however, are the Emus. They’ve won two wars already apparently although I did miss that in the news. Send Emus and Kangaroos.
Try asking an American where we are
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emu_War@@teeanahera8949

I feel Ukraine will become a popular travel destination for Australians after the war has ended. Ukraine will become a thriving and prosperous democracy in the future.

I have lived with many of the "killer" wildlife peacefully on a 20 hectare property in a remote part of the Victorian High Country including the third most venomous snake in the world, the Eastern Brown, frequent visitors that came for water when it is was very hot and dry and did me the favour of eating mice that were feasting on the chicken's grain. We had a healthy respect for one another but I did have to call in a local snake expert a couple of times to catch very big Browns who decided to move in permanently and return them back up into the mountains.

The young lady recognised that Australia is (currently) not in dire conflict with any country. The experience of Australia is so different from that of Europe. We have problems, have done wrong by the Aboriginal peoples and are vulnerable to China, but we have a different mentality to Europeans who have had to live generationally with conflicts with neighbours at huge cost. Australians do support Ukraine in this war of aggression by Russia that is seeking to impose its imperialist vision on the country and people of Ukraine. We see Ukrainians as independent people and they have proved to be resilient, innovative and strong. My view of Russia and Russians has plummeted since Putin’s war of terror. I’d be happy to welcome Ukrainians to this country. We have a lot in common. The Russians can go jump.
