Cant wait for the UFC to realize they are burning this sport to the ground....Rankings don't matter, fighting thru a division doesnt matter, and defending your belt doesnt matter either. They want cash cows over hard workers.

Another thing to consider is there’s not really any long reigning champs so multiple title defenses is kind of forgotten. Also, Izzy deserved his 205 pound fight when he got it. Furthermore. I feel like UFC belts kind of lack prestige these days could be attributed to the WWE matchmaking lately another thing that makes the double champ status more desirable. Lastly, Sean Strickland (who you don’t like) I don’t believe ever mentioned double champ status 😂.

Will there ever be a fighter that wins two belts, fights twice a year successfully defending both belts on a consistent basis?
Not since DC was in the ufc he did defend the LHW belt and the HW belt

I hate it even more than MMA Joey does. I don't think it should ever be allowed. If you decide to "try" a new division, you should leave the belt behind. It would still be very prestigious to have held belts in more than one division...ever. Holding them simultaneously should not be allowed, for all the reasons Joey just said. Holy shit, I actually agree with everything Joey said in a video! That's a first. lol
remember when dana didnt make super fights , they are one part of the reason the sport isnt growing , the fake titles , some champions not fighting very often

Go back to the days you either vacate and move up or don't, the risk should be vacating your position to get a higher position.. never understood the om going to move up and take a risk, but if I lose I'm still a dominant champion.

I think hype plays into it. Volk had to beat Max 3 times before people considered him the best and then he could move up. Islam on the other hand was hyped to oblivion on the come up. Yes he proved himself but he was considered the best before even becomic a champ. He just needs to beat the winner of Oliveira/Arman to move up. The others thon need to solidify themselves. Like Sean, Leon and Alex.
Honestly the only way its gonna end is someone becoming a 3 division champ then at that point 2 will still be good on your resume but not as big of deal anymore not to mention we've already seen 4 fighters do it

It seems that these weight classes are affecting the fighters which causing them to wanna go up and weight because they actually want to fight at their natural weight
The fighters are just looking at the financial gains. Imo there’s two (basic) schools of thought in MMA fandom matchmaking theory. The purists want to see the rankings dictate matchups. The hype fans prefer to let the storylines dictate the matchmaking. The UFC and fighters currently are leaning towards the latter.

Brother I agree it’s bs from champs who have no defenses. Islam and leon are the only two that really have the closest right to say anything about double champ status. The problem with leon though is that he’s not as dominant in his fights and they are not exciting. Islam on the other hand has given a champion below him 2 chances to take his belt plus his fights are tremendously exciting which the ufc will take into account. Islam doesn’t deserve it but if one champ does right now it is Islam.

What do you say then about UFC's plan to start a 165 lb division with Conor vs Chandler for the inaugural title? I mean how does Conor deserve any title shot who has 0 wins in LW since 2016? I believe Dana's plan is to make Conor a triple champ, and then co-promote Conor vs Manny Pacquio boxing match with the Saudis. Do not tell me Dana is not capable of this scheme.

A superfight isn't champions from different weight classes, it's a fight between champions of the same weight class from different promotions, kinda like the first Superbowl was a playoff between different football leagues. UFC superfights are bullshit.
