mastering puzzle rush brings to mind the manager of my club, who used to say things like: The best defence is a strong offense. Thanks, Danya - enjoyed spending this time with you tonight.
Danya is so so sooo much down to earth that even though he have galaxy sized knowledge.... His way of explaning even a layman can understand!!! love youuuuuuu
I basically never comment, but this is SO instructive to hear you talk through these puzzles. Paused to solve and only got two wrong, but sometimes my calculation is still a little shaky. Am really looking forward to watching part 2, as I'm 2000 FIDE and will love the challenge and hearing you talk through it will be extremely enlightening!
I would happily pay a subscription for access to regular Danya videos. I must have watched most of your uploads 3x through already and just can’t wait for more. It’s so much more fun learning this way than just memorising lines from courses.
20:00 Great explanation for beginners. 40:58 Very good endgame and calculation example for intermediate players. 1:01:27 Gradually spotting more and more niuances in the position to solve a puzzle, nice one. Great job, looking forward to the next videos in this series 👌
At 1:01:00 "The moment you divorce yourself from that idea [typical pattern, but doesn't actually work here] you should spot the correct move." Brilliantly said, and what I tend to struggle with but just phrasing it like that does help! My puzzle rush survival is 48, though I should be able to at least hit 50. You also say "Let's try to refute that move" - so to look for a way that a 'promising idea' may not work. I like that too and this is probably one of the key reasons I fail at some puzzles. I didn't look hard enough for the refutation to my idea. Thank you!
You really are a hugely motivational online coach to so many amateur chess players including me. Your videos improve my life and my chess skills and I'm very grateful. Thank you Danya.
Hey Danya, just wanted to say thank you for these instructional videos. I've managed to get from 45 to 58 in puzzle rush, thanks to this video and I'm going to keep working at it until I hit 60. Really appreciate everything you do!
Danya, if it doesn't take too much of your time, I would absolutely love to see a video like this monthly or maybe even weekly. They are so helpful and are likely helpful to nearly all of your regular viewers because they cover a range of difficultly. Thanks and keep up the good work!!!
Thank you for the motivation to beat my old puzzle survival score by 1...it's not much but it's progress in the positive direction. ❤ One day I'll hit 60 and say I knew that was possible because I saw a gm do it on TH-cam first and he made it look easy so I should stop slacking.
After watching this video I decided it was so easy I would give it a try. My previous best was 51 and I was able to raise that to 52. Small steps but a big deal to me. I spent an hour and 21 minutes to get those 52 right and the three wrong. I got the first 48 before dropping one. My trouble is getting lazy on the early ones and missing one or two that I shouldn't. I just have to try harder at the beginning to save my strikes for later in the run or I just get terrible scores.
Hey Danya, ive got an idea for a new series I’ve been thinking about a lot that could help a lot of ppl. You do a speedrun (surprise) but every game is actually a viewer playing with you coaching them in a call. You could do a much longer format. 30 minutes maybe so the viewer could really explain what they think about a position and you could explain why they are focusing on the wrong thing etc… or what they are missing about a position. It would help a lot of players to show the difference live on how a beginner / intermediate / advanced players look at a position and how at every level they notice better things but still not at your level. Ik 30 minutes may sound like a lot but you could do like 2 games per 100 elo or something to start.
Coaching a viewer live sounds like too much contingency and effort ngl, Danya will have to prepare a lot more before and after every game to have an actual useful coaching session
@@cyin974yea it could be a lot of work, but there’s definitely ways to make it rly educational. He could also choose people he knows personally or twitch mods / donors so he knows them sorta
11:20 ChessBase credits Mike Cook with coining LPDO, and Nunn for making it famous And this video is pure gold-been switching between watching it and tackling puzzles for the last hour
At the puzzle with the pawn endgame around 1:20:00 it would have been very instructive to show, why the other variation with the black king on b3 and the pawn on a2 is winning. Loved the video, it was a really good exercise up to the last problem
Been watching your videos for a long time, and honestly you seem more cognizant at 11am imho, but you're always great, wish I had 1/1000 of your chess ability.
In the puzzle at 1:20:12, it's worth remarking how critical it is that White's king is close enough to be a mating threat after white promotes, since otherwise Q vs h pawn on the second rank is a draw
I recommend these to anyone and everyone that asks me how to improve at chess. It’s always puzzles. The way people tell me don’t do drugs and i still do them, I tell people “do chess puzzles” and they tell me “did you hit your head, why are you talking to yourself, calls the cops.”
it's very true, I started doing puzzles everyday and I can now solve the first 15 - 20 puzzles consistently without making a mistake trust the process guys😊
Whenever a GM recalls a relevant past game on the spot, it feels like a glimpse of why they're so good. They have something like photographic memory for chess!
Hi Naro been feeling so bad recently... I really hope you are doing well yourself... Your videos have been my solace, my go to place... I really don't need sympathy for myself maybe for somebody else who needs it
Proof, if proof were needed, that Danya is the best chess tutor. Watching this video, I'm pausing and trying to solve the puzzles before he says anything. Not even using a board, just trying to work it out. My best in puzzle rush survival is 37, and I normally get more in the 25-30 range. I'm currently at puzzle 44 in this video and haven't missed one. Paused to play a puzzle rush myself and...got 18. Just the mere *presence* of the Prophet makes me a better puzzle solver.
I am not sure what it exactly is, but after watcfhing a puzzle rush video from Danya I have a temporary buff which makes me tactical stronger. After a couple of weeks it falls off. So This video is exactly on time for my new buff! (fell down from 2700 to 2400 in puzzles).
"LeBron James isn't known for his ability to defend the g6 square" I just wanted to bring up that I am currently developing a chess based card game that will include up to 100 different peices with their own unique move sets. This has inspired me to create a LeBron James peice and I'm going to use this quote as the flavor text. Its unique ability will be that no matter what it cannot occupy the g6 square, because that humours me 😂
Daniel, if you posted your speed run videos twice a week you would have a million subs. I know it’s tough but if you put yourself to that challenge not only could you further your career, you could help a lot of people and make a huge impact in the chess world More speedrun videos!! Once a week at least!
Of course I admire your talent but your clarity and your patience to explain your thinking are outstanding. Thank you so much, Daniel 🙂
👏👏👏
"Imagine that there was a zebra sitting on f7, that there was LeBron James sitting on f7."
Danya's chess metaphors hit different
f for flop
Came here for this ❤
Lebron would be on g8 in this situation
I routinely forget he loves basketball 😂
Never clicked faster.
I click with lightning speed everytime anyway so i guess i cant say i cant measure
Ikr, TH-cam auto played this for me and I was like ughh this is from 2 years ago, already seen it, but then the ball dropped and I was happy
I never see him interact with the wholesome comments but this he interacts with
Went from a survival puzzle rush personal best of 31 to 44 after watching this thank you sensei 🙇🏻♂️

The way you explain your thinking is so clear. This is definitely one of your superpowers! Hoping for a video like this in Russian one day 😁

Literally checked your page today thinking “damn danya hasn’t uploaded in 2 weeks” and now this pops up!
I would happily pay a subscription for access to regular Danya videos. I must have watched most of your uploads 3x through already and just can’t wait for more. It’s so much more fun learning this way than just memorising lines from courses.

Watched this and instantly got 50 for the first time. Thanks!
There's quite a few comments from people here who got a new personal best after watching this. I'm another one of them. 52 here.
You really are a hugely motivational online coach to so many amateur chess players including me. Your videos improve my life and my chess skills and I'm very grateful. Thank you Danya.
It's great to hear you in such positive tone Danya!

Just listening to you makes it easier to find the winning move.
It's like your energy is setting up the vibe for better chess.

I’m glad you did this again! These are some of my favourite videos of yours.
Very lovely. Thank you Danya. I'd love to see more of these. :)
30:38 this was a nice shoutout to Hikaru and Levy mere days before Ser Danya and Ser Hess took them down in the team comp :))

Work it out yourself. You can't be spoon-fed everything.

Thanks to Daniel Naroditsky. Easy 50 puzzles for me after watching this.

I love these puzzle videos!
I really enjoy and learn a lot from the puzzle solving videos :)
"The queen and the knight. It's like the Hikaru and Levy of chess pieces." Got me laughing. Thanks.
Big man Danya dropping a cheeky Thinking, Fast and Slow reference
These videos are my favorite by far you just explain shit so well
Yessirski, you are amazing
I'll watch this one a few times, for sure! Puzzles are my favorite part of chess
This is the third video in not so long that Danya has used the word copacetic lol
Hi Naro been feeling so bad recently... I really hope you are doing well yourself... Your videos have been my solace, my go to place... I really don't need sympathy for myself maybe for somebody else who needs it
Just after watching this video I went to do a puzzle rush for the first time in months and I hit 53!! My personal best with difference.
Let's go Danya💙
50:01 At this point Danya wouldn't be able to stop himself impersonating other people even if he wanted to haha
This video inspired me to try survival out again. First try - 10 lol. Pretty discouraging. Next try - 33! Broke my old record of 26!
I like your commentry and playing❤❤
27:27, #28. I dub this ending, with the two queen moves, a kazoo mate.
Probably better quality tactical instruction than any paid course out there

This tactic happens all the time. Just look at this game I played the other 18 years ago. ❤
Danya , when you done doing what you're doing , please bring back the 15+10 speedruns , Thank you😇
the 5 | 0 speedrun is great

Danya never fails to deliver the most educational high-level videos on the Internet
I'll say it again, danya is the real internet's chess teacher
I enjoy these
Even more impressive than his puzzle solving ability is his ability to remember games he played 20 years ago with a similar position
Do more of these!
great video
