    Interesting. Here's my experience servicing a watch - I sent my Longines Master Automatic for a full service. Swatch group sent awesome packaging and pre-paid slip to my house, polished out a scratch on the case, did a full service of the movement (plus replaced a worn crown), cleaned up the bracelet I sent along with the watch as well, and sent it back to me after about a month nicely packaged in a Longines case. Watch was out of warranty, but $275 after tax seems very reasonable all things considered. Watch keeps +2-3 secs per day so far. I saw a video from JOMW sharing his experience with Seiko's servicing, and it seems that for just a little more or same cash Swatch group does a far better job.

    Maybe the oils and grease needs to work in. A Rolex service is supposed to completely disassemble the movement, sonic clean, re-lube, replace hands, replace gaskets, pressure test etc. I’m about to send my dads sub in to get fixed. He passed away, watch has a cracked crystal and the movement is seized because of it. All in all, I’ll have a working Rolex for a fraction of the price of a new one just paying for service center stuff

    My dealer scratched the clasp on my Sea Dweller when removing the diver’s extension. But I did not notice at the time, nor for about a week later, so they denied it.
    The amazing thing, to me, is that the other day I accidentally hit the watch quite hard against the end of a club hammer I was using. Not a scratch!
    How do they scratch it quite noticeably just from taking the bracelet off when I can’t scratch it against a club hammer!

    Good helpful video, you are making good points. You know, with what we pay for these, not only do we have to expect to NOT have to send it for service one year into the warranty, but at least for Rolex to be sorry and apologetic about the fact you have to be without your NEW watch for a month, and send you back an absolute perfect watch after the service.
    I think that watches that come to service still under warranty should get priority in line. And they should definitely specify what was the exact issue, again for the money we pay for these we obviously want to know exactly what’s going on.
    I need to bring a ladies OP to servise and it is also one year old and running way outside the +2/ - 2 , I will be delivering it in person since I live in NYC.

  • @ncprime9447

    So my Batman from when I got it ran a bit fast, between +1.8 and +2 seconds per day. It started to slow and also started to make a weird gravelly feeling when whining the watch and this coincided with it slowing down to +1 or so second a day. I brought it into the RSC in NYC when I happened to be passing through and they told me the whinding action was off and they took it back into the room, 5 minutes later they came out and said it was heavily magnetized, since I’ve gotten it back it’s running a bit faster in the range of +1.3 to +1.6 per day. So my Batman being magnetized actually slowed and improved it’s accuracy. I have no idea why this seems to defy conventional understanding but it happened. Mostly I was just annoyed because I took it to an AD when the problem started and they said it couldn’t be magnetized because Rolex’s don’t get magnetized, they wouldn’t even check it for me and said ‘you’d better just send it in to Rolex, because it must be something else.’ I’m glad I waited a couple weeks till I had to be in NYC so I didn’t do the 6 week mail it off and wait just to hear that response.

    • @ncprime9447
      @ncprime9447 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On the flip side the fact that it was literally in the back room at the RSC for 5 minutes means I didn’t get one of those nice little green travel pouches you received, which I kinda wanted and if I’d thought to ask they’d likely have just given me anyway.

    • @JustBlueFish

    When i sent my 1 month old GS 9F SBGX063 in for service it came back all nice and scratched up and was sold shortly there after. I must have been the most unlucky 9F owner ever to even get a bad one. Most people arent watch nerds like us and look at every minute detail they just want the watch to work. Overall Rolex is one of the better service providers. If the Sub uses a a traditional rubber gasket inside the screw back then something I would insist on would be that they put in a new gasket when they opened the case back. Otherwise it would possibly have stretched out a bit when they unscrew the back and that would affect the water resistance.

    Hey Guy, sorry to hear about the negative service center experience. This just reaffirms my feelings about the Rolex Service Center as a whole. Just sheer lack of care and attention to detail. Heck, I've even visited a very well known Rolex watch repair/service center in the Los Angeles area (hint: think first three letters of the alphabet) to have them pressure test me my Sea Dweller, and they put two deep scratches right on the polished side of the case within the 15 minutes they had it! They were obviously careless and rushed whilst they had possession of my watch, and it now has two scars to remind me everyday. This may be harsh to say, but I just don't have much faith in Rolex or any independent watchmakers/repair centers for that matter, even though I'm sure there's a few good ones out there. The bottom line is, if it's not their watch, they're not going to treat it with the respect and utmost care it deserves period...and that's a lot more than disappointing!

    You my friend are way to kind. Sending such a special watch in to a Rolex service center, and getting it back with anything as significant as scratches, fingerprints, oil drips, debree, or time keeping changes even just occasionally is unacceptable. Rare reports like this understandable, mistakes happen. There is so much CYA behavior today which is what I thought of when you read the service report and Rolex made no mention of a specific problem or repair. Any debree in a brand new unserviced Rolex was clearly their resposibility, but they completly dodged any accountability. This does not speak well for their brand. This was a missed opportunity for Rolex to make their customer feel great about their service experience vs just relieved the watch was not further damaged. Thank you for sharing. MY wife's datejust Rolex is 4 years old - she has had from new from an AD. It has never kept time - out by about 5 mins every two days. lately it's been losing 90 minutes a day so it needs repairing under guarantee. There are some small dents to the sapphire crystal and a fine scratch to the case at the 3 position. They are saying it needs a service at a cost of £700 and not a repair under guarantee. i am livid. that watch has had the easiest of lives on my wife's wrist for 4 years and has not been dropped or knocked anything other than would be expected at 4 years old. It seems to me they see an opportunity to charge us £700 for nothing. The watch needs repairing under warranty. nHas anyone else had the same problem.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know think they would. It's in spec so why? If it were out of spec I'm sure they would insist on sending it in to the service center because it's still under warranty.

      Yes it does mean that it will keep that time on the wrist. Or it means it should. Proof - if it doesn’t Rolex will regulate it under warranty free of charge, i.e. fix the defect.

    I think your content is fantastic, but I'm a bit surprised at your constant monitization efforts. You have a paid advertisement in the beginning of this piece, and you break for commercials during the segment. You end your content with yet another request for funds or use of your affiliate link. It's a bit much.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry you feel that way Barry. It takes a lot of time to make content. Even a short 10 minute video can take 3-4 hours to produce. Longer reviews take 10+ hours to make. Last month I made 16 videos. I probably spent 100 hours making those. This is at this point my job and I can’t do it without help and support from fans and viewers that enjoy and want me to keep making content. The Ads alone don’t pay enough. I hope you consider helping me out and use my affiliate links or support me on Patreon.

    Geez really? I’ve had my Rolex sub for 40 years and serviced every 6 years or so. Always comes back looking like a brand new watch although was ignorant until recently the original parts are valued more highly by collectors. But I wear mine everyday and watch bands wear out and dials fade and aluminium bezels rust (don’t wear in pool) so on balance happy to have a new Rolex every 6 years!

    • @DBravo29er
      @DBravo29er 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JustBlueFish Watch Reviews See, we disagree. My Omega Seamaster Professional Master Chronometer keeps +.3 seconds per day if i set it on my dresser just right overnight. And it's a daily beater. There is zero reason that your Sub shouldn't CONTINUE to have that same accuracy.
      Like you, observing isochronism in mechanical watches is one of my greatest pleasures.

    • @algorithm007ify
      @algorithm007ify 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DBruh while I kind of agree with you and actually expect Omegas to be more accurate than Rolex (6 position adjustment, testing at different power reserve + temperature points, tested by a third party and they tend to meet the 0 to +5 accuracy well within the range from the examples I have seen/owned), we have to realise that tolerances of +/- 10 seconds is even reasonable, if you look at the grand scheme of things, Firstly, every day has a different duration (true noon is +/- 15 minutes or so throughout the year). Secondly, if you are a collector, you will be rotating and resetting the time. Lastly, there are 60 x 60 x 24 =86400 seconds a day... even losing a minute is < 0.1% off.

      JustBlueFish Watch Reviews I uploaded my Rolex UK Service Delivery Note to my IG and tagged your IG handle. As I said, in the UK you can phone or e-mail Rolex Service UK in West Malling, Kent with:
      service@rolex.co.uk
      This is likely to be:
      service@rolex.com for the United States.
      If they have not, as a minimum, done the full 3-5 year service I would request a new replacement. They will say you have to approach the AD who your Contract of Sale is with. You could contact @watchbox or @watchbox_cb to see what you could sell it for.

    if 1 year is actually 365.25 days, then 1 day isn't really 24.00 hours and all of this talk about "accuracy" is missing the point. The mechanical watch is an incredible invention, so just appreciate it for what it is ... (this is coming from a Sub owner, so I get the OCD of it all)

      i understand the man-made templates we’re using, I just think it’s a little funny we forget how imprecise the templates really are ... if we were creating the template today for measuring time (with no prior knowledge of the current 24-hour clock), I wonder how different it would be.

    This is what you expect when you buy a tool, if you want perfection go for Lange or PP Thats where you can expect perfection but not with a tool watch company. Maybe they expect us to be using them as they were intended. Diving maybe throwing it on the side as we put on our scuba gear
    on. Why do the company make it shock resistant if they aren't expecting it to be used as intended.

  • @stangresham6024

    Ok, relax and enjoy your watch.
    It's been my experience that when a watch's power reserve has been discharged while not on your wrist, they seem to speed up. It think it has to do with body temperature vs room temp as well as the discharge of the power reserve at lower temperature.
    My other oberservation I thought was nosensical was, You're not the point of contact if you allow AD to send it in. If you think the RSC is going to discuss anything with you your living in a fantasy land.
    For all you know Rolex completely overhauled that watch and serviced it completely. They could have replace something and never would have told you. That's pretty typical of warranty repair.
    The first Rolex I ever bought had to be returned about 45 days after purchase when the stem tube popped out. I understand how you feel but that's just how it works.
    I have on other watches that required warranty service and that seems to be par for the course.
