Wasn't this hike just absolutely beautiful?! 🥺 There's so many amazing ones like this all over Japan! Should we try our hand at some tougher ones? Longer means more spiritual, right? .....right? 😆
Hi guys, words fail me for how beautiful this place is. Your camera work has always been amazing but some of the shots you got were really fantastic. I feel for you going out walking on the back of a cold, hopefully the fresh air and peace did you good and you’ve both fully recovered now. Again thank you for showing all these stunning places, especially this one and sharing your experiences with everyone. I really loved this video, another place I’m absolutely putting on the list of places to visit. Wishing you both safe travels and best wishes 🏴🇦🇺🇯🇵😊
As always thank you so much for watching and your lovely comment! Honestly, when the area is just so magical, it doesn't take much to make it look so beautiful on screen. 😂 Glad to report that we're both fully recovered and fighting-fit now! Onto the next adventure! Best wishes to yourself as always 😊
Thanks for sharing! We were there at Mt Haguro last April - although it was spring that was still quite a few patches of snow around. A beautiful, peaceful place and the trees are so majestic. We also ate some delicious soba when we returned to the village near the carpark. Thanks again! Looking forward to your next vlog.
No doubt in my mind Mt haguro would've been just as beautiful at that time of the year as well! Oh man, we didn't look around for any restaurant afterwards. Finishing it off with some Soba would've been the perfect thing! Thank you so much for watching & commenting! 😊
You're welcome! Thank you for watching and your lovely comment! If you're into light snow hiking like this we can also recommend "Togakushi Shrine", which looks equally as gorgeous amongst the snow! Hope you have an awesome trip!
Hello Aimee and Roy! Yes I rember you were pointing to the Togakushi Shrine! I put that on my list. Could you please talk or share where would be amazing to spend new years evening if anything special? Also which were your top 3 -5 jaw dropping Castle to visit? Do you maybe know a 2-3 days trip sport ( ice climbing ) or very special winter experience recommendation in Japan? We will definitely come back again but for sure in another season so I would like to take out as much as possible from the winter wonderland feeling!😊
I think the cold must have got to our brains while filming and editing 😅 Thank you for pointing that out! We absolutely loved Haguro-san! It's very cool to hear from someone that trains there 😊
@@RoyandAimee haha yeah no problem! So glad you could make it! Next time if you want a guide, just let me know :) also try Gassan and Yudono if you get the chance, as you mention you will need to come in summer or early autumn though!
Hi guys were inspiring video! the cedar trees are so impressive! When were you recording this video? You say some of the ski slopes were not open in 2023/2024 however the video was marked with -10 celsius. How is that possible that in that cold there was no snow? Were you choosing the cooking in the van option because in this area there were no restaurants nor ramen places? Please let us know. Kindets regards and keep going!
Hi there! We filmed this video in mid February 😊 For the winter campervan video with -10 degrees, we were in a popular ski town called Hakuba where all the ski resorts were open but in other areas around Japan that don't get as cold, unfortunately this past season wasn't very good for snow. We simply chose to cook in the van but there's plenty of restaurants in Hakuba! In the winter season it's good to book ahead for dinner though as the town gets packed with tourists.
Right? It’s a pretty low key spot! Then again, pretty recently Chris Broad did a segment on this area, so it might gather more of a name for itself from now? I guess we’ll see!
Are you guys on your way to Morioka? I would love to show you around :) I just did that hike for new years. It’s so disappointing to not see much snow out here this year :(
Ah this was just a nice little weekend trip, unfortunately we're not heading any more north than this. Although we did come and hang out with the legendary GoNorth Japan in Morioka last year, and it was an amazing city & experience and we'd love to visit again! Oh! New years would've been such a perfect time to do this hike - I would imagine there would've been a decent amount of people doing it at that time? Yeah, totally feel you on the snow comment. It's made snowboarding and winter travel not as magical this season :( But looking forward to the NEXT winter season with a big list of "want to do's" is just another wonderful part of life in a country with 4 seasons!
Also, I wanna tell you guys; you both are legends and keep up the good work. You’re really selling me on moving back to central Honshu someday. Thanks for all your hard work :)
Waah thank you so much for such a lovely comment! Haha central Honshu is pretty nice, but Tohoku definitely beats it for peacefulness and less crowds. Yes we'll definitely let you know if we're up Iwate way!
I am planning to visit japan in early april, can you please guide me if it be safe to hike in gunma and noboribetsu?iv read that thoose places are inhabited by bears😢and they usually attack people...i am not able to make a decision wheather it be safe to go there or not
Hi there! Yes there is a chance of encountering bears in the mountains. I wouldn’t say that stops anyone in Japan from hiking though. There was a lot of news about 2023 being the highest year so far for bear attacks but beyond forests, a lot of these attacks occurred near farmland and people’s homes.
Wasn't this hike just absolutely beautiful?! 🥺

The Yamagata area is a hidden tourist destination and a treasure trove of food and nature.
Beautifully said!

Wow!! Beautiful video. Thank you for sharing.
So glad you enjoyed it 😊 Thank you for watching!
So glad you enjoyed the mountain we Yamabushi train on! You’re a few years off though! The pagoda was restored in 1372.

What month did you guys do this in? We are thinking of doing the pilgrimage near the end of Feb.
We did it mid-Feb 😊 This past winter season there was less snow around. If you get a better season, there should be a bit more snow there in Feb.
